Résumé : Les études de phylogénie moléculaire sur les Lépidoptères Rhopalocères et Zygènes sont de plus en plus nombreuses ces dernières années modifiant la systématique et la taxinomie de ces deux groupes. Une mise à jour complète est réalisée dans ce travail. Un cadre décisionnel a été élaboré pour les niveaux spécifiques et infra-spécifique avec une approche intégrative de la taxinomie. Ce cadre intégre notamment un aspect biogéographique en tenant compte des zones-refuges potentielles pour les espèces au cours du dernier maximum glaciaire. Cette démarche permet d’avoir une approche homogène pour le classement des taxa aux niveaux spécifiques et infra-spécifiques. Les conséquences pour l’acquisition des données dans le cadre d’un inventaire national sont développées. Summary : Studies on molecular phylogenies of Butterflies and Burnets have been increasingly frequent in the recent years, changing the systematics and taxonomy of these two groups. A full update has been performed in this work. -

Abstract Landscape variables that best explain genetic differentiation may not also best explain dispersal patterns, but many studies use genetic differentiation as a proxy for dispersal. I tested the effects of landscape on both genetic differentiation and dispersal in parallel, to explore whether landscape effects on genetic differentiation between populations and landscape effects on dispersal would be comparable in such contexts. I used circuit theory (Circuitscape) and least cost transect analysis to evaluate the effects of landscape on both movement and genetic differentiation of the butterfly, Parnassius smintheus, in the Jumpingpound Ridge study system. -

It celebrates the unique place of books in our hearts and minds, taking you on a journey through the history of book production, design and illustration, from the medieval era to the present day. BOOKS AND IDEAS ‘[T]he book is an extension of the eye...’ Marshall McLuhan The history of ideas is mirrored in the history of the book. Books have altered the course of history itself, through the dissemination of ideas that have changed how we think about the world and ourselves. In many cultures across different eras, books have played a highly symbolic and iconic role. There was a time when it was thought that the world’s knowledge could be collected between the covers of a book. The information explosion of recent times now makes it impossible to contain the world’s knowledge within one library, let alone in one book, yet books continue to be a powerful means of informing and inspiring new generations. The Dome Galleries You are standing in what was once the book stacks for the whole library. This photograph shows the storage of ‘elephant folios’ (very large books) in this very spot. Librarians used the spiral metal stairs to retrieve the books requested by readers sitting at desks below in the Dome Reading Room. -

Abstract. Koramius charltonius (Gray, 1853) (Lepidoptera: Papilionidae) is distributed in the mountains of Central Asia. We analysed genetic and phylogeographic patterns throughout the western part of its range using a mitochondrial marker (COI). We also analysed the wing pattern using multivariate statistics. We found that the species contains several unique haplotypes in the west and shared haplotypes in the east. The haplotype groups do not correspond to the wing pattern and also the described subspecies do not correspond to either the haplotypes or the groups circumscribed by the wing pattern. Currently, there are more than ten subspecies of K. charltonius in Central Asia; based on our analyses we suggest a reduction to only five of them. The fol- lowing nomenclatural changes are applied: (1) K. charltonius aenigma Dubatolov & Milko, 2003, syn. n., K. charltonius sochivkoi Churkin, 2009, syn.n., and K. -

This range represents the eastern limit of the mountain system of the Mon golian Altai. The new subspecies is related to P. phoebus alpestris V erity , 1911, stat. nov. The last taxon was sometimes treated as an ecological form, but represents a good subspecies, ac cording to new studies. Zusammenfassung: Von einer kleinen, isolierten Bergkette im Südwesten der Mongolei (Gobi- Altai aimak, 30 km südlich von Biger somon) wird Parnassius phoebus tsenguun subspec. nov. beschrieben. Diese Bergkette ist die Ostgrenze frd Gebirgssystems des Mongolischen Altai. Die neue Unterart ist mit Parnassius phoebus alpestris V erity , 1911, stat. nov., verwandt. Letz teres Taxon wurde manchmal als ökologische Form behandelt, stellt aber nach neueren Unter suchungen eine gute Unterart dar.
