Linguistic Geography and Historical Material. an Example of Inventory Ledgers from the Second Half of the 18Th Century Kept in Wielkopolska1

An example of inventory ledgers from the second half of the 18th century kept in Wielkopolska1 Abstract: This work connects with the dialectological aspect of linguistic geography. The analysed material consists of inventory ledgers kept in Wielkopolska in the second half of the 18th century for nobility possessions. It is assumed that the then regional variety of the Polish language spoken in Wielkopolska was geographically diverse and this diversity was anything but accidental. It was affected by the education of the communication actors (including the writers) and their command of the literary Polish language, dialectal influences, impact of foreign languages, presence of archaic and innovative elements. This diversity is reflected in inventory ledgers; an analysis thereof was aimed at excerpting examples of lexical variants. This work contains 4 selected examples: ‘bogaty chłop’ [a wealthy farmer], ‘ziemniaki’ [potatoes], ‘mała izba’[a small room], ‘niebieski’ [blue]. Maps have been created for them. The analytical part is followed by generalisation of the variability in the surveyed sources (types of variability, its sources, levels, types of variants). Keywords: linguistic geography, historical dialectology, 18th century, inventory ledgers, variability, a linguistic map. Abstract: Geografia lingwistyczna a materiał historyczny. THE FIRST TO BE DESTROYED The Jewish Community of Kleczew and the Beginning of the Final Solution ANETTA GŁOWACKA-PENCZYŃSKA TOMASZ KAWSKI WITOLD MĘDYKOWSKI Edited by Tuvia Horev Boston 2015 Free excerpt. Copyrighted material. Preface s the son of a woman born in Kleczew to a family that had lived there Afor generations, I could not help but imbibe the reality of Kleczew with my mother’s milk. My family had never been nostalgic for Kleczew, and certainly I had never heard any stories about how things had been back there. My grandparents had immigrated to pre-state Israel with their two daughters in July 1939, less than sixty days before the Germans invaded Poland. In doing so, they had left much of their family behind. Nearly all of these relatives perished very shortly afterward, in the Holo- caust. Born in Israel as a member of a new generation that had never smelled the stench of exile and experienced its horrors, I understood nothing about the immensity of the trauma that nestled deep in my grandparents’ hearts. I never even felt the need—I admit this in shame—to ask them what they felt or to ask them to share their memories with me, confide in me, or just tell me who those relatives back there had been. A few years ago, however, I came across an excerpt of the testimony of a Polish veterinarian, Dr. -

Physical Activity Review vol. 7, 2019 www.physactiv.eu Original Article doi: 10.16926/par.2019.07.12 Factors influencing physical activity level of the inhabitants in Norway and Poland – the case of sports and recreation infrastructure Anna Maria Urbaniak-BrekkeABCD , Torkjel SolbraaD Western Norway Research Institute, Sogndal, Norway Authors' Contribution: A – Study Design, B – Data Collection, C – Statistical Analysis, D – Manuscript Preparation, E – Funds Collection __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Abstract Physical activity is of great importance for physical and mental health of the society. Both in Norway and in Poland, responsibility for actions in the field of physical activity largely rests at the lowest level of the administration structure - municipal governments. The aim of this study was to determine the declared level of physical activity of surveyed groups from two different countries and factors influencing it. Focus was put on local sports and recreation infrastructure in research regions. The research process was based on diagnostic survey method, but it also involved analysis of documents, subject literature and existing statistical data. The research was carried out in local municipalities in two regions: Inner Sogn in Norway (8 municipalities) and Kalisz county in Poland (11 municipalities) and included surveys collected from in total 760 adult respondents, as well as interviews with representants of all 19 local governments who work in the field of physical activity. Results show that among respondents from Norway the physical activity level is 2 times higher than among respondents from Poland. It is also proven that Norwegians use sports and recreation infrastructure more often and they evaluate it much better than Poles. -

Evaluation of the Existing Meteorological Stations for the Agrometeorological Protection of Agriculture in Wielkopolska
JOURNAL OF PLANT PROTECTION RESEARCH Vol. 52, No. 2 (2012) DOI: 10.2478/v10045-012-0047-y EVALUATION OF THE EXISTING METEOROLOGICAL STATIONS FOR THE AGROMETEOROLOGICAL PROTECTION OF AGRICULTURE IN WIELKOPOLSKA Zbigniew Czaczyk* Poznań University of Life Sciences Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Department of Plant Production Engineering Wojska Polskiego 28, 60-637 Poznań, Poland Received: December 28, 2011 Accepted: March 7, 2012 Abstract: modern consulting and the automatic Decision Support Systems (DSS) need reliable measurements of the agrometeorologi- cal elements in a digital and on-line form. For this purpose, properly equipped and correctly spaced agrometeorological station net- works are necessary. When building the networks the existing meteorological infrastructure should be taken into consideration. For this to be possible, a professional inventory of information about the existing points of the agrometeorological elements is necessary. The collected information about stations found in the Wielkopolska Voivodeship and neighboring areas of up to 200 km from Poznań, has been presented in this paper. In the Wielkopolska Voivodeship, 179 stations located in 107 municipalities in all 35 counties have been found. There are no stations in other 119 of the municipalities. In 67 municipality areas, 98 stations were found in the 45 counties from the regions around the Wielkopolska Voivodeship. There are 51 stations located in 39 municipalities of counties bordering the Wielkopolska Voivodeship. No station was found in four of the 27 border counties. The collected information will be helpful for plan- ning the agrometeorological monitoring network. The information we are able to provide is necessary for supporting those decision makers responsible for the management of agriculture in Wielkopolska. -
