When performing he uses a Prophet 08 , his voice filtered through a vocoder, alongside a limited palette of effects. Such is the case for French singer Adam Naas, who broke through from Europe to Lebanon and Brazil in 2016 with his self-titled EP. He has just released The Love Album through Universal. The result is a hypnotic ball of fire that is contemplative and extraordinarily powerful. Chloé has a gift for thumping beats, arresting soundscapes and mesmerising vocals. • CYRIL CYRIL (Switzerland) • psych blues Thu 17 / 21:25-22:10 / Huis De Beurs facebook.com/cyrilcyrilband Signed to the French agency Soyouz and the French label Born Bad, Cyril Yeterian - former singer and banjo player in Mama Rosin and Bongo Joe Records mainstay - is back with this new project that features Cyril Bondi banging on the drums. • NOVA MATERIA • electro industrial post-punk Thu 17 / 23:00-23:40 / Minerva Art Academy facebook.com/NovaMateria Nova Materia are a Franco-Chilean duo formed by Caroline Chaspoul and Eduardo Henriquez, previously members of post-punk band Panico who released more than ten albums. Their instruments are steel tubes, iron plates, rubbed stones, and guitars struck with mallets. He combines drum 'n bass with aggressive basslines, heavy beats, punk singing and traditional funana from the Cape Verde islands. Scúru Fitchádu (‘Deep Dark’ in Cape Verdean creole) is a restless journey of heavy and pacey music that will set heartbeats racing. • LEWIS OFMAN • electro-pop Fri 18 / 20:05-20:45 / Kokomo facebook.com/lewisofman Lewis OfMan’s music creates a chilling atmosphere where melancholia meets elevation and joy, drawing on contemporary styles as much as 70s Italian film soundtracks. He started out as a drummer before teaching himself piano and guitar and his songs, with their sophisticated jazzy chords and polished percussion, have the ability to take his audience on a shared emotional journey. Taking influence from heavyweights like The Fall, Television and Sonic Youth, MNNQNS are a compelling force of tightly woven guitars, enveloping feedback and singer Adrian D'Epinay's deadpan, incantatory vocals.
