The vehicle has been searched but nothing appears to have been stolen. 06/03/2019 23/9524/19 – London End, Priors Hardwick Between Wed 06/03/2019 13:00 and Wed 06/03/2019 13:30 suspects have forcibly entered a property and stolen items of jewellery. 07/03/2019 23/9648/19 0 – The Green, Long Itchington Between Wed 27/02/2019 17:00 and Thu 07/03/2019 09:00 a life size cast metal statue of a black labrador dog with a pheasant in its mouth was stolen from the driveway. 07/03/2019 23/9662/19 – Cox Crs, Long Itchington Property was forcibly entered and an untidy search was made and the keys to a vehicle parked in the driveway were used to steal it. 08/03/2019 23/9734/19 – Avon Dassett An insecure outbuilding was entered and a Hayter Harrier lawnmower was stolen. 08/03/2019 23/9757/19 – Avon Dassett Between Thu 07/03/2019 04:00 and Thu 07/03/2019 05:00 padlocks to a secure outbuilding were cut and a large quantity of power tools were stolen. 11/03/2019 23/10153/19 – Station Rd, Bishops Itchington Between Sat 09/03/2019 17:00 and Mon 11/03/2019 14:00 a white van, parked in a front garden, was stolen. 12/03/2019 23/10300/19 – Top St, Northend Between Mon 11/03/2019 23:15 and Tue 12/03/2019 06:45 a property was forcibly entered and searched. A work bag, wallet and car keys were stolen. Two vehicles parked in the driveway were stolen. 12/03/2019 23/10400/19 – Gaydon Rd, Bishops Itchington Between 08:25 and 18:30 the property was forcibly entered and intruders made an untidy search and taken items of jewellery. 14/03/2019 23/10682/19 – Oxford Canal, Lower Shuckburgh The front window of a canal boat was smashed but there was no entry. 17/03/2019 23/11057/19 – Russell Cl, Long Itchington The rear windscreen to a secured and parked vehicle was smashed. 18/03/2019 23/11284/19 – Stockton Rd, Stockton Between Sun 17/03/2019 18:00 and Mon 18/03/2019 09:00 a 3ft tall stone greyhound statue was stolen from outside of a house. 19/03/2019 23/11345/19 – St Michaels Rd, Claverdon Between Mon 18/03/2019 14:00 and Mon 18/03/2019 15:00 a secured van’s rear windows were smashed, Stihl and Husqvarna saws were stolen. 27/03/2019 23/12661/19 – St Michaels Church, Church St, Stockton Between Wed 27/03/2019 14:00 and Wed 27/03/2019 14:15 victim left her handbag unattended on a pew at the rear of a church she was attending on a retreat day. Unknown offender/s have taken the victims purse out of her handbag. The purse contained approximately £100 in cash and several credit cards and store cards. Cards have been cancelled and no reported use. 28/03/2019 23/12779/19 – Knightcote, Southam Between Wed 27/03/2019 17:00 and Thu 28/03/2019 12:00 forcible entry to garden and outbuildings to steal a Kazuma mini Falcon 90 Deluxe, blue, quad bike and a Stihl and Robbi petrol chain saws and accessories. 28/03/2019 23/12815/19 – Post Office, Coventry St, Southam A customer dropped £220 from a pocket on leaving the shop and CCTV shows that it was picked up and taken by someone who made off in a green/grey Cherokee jeep. 28/03/2019 23/12856/19 – Rugby Rd, Stockton At 17:45 the property was forcibly entered, an untidy search made, watches and a jewellery box containing several items of jewellery were stolen. 29/03/2019 23/12943/19 – Collingham Ln, Long Itchington Between Tue 26/03/2019 00:00 and Wed 27/03/2019 00:00 an insecure outbuilding was entered and a manual hedge cutter and a Makita electric drill in a blue box were stolen. With a population approaching 600, it is a rural community that enjoys a largely unspoilt environment. For a parish of our size we enjoy good facilities. These include a Parish Church, a Primary School, a Village Hall with a part-time Post Office and sports facilities including football and cricket pitches and two hard tennis courts. In 2005, a Parish Plan was adopted, copies of which can be found on the village website at www.priorsmarston.org and in autumn 2017 it was agreed that it needed to be updated. Following a well-attended Parish meeting, a detailed Parish Survey was conducted early in 2018 and the full report of the survey is available on the village website. The results of the survey form the backbone of this plan and a summary of actions can be found at the back of this document.

Apologies were received from: District Councillor Chris Williams Miss I Davies; Mrs B Harvey Mr and Mrs P Hobday; Mr and Mrs A Hone; Mrs L Jameson; Mr M Pemberton; Ms J Redfern; Mr A Towler; Mrs R White Mrs Kelly welcomed everyone to the meeting, and announced that matters were in hand to install a sound system in the church using funds raised at the Fete and those donated from Tea at Three. 2. The Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday 20TH April 2017 had been circulated and, with one spelling amendment, were taken as read. It was proposed by Mrs Sutherland, seconded by Mr Hodgson and agreed nem/con. that these were a correct record of the meeting. 3. Matters Arising Trees Mrs Sutherland wished to confirm the status of the tree. It was confirmed that only land up to one metre from the edge of the road surface was the responsibility of the County Highways Authority. Highways As promised the road signs had been cleared of vegetation and cleaned. The pothole near the Morrells drying barns had been repaired as had other minor breaks in the road surface. Mrs Kelly felt that Patch Byrne was to be applauded for completing the work as promised.

    THE VETERAN TREES OF WARWICKSHIRE Steven Falk, 2011 An ancient oak at Ragley Park THE VETERAN TREES OF WARWICKSHIRE Introduction Traditionally, much fuss has been made of old buildings and other historic man-made structures in our countryside and built environment. Rather neglected amongst all of this until recently has been concern over some of our oldest living features, veteran trees. Through a series of historic circumstances, the British countryside has come to support a far greater density of old trees than most parts of either Europe or lowland North America. They survive in our ancient hedges (which can be of medieval origin or older), former deer parks, and sometimes perched on the sides of steep hills where various potentially damaging agricultural activities have failed to reach them. Many have seen the landscape around them change out of all recognition as they have become swallowed up by urban sprawl or changing land-use. Deer parks may have become replaced by business parks or golf courses but the original trees sometimes survive e.g. at Stoneleigh Park. Rural hedgerows may now be urban property boundaries. This results in an often incongruous modern location for many old trees. However, it also means that such trees furnish valuable clues about the history of an area, firing the imaginations of local people and furnishing a stronger sense of place and local identity. Imagine Baginton without its great oak. Unfortunately changing circumstances also result in much loss and damage and makes veteran tree conservation particularly challenging in a world where health and safety and legal liability carry a lot of sway.

Using microfiche loaned to the project by the LDS, volunteers, recruited online transcribed the pages of the enumerators’ books for the Warwickshire 1891 census. Other volunteers checked the data using Free Census software. Finally, the organiser validated the data, using yet another piece of Free Census software. The data was collected in 1891. the raw data was in the form of microfiche, organised in accordance with the PRO regulations. Copyright is held by the Crown and TNA confirmed that publishing the transcripts online is allowed.
