Page 1 of 1 September 2011 Bell County Expo Center Enhances Sound with Community Located deep in the heart of central Texas, Belton's Bell County Expo Center is a domed multi-purpose arena that is home to the CenTex Barracudas indoor football team. The 6,559-seat regional event center also hosts the annual Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame and the Central Texas State Fair, as well as more than 200 community events each year. At just over 100,000 square feet, the main Exposition Building is the largest of its kind in Central Texas. The expansive complex also includes the Main Arena, used for trade shows and expositions, a luxurious special events room that accommodates up to 250 guests and an assembly hall where as many as 1,200 people can gather. With a wide range of events throughout the year, the Expo Center recently decided to revamp their audio system. The original sound system, based around Community’s RS880 three-way system, was still in great shape, but supporting the high-level music used in today's concerts and events called for a substantial boost in sound pressure levels. The upgraded system comprises a series of Community M4 drivers in PC494 and PC1594M horns, with low frequency support from four R6 bass horns. The precision molding process used in the construction of the fiberglass horns provides consistent and predictable pattern control. The horns are also weather-resistant, an important factor at the Expo Center where dust and dirt are frequently kicked up by rodeos, livestock expositions and monster truck rallies. New Product Update: DS-Series Surface Mount Loudspeakers Community has expanded the Distributed Design Series with the addition of several new high-output, low profile surface-mount loudspeakers. The 5-inch DS5 is a two-way compact system, ideal for installations where space is at a premium. For larger installations, the 8-inch DS8 provides higher sound pressure levels, higher sensitivity and greater bass extension. The 8-inch DS8SUB subwoofer complements the DS5 and DS8 full-range models with extended low frequency performance for musical applications. The new surface-mount DS line is designed to deliver the same voicing and performance as the ceiling models, along with a range of features to make the installer’s job easier and more efficient. The DS- Series is equipped with built-in autoformers that enable full output with 70V or 100V distribution lines. All models accommodate 8-ohm as well as 70V/100V applications with a convenient front-accessible power tap switch located behind a rotatable logo. The unique Infin-A-Ballâ„¢ multi-angle wall mounting bracket is designed for precise positioning to facilitate low profile installation. The Infin-A-Ball arm bracket is also prewired with a Euroblock connector to conceal the wiring, providing a clean, professional installation. Eureka Casino Resort Upgrades with Distributed Design Series Nestled among the scenic red mesas of the southern Nevada desert, the Eureka Casino Resort is a favorite with golfers and gamers alike. The 214-room resort is located about 80 miles north of Las Vegas, surrounded by six world class golf courses, and offers a variety of slot and video poker machines, blackjack, craps, roulette, and a 24-hour poker room with daily tournaments. Eureka is also frequently used for activities supporting the surrounding community of Mesquite. The Casino recently underwent major renovations with the construction of a resort-style pool and cabana, updated guest rooms, and various upgrades to the 30,000 square foot casino, including a state-of-the-art audio system featuring Community’s Distributed Design Series ceiling loudspeakers. The casino needed an audio system that could handle a wide range of music and sound output requirements. With so many concerts and public events going on, intelligibility and musicality were both big factors. The contractor was looking for the full-range performance of a true two-way co-axial speaker and the D-Series ceiling loudspeakers fit their requirements. 20 D5 five- inch, 24 D6 six-inch, and 48 D8 eight-inch ceiling loudspeakers were installed throughout the casinos. The installation team was instantly impressed with the robustness of the D-Series and the Drop-Stopâ„¢ feature that provides spring-loaded legs to support the back-can, while the Twist-Assistâ„¢ feature performs similarly when the loudspeaker back-cans were pre-installed. This allowed for a quick installation and seamless integration into the casino’s custom designed ceiling tile. Community Chosen for New Stadion Piast Stadium Located in Gliwice, in the Upper Silesia region of Poland, the new Stadion Piast is the first stadium in the Silesia region to comply with UEFA regulations for international stadia, including the requirements for sound reinforcement and evacuation systems. Home to Polish Ekstraklasa league club, Gliwicki Klub Sportowy Piast Gliwice’s new 10,000-seat stadium is built on the site of the old stadium and incorporates a state-of-the-art sound system. To provide the highest intelligibility, optimum coverage and all-weather reliability, the main system is based around Community R-Series loudspeakers. 32 R.5-66TZ’s, 28 R.5SUB-T’s and 2 R1- 94Z’s were used for the arena and thorough modelling was carried out in advance to ensure that the system would meet the specifications required for the UEFA regulations.
