B-boy Jc Jedor was One of the judges for this year Another aspect I like to advice is B-boys should go and learn properly Bc One Nigeria Cypher, How do you feel about it? how the judging system works so we can improve as B-boys this is Because you tried calling him out of his judging because Judges complain most of the time about Crews lacking seat?: foundation in breaking also I want to point out something about my style, there are rumors that my style is jumping around but B-boys I had a conversation with JC as a friend he is to me to come and battle, this is because he is seen all the time have to look at B-boy Thesis, B-boy Menno they have their style and judging but this is not the reason why I did not turn up to they are different and this is to say that my style is me and not any qualify for the finals. I sounded this because he is one of one. the B-boys that we all respect but we have not seen him How do you feel about your crew loosing to 619 crew at Boty battle once only judging in all breaking platforms but the Nigeria 2019 and you losing to Gidinasty at BotyNg 1 vs 1 ?: idea is if he comes out to battle, it will give the scene an Well there is no difference between what my crew street cypher did edge because he is a pro b-boy as claimed and there is and what 619 Crew did we did battle and we did our very best, its just nothing wrong for him battling. annoying when the judges say we lack foundation. For my solo battle in Boty against Gidinasty if you have the video check out my rounds How do you advice the scene: and compare to what Gdinasty did, he actually repeated his moves The scene is growing with platforms for b-boys to and yet he won. He even met me at he end of the battle to tell me I brought fire to him, he is a nice B-boy but I had more advantage. In participate and this is just one step for us as a community. Boty Ng the Mcs are also part of B-boys problems. Well I advice that B-boys here is Nigeria have to be more informed and we have to put our egos down and learn from each other. (Visit page 4 for continuation.) PROMOTING HIP-HOP IN AFRICA NORTH B-BOYS ARE NOT HAPPY (B-BOY SPINOZA) Next page B-boy Spinoza explained to Loudbase Though we are a bit distance and it will that B-boys in the North are not very definitely be challenging for b-boys to happy that they were not part of the get to Lagos to participate. Its late now Redbull Bc one Nigeria cypher, Most of but my advice is that Redbull should do the B-boys in the North have been something next time too get the B-boys training. The last event they ever attended from the North to be also part of this so far was B-boy Steady jam in 2017 and exercise. later I judged in 2018 in Lagos. There are good number of B-boys in the North. There are B-boys in Kastina, Zaria, Kaduna, and also in Abuja and of cause there are B-boys in Jos were I reside currently. As i speak to you the scene has started in Benue State. As a Judge in the redbull Bc one Nigeria cypher is a good experience for me at least. I will be able to share my experience with the B-boys in the north. NORTH B-BOYS ARE NOT First, the information did not really touch the ground, I mean if it gets to the south region and HAPPY (B-boy Spinoza) the West then the information should have gotten to the North. PROMOTING HIP-HOP IN AFRICA B-BOY C-MAX TO LOUDBASE: WHY I DID NOT COME OUT FOR REDBULL BC ONE NIGERIA CYPHER 2019 (Continuation) Rapmana Tha X needs to hype well because this is a breaking event and a competition for that matter, his hype should be able to get the guys gingered that’s the area he is lacking. But he has not much levels , I like his charisma, Will you be battling in Bc one Nigeria Gidinasty is really taking more advantage, he will win Cypher Next year?: from all I have seen. Yes will by the grace of God, I will have to How About B-boy Midnight, looks like he is getting bring my best. To be precise from what I have to the finals: seen so far I will have to work on Music and other aspect of my Breaks. Yes from what I can also see compare to Gidinasty, Midnight gat Moves but I still know that Gidinasty What have you seen so far in this Redbull Bc will win the battle because he shows much of him in One Nigeria Cypher 2019?: control of the battle. Well Gidi nasty is taking advantage of the situation, he has music of cause this is his advantage and he is probably making good use of it. PROMOTING HIP-HOP IN AFRICA The question initially was if 2017 defending champion of Redbull Bc One Nigeria Cypher B-boy Smoke of Outsiders crew will defend his tittle in the Redbull bc one cypher Nigeria 2019. B-boy Smoke explains briefly to Loudbase why he did not win his battle against B- boy Tobest of 619 Crew. He described B-boy Tobest to be a “Biter” that his moves against him was copied from B-boy Mounir of Vagabond crew (France). B-boy Smoke Explained Briefly to Loudbase why he was Knocked out in his B-boy Smoke: first round at the Redbull Bc One Cypher Nigeria When I was on stage I did not hear the beat properly, it was a final. problem for me, Secondly my opponent by name B-boy Tobest is a Copy Cat, all his moves are copied from Mounir of Vagabond crew in France and I don’t regard him to be original. Our judges don’t see this as well they just Judge. All that mattered to me on stage was the sound. It was actually difficult for me to actually dance well because the sound was not good. But so far so good it was ok because I came to dance and not to do copied work. I have won before, its on record and I am so proud of it. • The B-Boy Summit Internationally Acclaimed B-Boy/B-Girl Event
THE B-BOY SUMMIT INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED B-BOY/B-GIRL EVENT Produced by No Easy Props OVERVIEW The B-boy Summit continues to be a major trendsetter in Hip-Hop street dance, art and music culture. Established in 1994, The Summit presented innovative ideas in Hip-Hop culture, offering a conference forum complete with competitions, performances, panels, workshops, and a marketplace for consumer friendly products marketed toward the Hip-Hop community. Never content with success, The B-boy Summit continues its mission to bring the hottest street dance, art, and music above ground to the masses. The B-boy Summit has grown into an internationally acclaimed 3 day festival incorporating all aspects of Hip-Hop in different plateaus, including the most intense battles, rawest circles, theatre performances, a DJ/MC Talent Showcase and live aerosol art painting. The B-boy Summit was created in 1994 out of the need for a community orientated Hip-Hop event that encompassed knowledge of the history of Hip-Hop culture and the skills of B-boying and B-girling. At that point in time B-boys and B-girls didn’t have a platform in which to come together, dance and pay homage to the traditional dance of Hip-Hop. Each year the event has expanded to encompass B-boys, B-girls, MCs, Aerosol Artists, and DJs from across the globe, steadily building into what is now the foremost Hip-Hop cultural event in the world. More recently, The Summit has become one of the most important events for Lockers, Poppers, Freestyle and House Dancers to take part in during The Summit’s Funk Fest.

  • Danse : Quels Sont Les Meilleurs Artistes De Breakdance En France ?

  • Social and Dynamic Productions of Breaking and Hip Hop Culture
School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry “Our Lives are Lived in Freestyle”: Social and Dynamic Productions of Breaking and Hip Hop Culture Lucas Marie This thesis is presented for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy of Curtin University September 2018 DECLARATION To the best of my knowledge and belief this thesis contains no material previously published by any other person except where due acknowledgment has been made. This thesis contains no material which has been accepted for the award of any other degree or diploma in any other university. Signature: ………Lucas Marie………….……….. Date: …28/9/2018… ABSTRACT Based on fieldwork with breakers living in New York, Osaka, and Perth, as well from prior experiences within my field of study, this thesis builds on a growing body of scholarship which examines the productions, expressions and consumptions of hip hop culture. This study looks at how breakers—hip hop dance practitioners—work to produce, sustain and transform hip hop culture in ways that are local and unique. It is not, however, my intention to set out a definitive list of good or bad, authentic or unauthentic, notions of hip hop, or to suggest that there is one true or correct way in which to participate and identify as a member of. What is emphasised are the ways in which breakers, through their embodied dance practices, negotiate, express, understand and conceptualise hip hop. The title of this thesis, “Our Lives are Lived in Freestyle”, is a line from a spoken word poem, by a breaker from Texas named Marlon. In breaking, to “freestyle” means to improvise in the moment; to use the tools one has at their disposal to perform and create.
