Atlas of Yorkshire Coleoptera (VCs 61-65) Part 9 – Derodontoidea, Bostrichoidea and Lymexyloidea Introduction This section of the atlas deals with the Superfamilies Derodontoidea, Bostrichoidea and Lymexyloidea, a total of 104 species, of which there are 57 recorded in Yorkshire. Each species in the database is considered and in each case a distribution map representing records on the database (at 1/10/2017) is presented. The number of records on the database for each species is given in the account in the form (a,b,c,d,e) where 'a' to 'e' are the number of records from VC61 to VC65 respectively. These figures include undated records (see comment on undated records in the paragraph below on mapping). As a recorder, I shall continue to use the vice-county recording system, as the county is thereby divided up into manageable, roughly equal, areas for recording purposes. For an explanation of the vice-county recording system, under a system devised in Watson (1883) and subsequently documented by Dandy (1969), Britain was divided into convenient recording areas ("vice-counties"). Thus Yorkshire was divided into vice-counties numbered 61 to 65 inclusive, and notwithstanding fairly recent county boundary reorganisations and changes, the vice-county system remains a constant and convenient one for recording purposes; in the text, reference to “Yorkshire” implies VC61 to VC65 ignoring modern boundary changes. For some species there are many records, and for others only one or two. In cases where there are five records or less full details of the known records are given. Many common species have quite a high proportion of recent records. -

The faunistic data of presented species enriched by bionomical information. 4 species of powderpost beetles, 9 species of spider beetles and 30 species of death-watch beetles were recorded in the study area. INTRODUCTION Until now, 2 species of powderpost beetles, 2 species of spider and 23 species of death- watch beetles has been reported from the Rogów region (Wiąckowski 1957a, 1957b, Kinelski & Szujecki 1959, Dominik 1966, Nunberg 1986, Borowski 1993a, 1993b, Borowski 2006, Mokrzycki 2011, Piętka 2013, Byk & al. 2013, Rutkiewicz & al. 2013 and Borowski & al. 2013). The following is a list of the species of powderpost, spider and death-watch beetles that occur in the Rogów region. The following new species from Baltic amber are described and illustrated: Gastrallus zjantaru sp. nov., Hadrobregmus ambericus sp. nov. (both Anobiinae), Tuberernobius ambericus gen. nov. et sp. nov. (Ernobiinae), Xylasia gorskii gen. nov. et sp. nov. (Xyletininae). List of world known fossil species is provided. INTRODUCTION The first fossil Ptinid was described at the beginning of the second half of the 19th century from brown coal (C. Heyden & L. Heyden 1866). Other fossil Ptinids were described after fifty years (Quiel 1910; Wickham 1913 a, b; 1914 a, b; 1916, 1917, 1920). Linck (1949) described one new genus and species according to “track of living” - hole in fossilized wood; validity of this description is arguable - according to Rules of Zoological Nomenclature it is possible, but in this case, it was probably at least unhappily used. More species were described after a further period of fifty years (Abdullah & Abdullah 1967; Spilman 1971 and other). The end of the 20th century and beginning of the 21st century was characterized by an increased interest in fossil Ptinidae (Alekseev 2012, 2013; Bellés 2010; Bellés & Vitali 2007; Engel 2010; Hawkeswood et al.
