Dear Southampton Village Community,

The New York State Department of Health has released new updates regarding the COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan. Phase 1a of vaccine distribution began on January 4, 2021, and Phase 1b began on Monday, January 11, 2021. In response to CDC guidance, on January 12, 2021 New York State expanded vaccination eligibility to include individuals age 65 and older as well as immunocompromised individuals under the age of 65. Below are some helpful resources for vaccine information:

1. NYSDOH Vaccine Eligibility Website: This website determines eligibility to receive the vaccine, and if you are eligible, it will show you how to schedule an appointment. 2. NYSDOH and Governor Cuomo continue to provide us with new information daily, so we will update you as we are made aware of further developments.

As of January 12, 2021, the following groups are now eligible for vaccination: • Individuals age 65 and over • Individuals under age 65 with comorbid conditions: cancer, kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, obesity, pregnancy and smokers • Civilian Staff: o Fire Service Workers, including firefighters and investigators (professional and volunteer) o Police Officers o Public Safety Communications (Emergency Communication and Public Safety Answering Point Personnel, including dispatchers and technicians) o Court Officers o Other Police or Peace Officers • School Employees: o P-12 school or school district faculty or staff (includes all teachers, substitute teachers, student teachers, school administrators, paraprofessional staff and support staff including drivers) o Contractors working in a P-12 school or school district (including contracted bus drivers) o Employees or support staff of licensed, registered, approved or legally exempt group child care providers o In-person college instructors

o Contractors working in a P-12 school or school district (including contracted bus drivers) o Employees or support staff of licensed, registered, approved or legally exempt group child care providers o In-person college instructors • Public Transport Employees: o and airport employees o Passenger railroad employees o Subway and mass transit employees o Ferry employees o Public bus employees • Individuals in Other High-Risk Professional Settings: o Individuals living in a homeless shelter where sleeping, bathing or eating accommodations must be shared with individuals and families who are not part of your household o Individuals working (paid or unpaid) in a homeless shelter where sleeping, bathing or eating accommodations must be shared by individuals and families who are not part of the same household, in a position where there is potential for interaction with shelter residents o Public-facing grocery store workers

As a reminder, the following groups are prioritized for vaccination under Phase 1a: • High-risk hospital workers • Residents and staff at nursing homes and other congregate care facilities • Federally Qualified Health Center employees • EMS workers • Coroners, medical examiners and certain funeral workers • Urgent Care providers • Individuals administering COVID-19 vaccines • All outpatient or ambulatory front-line, high-risk health care workers of any age who provide direct in-person patient care • All staff who are in direct contact with patients (i.e., intake staff) • All front-line, high-risk public health workers who have direct contact with patients, including those conducting COVID-19 tests, handling COVID-19 specimens and COVID-19 vaccinations • Staff of nursing homes/skilled nursing facilities who did not receive COVID vaccination through the Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program

We also want to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Southampton Hospital for their outstanding work on the front lines of vaccine distribution.
