When performing he uses a Prophet 08 synthesizer, his voice filtered through a vocoder, alongside a limited palette of effects. Marc Melià breaks the usual rules of electronic music: what you see is what you hear. ‣ Contacts: booking: Murailles Music, Samuel Trifot, [email protected] • ANNA LEONE (Sweden) • singer-songwriter Wed 16 / 22:40-23:20 / Lutherse Kerk facebook.com/annaleonemusic Signed to the French label All Points/Believe, Anna Leone is a force to be reckoned with. With a range of influences such as Bob Dylan, Bon Iver and Laura Marling, the Swedish singer has successfully developed her own take on the genre. Her debut EP Wandered Away, produced by Grammy-nominated producer Bryan Wilson, marks her first release on French indie label Half Awake. ‣ Contacts: label: Half Awake/All Points/Believe, Yannick Gaume, [email protected] • DELGRES • creole blues Wed 16 / 23:45-00:30 / Huize Maas, Main facebook.com/Delgresband Drumming that is both metronomic and lithe, a dobro-guitar delivering scalding riffs, and earthy basslines emerging from a beaten up tuba… this is Delgres, a power-trio that’s reinventing the blues by injecting it with abrasive trance-rock, recalling the soul of Tuaregs as much as that of The Black Keys or John Lee Hooker. This fiery, rebellious music very much speaks to us in the present moment, shaking our bodies as well as our minds. ‣ Contacts: booking: Nueva Onda, Jean-Hervé Michel, [email protected] // label: [PIAS], Aoine Jaussaud, [email protected] • KIDDY SMILE • electro/house Wed 16 / 0:30-1:15 / Grand Theatre Main facebook.com/Ilovekiddysmile A modern icon, spearhead of the voguing movement and a leading figure in the French queer community, Kiddy Smile is not only an unconventional character but foremost a fast-rising talent. He embodies hot, organic house music, drawing on the musical heritage of New York and Chicago, a soulful spirit and a sharp eye for anti- authoritarian gestures. His debut album One Trick Pony came out in August 2018 on his own Neverbeener label. ‣ Contacts: booking: Allo Floride, Guillaume Benfeghoul, [email protected] // label: Neverbeener Records / Grand Musique Management, Ai-Linh Do Cao, [email protected] BANDS • DELUGE • post-black metal Thu 17 / 20:00-20:40 / Machinefabriek facebook.com/deluge The five-piece from Nancy (France) stand out for their furious blend of atmospheric black metal and post-hardcore. Such is the case for French singer Adam Naas, who broke through from Europe to Lebanon and Brazil in 2016 with his self-titled EP. He has just released The Love Album through Universal. In the meantime Naas and his band deliver their 'dark romantic soul’ in ever more venues. ‣ Contacts: booking: Junzi Arts, Clotaire Buche, [email protected] // label: Universal Music France/Mercury Music Group, Mélissa Chaulet, [email protected] • HYPERCULTE (Switzerland) • pop Thu 17 / 20:30-21:10 / Minerva Art Academy facebook.com/hyperculte Behind Hyperculte lie Simone Aubert (Massicot) and Vincent Bertholet (Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp). She whacks her drums with pinpoint precision while he tames his double bass, making it thrum in a continuous loop, and together, they hum repetitive and inspired litanies. The result is a hypnotic ball of fire that is contemplative and extraordinarily powerful. Hyperculte unites the urgency and audacity of Liquid Liquid, the experimentations of Arthur Russell, the unabashed turbulence of Neu! and Can, the delirious pop music of Areski and something ethereal and incantatory from the depths of the breeding grounds of existence. ‣ Contacts: booking: Soyouz, Scott Gillot, [email protected] BANDS • JUNIORE • rock Thu 17 / 20:45-21:30 / Huize Maas, Main facebook.com/heyjuniore Juniore toured Europe, Turkey, Japan, America, Canada and Australia.
