Bibliografia e Indici Bibliografia Ci si preoccupa, in qualche caso a ragione, di verificare l’esattezza delle notizie storiche che ormai molti di noi traggono dai vari siti internet; tuttavia, ho dovuto constatare con sorpresa quante contraddizioni vi siano, su uno stesso argomento, sui libri cartacei. Ciò mi ha costretto a verificare più volte l’esattezza delle informazioni, scegliendo poi quelle che mi sembravano maggiormente sostenute da argomenti validi. I dati invece tratti dai siti internet sono stati utilizzati solo se comprovati da fonti cartacee. Ricordo comunque che, se si vuole capire la storia, non è importante conoscere con esattezza l’anno, per esempio, in cui un palazzo pubblico piuttosto che una chiesa è stata edificata, bensì cercare di cogliere lo “spirito del tempo” che sta dietro a quella decisione. Particolarmente impegnativa (ma appassionante) è stata la parte relativa alla struttura della città, sia dal punto di vista testuale che iconografico, così come non facile (ma altrettanto interessante) è stato individuare i caratteri sostanziali dell’esperienza comunale in tutte le sue varie fasi. Ho dato poi spazio a tre argomenti cruciali nella storia della città: il Risanamento, in occasione di Firenze Capitale (capitolo X); le conseguenze del bombardamento subito dalla città nella Seconda Guerra Mondiale (capitolo XI) e gli eventi relativi all’alluvione del 1966 (capitolo XII). Mi riconosco invece tributario al lavoro realizzato da vari altri autori per ciò che concerne le informazioni (ma non i giudizi) relativi alla parte dedicata alle Corporazioni Arti e Mestieri (capitolo IV) nonché al racconto della Congiura dei Pazzi (capitolo VI). Infine, per tentare di districarmi nelle vicende dinastiche, mi sono servito, rielaborandolo assai, del testo dedicato da Franco Cesati nel suo libro I Medici, Storia di una dinastia europea, al periodo compreso tra la caduta di Piero lo Sfortunato (1494) e l’avvento di Cosimo I (1537). -

Il lago di Como, di manzoniana memoria, colpisce per la singolarità delle rive, “a fiordo”, e per il graduale incunearsi del bacino lacustre in zona montana, accompagnato nel suo percorso dalla “Regina”, l’antica strada che ne delinea la sponda occidentale. Il lago di Garda è adagiato in una conca attorniata da colline ricche di uliveti e limoneti che prosperano grazie alla mitezza del microclima gardesano contribuendo a fare del lago un polo di significativo interesse turistico. Il lago Maggiore conserva un’elegante atmosfera “fin de siècle”, enfatizzata dall’eleganza delle ville rivierasche e dalla particolare bellezza delle Isole Borromee. La forte urbanizzazione sviluppatasi nelle aree dei laghi ha originato un esponenziale aumento della domanda di servizi come quello, prioritario, del trasporto pubblico locale a seguito della congestione del traffico nelle arterie stradali limitrofe ai bacini lacustri. Da qui l’importanza, sempre più crescente, di trasporto alternativo come quello offerto dalla Navigazione Laghi, presente da più di un secolo come realtà aziendale prima privata e poi pubblica, i cui battelli collegano proficuamente le sponde dei nostri laghi. A seguito dello sviluppo registrato nel contesto socio-produttivo delle nostre zone, la Navigazione Laghi ha ritenuto utile la realizzazione di queste nuove guide che si propongono come ausilio per i residenti e i visitatori delle nostre belle regioni augurandosi che possano fornire un valido servizio per l’utenza. -

VILLAS AND GARDENS IN THE CENTRE OF LAKE COMO VILLA CARLOTTA Via Regina 2b, 22019 Tremezzo (CO) Info: +39 0344 40405 - [email protected] - www.villacarlotta.it Villa Carlotta is a place of rare beauty, where masterpieces of nature and art live together in perfect harmony in over 70.000 square metres of gardens and museum. The beautiful villa was built at the end of XVII century in a natural basin between lake and mountains. The architect created for the Clericis an important but sober building, with an Italian garden decorated with sculptures, stairs and fountains. In 1801 Gian Battista Sommariva, famous politician, businessman and patron of arts, bought the villa. Thanks to him, the villa attained the summit of its splendour and became one of the most important halting-place of the Grand Tour with its collection of art (masterpieces of Canova, Thorvaldsen and Hayez) and its fascinating romantic garden. In the second half of the century Princess Marianne of Nassau bought the villa and gave it as a present to her daughter Carlotta in occasion of her wedding. Her husband was passionate about botany and made a lot of improvements and new additions to the park that became more famous for its botanical richness and the rhododendrons’ and azaleas spring flowering. Anna Bortolozzi 3 Architects, Antiquarians, and the Rise of the Image in Renaissance Guidebooks to Ancient Rome Rome fut tout le monde, & tout le monde est Rome1 Drawing in the past, drawing in the present: Two attitudes towards the study of Roman antiquity In the early 1530s, the Sienese architect Baldassare Peruzzi drew a section along the principal axis of the Pantheon on a sheet now preserved in the municipal library in Ferrara (Fig. 3.1).2 In the sixteenth century, the Pantheon was generally considered the most notable example of ancient architecture in Rome, and the drawing is among the finest of Peruzzi’s surviving architectural drawings after the antique. The section is shown in orthogonal projection, complemented by detailed mea- surements in Florentine braccia, subdivided into minuti, and by a number of expla- natory notes on the construction elements and building materials. By choosing this particular drawing convention, Peruzzi avoided the use of foreshortening and per- spective, allowing measurements to be taken from the drawing. Though no scale is indicated, the representation of the building and its main elements are perfectly to scale. Peruzzi’s analytical representation of the Pantheon served as the model for several later authors – Serlio’s illustrations of the section of the portico (Fig. 3.2)3 and the roof girders (Fig. 3.3) in his Il Terzo Libro (1540) were very probably derived from the Ferrara drawing.4 In an article from 1966, Howard Burns analysed Peruzzi’s drawing in detail, and suggested that the architect and antiquarian Pirro Ligorio took the sheet to Ferrara in 1569. -

Nel proporre cantieri scuola che possano favorire nel Lazio il recupero di saperi specifici e di competenze specialistiche e locali, qualificazioni che in passato erano garantite dalle corporazioni di arti e mestieri e dalle fabbricerie - opere o “ope” delle singole fabbriche - si sono individuati alcuni primi possibili siti, diffusi al territorio di tutta la regione, per cercare di attivare o meglio riattivare tali processi di formazione e di svolgimento di concrete attività, che assicurano il duplice risultato di aderire, tra i principi fondamentali della Costituzione, sia all’incremento delle possibilità e della qualità del lavoro (art. -

PASSEPARTOUR 2019 FIRENZE OLTRARNO THE KEYS OF ACCESSIBILITY Florence is a world heritage site and as such it must be accessible to all, without exclusion. Florence welcomes people with physical disabilities due to an abundance of pedestrian areas and accessible historical and artistic sites. It is also unde- niable that some routes of the city-center - similar to many other historical cities throughout the world - may present some difficulties for people using wheelchairs: for example narrow streets, tiny sidewalks that are not easily passable or not homogeneous pavement. To address this problem and provide information on which paths are the best to follow for people with physical disabilities, the Municipality of Florence in collaboration with Kinoa Srl have designed and published this Guide. The PASSEPARTOUR project is made up of four volumes, each describing four different tourist itineraries "without barriers". In addition, the guide provides a map of the historical city-center, highlighting all the areas that can be navigated with complete autonomy, or with the support of a helper. In addition, Kinoa has developed the navigation app Kimap, which acts as a companion tool to the guide for the mobility of disabled people. Kimap can be downloaded for free on every smartphone: the app shows the most accessible path to reach your desired destination and is constantly updated. We hope that this project will contribute to improve the tourist experi- ence for those visiting our marvellous City, opening the doors to its extraordinary heritage.
