Nut Free Environment

Dear Families,

FitKids Academy is a free environment. Please be sure that you do not pack anything containing or tree nuts for your child’s lunch or snack. Common nuts include, but are not limited to, , , , , , peanuts, , nuts, and . is not considered a nut and is acceptable to send. Check all food items (, granola bars, cereal, etc.) before sending it in with your child. If packaging says, “Processed in a factory that also processes peanuts/tree nuts,” that is fine; do not send in items that state, “May contain peanuts/tree nuts.

Thank you for your cooperation with this matter. If you have questions or concerns, please bring them to our attention. To help ease the transition to a nut free environment, here is a list of substitutes for butter and nuts:

• Sunflower butter or soy nut butter can be substituted for peanut butter. Seed-based butters from sesame are another viable option. • is another substitute for peanut and other nut butters. It’s made of chickpeas and is a good source of . • Pine nut free pesto that is made with sunflower, pumpkin, or other types of seeds. • Tanabar – As a snacking alternative, these chewy, all-natural granola bars from Vermont Nut- Free live up to the name. In addition to being free of tree nuts, they are also free of sesame, coconut and gluten, too.

I have read the Nut Free Environment policy presented by FitKids Academy and understand that my child’s lunch/snack is required to be nut free.
