School Sport ACT Calendar More info Community Sport Information & Opportunity Judo Australia Judo Australia (JA) is pleased to be holding the Judo National School Championships on Friday 11th September on the Gold Coast. This event is being run prior to the Gold Coast International Open event and with the support of Judo Queensland. This event is open to students from Australia and overseas aged 9-17. Please see the Event program here for further details and stay up to date with the latest details via the National School Championship webpage. Online event entries will open in May. Please complete and submit the following form by Sunday, 22 March 2020: https://forms.gle/GXHhaVsmVdsHDh81A For further information, please contact Farah Atallah, [email protected] (team manager) This is not a SSACT event/program and is solely the responsibility of the advertising organisation listed Little Athletics ACT - Free Athletics Clinics at your School Through the Little Athletics Program for Schools (LAPS), Little Athletics ACT aims to deliver an outstanding educational athletic program that provides a high quality experience to every participant. The children involved will develop basic running, jumping and throwing skills by participating in a highly active session with a qualified coach, all of whom hold a current Working with Vulnerable People check. From 1 June 2020 we will be running sessions for all grade levels, and these will be provided at no charge to the school. Should schools require coaching classes prior to 1 June 2020, these are offered at a rate of $2.50 per student per session. Please note: - Group sizes cannot exceed 30 students per coach at any time - It is necessary that one teacher accompany each group - Each LAPS session is 30 min in duration - LAPS sessions booked in before 1 September 2020 must have access to an inside area to alleviate the necessity to reschedule due to inclement weather. It is a simple 15 minute course which gives a snapshot of the anti-doping rules and potential risks, with helpful hints about how to fuel your body the right way and resources to help keep young athletes clean and fair throughout their sporting journey. The course is aimed at high school students, their teachers, parents and grassroots sport levels (athletes, coaches, etc.) The course is available here: https://elearning.asada.gov.au/ On completion, learners will have a basic understanding of clean, fair sport and why it is important and know what resources are available to help you support clean, fair sport. Athletics ACT - Teacher Professional Development: Running an Athletics Event Athletics ACT Technical Officials will deliver a 2 hour practical session encompassing all event groups. Focus areas will include: Safety, Equipment, Rules and How to run an event (including how to run an event with less officials than required to run a sanctioned event) Event group focuses will include: Track (incl. starting), Horizontal jumps (ling and triple), High Jump and Throws (discus, shotput, javelin* secondary schools only) / There will be a min. of 8 participants for each session which allows "mock" competition and for participants to practice the skills required. A total of 737 clubs entered the FFA Cup 2019, a number that has significantly grown from the first edition of the FFA Cup in 2014, when 617 clubs entered. The FFA Cup 2019 started in February with the Preliminary Rounds to determine the 21 clubs from the semi-professional and amateur tiers. These clubs joined ten of the Hyundai A-League clubs (Western United FC will not participate in this edition) and the reigning National Premier Leagues Champions (Campbelltown City SC) in the Final Rounds. The FFA Cup Final 2019 will be played on Wednesday 23 October with the host city to be determined by a live draw. Each cup tie must be decided on the day, with extra time to decide results of matches drawn after 90 minutes, followed by penalties if required. At least one Member Federation club is guaranteed to progress to the Semi Finals. Previous winners of the FFA Cup are Adelaide United (2014 and 2018), Melbourne Victory (2015), Melbourne City FC (2016) and Sydney FC (2017). Broadcast partners – FOX SPORTS FOX SPORTS will again provide comprehensive coverage of the FFA Cup 2019 Final Rounds. The FFA Cup’s official broadcaster will show one LIVE match per match night from the Round of 32 onwards, while providing coverage and updates, as well as live streams, of non-broadcast matches.
