The first 45 minutes of this made-for-cable movie is a painful slog, with lots of buildup and foreshadowing that goes nowhere, with little character development we could care about. However, it's necessary for that second half to feel as insane as it is, since it becomes one minute chase sequence. Every bit of exploitative joy you could get out of it happens. Every chance they get to err on the side of excess, they take. It doesn't make this a good movie, but damn does it ever make it a fun one. This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth. I don't normally care to share my opinions on a movie, but I feel it is my duty to warn any potential viewer of this movie that if you choose to watch this all the way through Wheels of Terror is probably what you think it is: a melodramatic, TV action-thriller from the '90s. This movie is basically if Duel and The Car had a love child. It's harmlessly idiotic. It's somehow silly yet boring at the same time. Cain directed one of my favorite films Young Guns but alas none of that magic is seen here. A very average car movie with a few decent stunts one officer gets hit standing in front of his cycle and his boot comes flying off in slow motion! This isn't a terrible film, considering what it is, but it should be pretty far down your list of "evil car" movies to watch. Stranger danger fear mongering trash from top to bottom. Parts of the car chases were excellent but a vhs rip of a slow mo car chase is not incredibly engaging. Lots of slow motion car crashing and small jumps, a cool looking evil car, and a souped up short bus. The story is lean and gets to the point quickly with no melodramatic subplots. Don't know of why this gets so much hate. Its simple and to the point. I will admit that the fact that the driver is a pedophile does bring down the fun quotient quite a bit though. In a sense, this a remake of 's The Car, only divorced of the previous film's painful obsession with the collapse of the American social order in the wake of Vietnam and the Counterculture of the 60's. Instead of threatening the authority and agency of the male patriarch figure a classic Western Sheriff , in Wheels of Terror the car is a direct threat to the safety of women and girls. It is therefore I believe, one of those rare and elusive specimens of the feminist horror film. Terrible Wheels honestly was kinda into this. Review by TheCinephobe. This dissertation fills that void by demonstrating an ongoing negotiation of Gothic conventions in select works by canonical Danish writers such as B.S. Ingemann, Hans Christian Andersen, and Karen Blixen (Isak Dinesen), as well as contemporary writers such as Peter Høeg and Leonora Christina Skov. By exposing the journalistic writers add focus, detail and substantiation to their sto- ries. Linguistic exposures are tools that evoke images in the readers’ minds and help es- tablish and improve the basis of interest and understanding. We are combining linguistic and statistical methods to investigate exposures in the news of five Danish national papers in order to determine how widespread it is, and with what force and impact the techniques are used. Our study contributes to existing knowledge by focusing on form rather than content. We investigate the creative use of specific structural elements of the language as the prevailing contact establishing tools of journalistic discourse. Our data are based on news from Berlingske Tidende, B.T., Politiken, Ekstra Bladet and Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten.     On newspapers in Denmark Among the seven most read daily newspapers in the Kingdom of Denmark, only one is led by a woman as editor-in-chief —and she shares the position with a man. This is the case of Ms. Mette Østergaard, who took over the conservative daily Berlingske as co- editor-in-chief on 1 January 2018. Previously, Mr. Tom Jensen was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, as he still is today, alongside Ms. Østergaard. It is not the first time that Berlingske, Denmark's oldest newspaper, is led by a woman. Ms. Lisbeth Knudsen ran the newspaper from November 2007 to October 2015 and was at the same time CEO of the newspaper’s publishing group, Berlingske Media. And, even before that, Ms. Anne E. Jensen was editor-in-chief of the newspaper from 1996 to 1998. Regarding the rest of Danish newspapers, the influence of women seems to have been more limited, at least at the top position. Reference can be made to the case of Ms. Dorthe Carsen, who has lead, as editor-in-chief, the Midtjyske Medier group, which published around 20 titles in Denmark, or Ms. Ida Ebbensgaard, recently appointed as editor-in-chief of the media company Zetland, succeeding another woman, Ms. Lea Korsgaard. But these designations of a corporate nature have not been translated into greater representation of women as editors-in-chief at the country’s largest daily newspapers.     Without Fear: Isak Dinesen's Winter Tales and Occupied Denmark THOMAS WHISSEN, Wright State University By the time of the German Occupation of Denmark in April, 1940, Isak Dinesen's international reputation was finally beginning to impress her own countrymen who have traditionally waited upon the acclaim of the outside world to allay their suspicion of local talent. For a number of reasons their suspicion of her ran even deeper than usual. For one thing, she was writing in English, and this struck them as self-serving and snobbish, particularly from a woman who had married a title (they knew her as the Baroness von Blixen-Finecke) and, it seemed, assumed airs. For another thing, her first volume of tales, Seven Gothic Tales (Syv fantastiske Fortaellinger) was too exotic— even too erotic—for their taste, and the settings and situations seemed too remote for their liking. Even the very moving memoir, Out of Africa (Den afrikanske Farm), seemed light years away from the mundane social concerns which occupied the minds and energies of her compatriots during that depressed prewar decade. Critics and readers alike felt that she was escaping from, rather than wrestling with, the important issues of the day. Her fame abroad, then, caused the Danes to reassess their first impressions, and gradually, as the Danish critic Tom Kristensen put it, they "began to understand her human loving nature behind the arabesques."1 The war clouds were already gathering over Europe by this time, and suddenly, almost without warning—except to those who dared to look—one country after another was plunged into the darkness of the long German winter of occupation.

With respect to political journalism, this raises the question of whether increased use of expert sources has also led to an increased focus on process relative to substance in election news coverage. As expected, there is an increase in newspapers’ references to experts in their election campaign coverage. However, contrary to our expectations, in both 1998 and 2007, there is an equal number of articles referring to the election campaign’s political content (i.e., they mentioned the topics promoted by the political actors during the cam- paign) and to the political process. And extremely few articles included meta-discussions. Keywords: process news, meta-coverage, election coverage, experts Introduction Immediately after having taken office on April 5, 2009, Denmark’s new Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen criticized the media’s political commentators for focusing on the political process rather than on the substance of politics (politik.jp.dk, 17.04.09). In his critique, the Danish Prime Minister joined a host of voices not only in Denmark, but also internationally who find that political journalism has moved too far towards focusing on process rather than substance, and that this change has been reinforced by the media’s increased use of references to experts, pundits, political commentators and the like.

What were the Published Sept 28, 2018 reasons for this divergence? When examining the community-level political argumentation, an exclusion paradigm played a crucial role, but other factors, such as confusion about the core concepts and goals of PVE, the political dynamics at play, and the prevailing decision-making structures also influenced the differential outcomes despite the similarity of the situations. Since community-level PVE practices constitute a rapidly growing field, there is a lesson to be learned from the Danish cases: building coherent and continuous PVE practices is not only a matter for professional practitioners, but also calls for a solid understanding of its goals at the political level.
