Summer Virtual Surrey School Games Leader Board Who Will Be Crowned the Summer Term Champion? The more school representatives that took part in the Virtual Surrey School Games each week, the higher the school climbed up the board. This is the final Leader board and is a running total of the number of school representatives that took part over the 7 weeks. Well done to all the schools who got involved in the Summer Virtual Surrey School Games. We saw great results and personal achievements from you all! Keep up the active lifestyles! Even in Week 7 there were some final changes to the overall leader board positions. Primary: • The top 3 positions submitted many entries and the Dance Performances were brilliant. However, St Dunstan’s Catholic Primary School kept their lead on Frimley C of E Junior School and Ravenscote Community Junior School. • Crawley Ridge Junior School managed to pull away from New Haw Community School and secure 7th place to themselves, whilst Loseley Fields Primary School also secured 9th place ahead of Bagshot Infant School and St Alban’s Catholic Primary School in 10th. • Langshott Primary School and Holland Junior School followed in joint 12th position, whilst St Bartholomew’s Primary School joined Bell Farm Primary School, St Peter’s Primary School, Farnham and The Dawnay School for joint 14th position! Secondary: • The top 4 schools managed to maintain their positions on the leader board, whilst 5th position saw Rodborough School take the lead over Reigate School. Well done to the great effort from all the Surrey Schools involved! Waverley Federation Special Options Booklet 2019- 2021 Working Together to Raise Achievement Dear Student, Waverley Federation This prospectus gives information about the courses offered by the Waverley Federation as part of your options choice. All of these courses take place on Tuesdays throughout years 10 and 11. It also explains the application procedures and expectations to which you would need to agree should you be successful in your application. A good education is the key to better life chances, equipping you with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to succeed in further learning, work, and opening the door to greater prosperity and wider opportunities. As a federation we are working collaboratively with our partner schools and colleges to give you a greater breadth and choice of subjects to study in order that you can design a personalised curriculum which motivates, interests and challenges you. These Special Options are equivalent to GCSE but are taught and assessed in a different way and enable you to study in a more adult environment at a college or specialist training centre. You should take time to consider what options will best suit you, listening to advice from your teachers and researching the possibilities carefully. The number of places available on each course is limited and the application and interview processes are competitive. If you do decide to apply you must ensure that you have also agreed an alternative school-based option should your application for a Waverley course be unsuccessful. Yours faithfully,

  • ~ 1 ~ Weydon School Briefing Paper
WEYDON SCHOOL BRIEFING PAPER INTRODUCTION I have been helped in the preparation of this Briefing Paper on Weydon School by a number of sources. Firstly there was a comprehensive publication in 2008, undertaken by Judith Waters, entitled ‘A Brief History of Weydon School’, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the School. This concentrated particularly on the achievements and many of the characters associated with the school, both children and staff. It was significantly informed by the editions of the School Magazine, the ‘Weydonian’, which chronicled the main events and achievements, from 1959 – 2008. Judith who was for a time Librarian at the School, and Editor of the ‘Weydonian', was in an ideal position to source this material. I was also privileged to have had access to a thesis, undertaken by Wendy Coxell, one of the members of our Project, as part of a Bachelor of Education Course at Bishop Otter College in Chichester, now Chichester University. Wendy was a member of the Weydon staff in the 1970’s and her work has provided a valuable insight into the early days of the school, and the changes that were occurring in secondary education at this time. Another member of our project Mavis Standing, had contributed to a number of articles that had appeared in the ‘Peeps in the Past’ Column of the Farnham Herald under the heading, ‘What Mavis did at School’. These were widely quoted in Judith Water’s book. In this Briefing Paper I have concentrated more upon the structural changes in education in the country over the 60 years in which Weydon School has been operating and particularly those changes that have occurred more recently.
