Magpies Mail Edition Edition 26 – May 2015 WELCOME TO SEASON 2015 In 1970 the Acton Football and Sports Club was given the Your Committee responsibility to sponsor junior Australian Rules football in the fledgling suburbs of West Belconnen. President: Tim Xirakis Vice President (Footy): Rickie Dolliver In 1972 the first teams were fielded under the banner of West Canberra Junior Football Club. In that year the club fielded teams in Vice President (Admin): Emma Simpson all ages from Under 7 to Under 15, with the Under 10s team winning Secretary: Andrew Warden the club’s first premiership. Treasurer: Steve Carter The club later took on the name of the Magpies Junior Football Club. Asst Treasurer Elizabeth Wilson The Magpies Juniors continue to proudly wear the traditional black Registrar: Nicole McCann and white stripes of the Acton and West Canberra Football Clubs. Football Manager: VACANT The Magpies Junior Football Club has a proud tradition of being a Manager’s Coordinator: Nicole McCann family orientated club. The club, and its volunteers, put the extra Fundraising: Julian Mules effort in to get as many kids as possible involved in Australian Rules Canteen Manager: Shelly Dolliver football, and to ensure they have a fun and safe time. A total of 737 clubs entered the FFA Cup 2019, a number that has significantly grown from the first edition of the FFA Cup in 2014, when 617 clubs entered. The FFA Cup 2019 started in February with the Preliminary Rounds to determine the 21 clubs from the semi-professional and amateur tiers. These clubs joined ten of the Hyundai A-League clubs (Western United FC will not participate in this edition) and the reigning National Premier Leagues Champions (Campbelltown City SC) in the Final Rounds. The FFA Cup Final 2019 will be played on Wednesday 23 October with the host city to be determined by a live draw.
