Modern Phytomorphology 9 (Suppl.): 35–73, 2016 SOME NOTES ON THE GENUS ACONITUM IN CHORNOHOra MTS. Andrew V. Novikoff 1*, Józef Mitka 2, Alexander Kuzyarin 1, Oleg Orlov 1, Marina Ragulina 1 Abstract. The paper is a contribution to ecology and chorology ofAconitum in high-mountain zone of the Ukrainian Carpathians. It was confirmed that genusAconitum in the Chornogora mountain range is represented by 14 taxa, and 7 more taxa were listed as potential for this region. These taxa belong to 3 subgenera and are divided on 4 main biomorphological groups delimited on the base of their habitat, life form, ecology and altitudinal distribution. The soil and vegetation types for all taxa have been identified and the maps of their distribution have been prepared. The most influent threats and their categories were identified. Threat category for A. × nanum was changed from DD to VU, and for A. firmum subsp. fussianum from NT to VU. Red List of Vascular Plants of the Czech Republic: 3Rd Edition

(2012): Red List of vascular plants of the Czech Republic: 3rd edition. – Preslia 84: 631–645. The knowledge of the flora of the Czech Republic has substantially improved since the second ver- sion of the national Red List was published, mainly due to large-scale field recording during the last decade and the resulting large national databases. In this paper, an updated Red List is presented and compared with the previous editions of 1979 and 2000. The complete updated Red List consists of 1720 taxa (listed in Electronic Appendix 1), accounting for more then a half (59.2%) of the native flora of the Czech Republic. Of the Red-Listed taxa, 156 (9.1% of the total number on the list) are in the A categories, which include taxa that have vanished from the flora or are not known to occur at present, 471 (27.4%) are classified as critically threatened, 357 (20.8%) as threatened and 356 (20.7%) as endangered. From 1979 to 2000 to 2012, there has been an increase in the total number of taxa included in the Red List (from 1190 to 1627 to 1720) and in most categories, mainly for the following reasons: (i) The continuing human pressure on many natural and semi-natural habitats is reflected in the increased vulnerability or level of threat to many vascular plants; some vulnerable species therefore became endangered, those endangered critically threatened, while species until recently not classified may be included in the Red List as vulnerable or even endangered. -

They are spread exclusively on acidic, siliceous substrates. This study presents new data on their distribution, floristic and ecological structure and phytosociological affin- ities. The research is based on 156 phytosociological relevés. Unweighted pair–group method with arithmetic averages (UPGMA) was employed and a detrended correspondence analysis (DCA) was performed prior to the syntaxonomical decision. Three new associations and the new alliance Genistion lydiae have been described and classified within the orderLavandulo stoechadis-Hypericetalia olympici Mucina in Mucina et al. 2016 of the class Cisto-Lavanduletea stoechadis Br.-Bl. in Br.-Bl. et al. 1940. The study has also emphazised the potential threats concerning a decline of the habitat area and proposed some conservation measures. Keywords: Cisto-Lavanduletea stoechadis, Genistion lydiae, grazing impact, shrub vegetation, vulnerable habitat types Introduction The communities of Genista lydia Boiss. and G. rumelica cal part of the Balkan vegetation. These communities are Velen. represent indigenous and rare vegetation described strongly influenced by anthropogenic activities and have a from the Southern Balkans and mostly south Bulgaria very limited range and for these reasons, they have been de- (Bondev 1991). -

Genus Aconitum in Slovakia: a Phenetic Approach
ISSN 2226-3063 e-ISSN 2227-9555 Modern Phytomorphology 11: 51–89, 2017 doi: 10.5281/zenodo.834040 RESEARCH ARTICLE Genus Aconitum in Slovakia: a phenetic approach Andriy Novikov * State Natural History Museum NAS of Ukraine, Teatralna str. 18, 79008 Lviv, Ukraine; [email protected] * Andriy Novikov formerly known as Andrew Novikoff starting from 2017 changed spelling variant of his name in accordance to legislation limitations Received: 23.04.2017 | Accepted: 28.06.2017 | Published: 23.07.2017 Abstract Comprehensive investigation on herbarium material was realized and taxonomical structure of the genus Aconitum in Slovakia has been ascertained on the base of phenetic analysis. Three new taxa (i.e. A. degenii subsp. degenii, A. moldavicum subsp. hosteanum, and A. moldavicum nothosubsp. confusum stat. nov.) were rediscovered for this region, and for one of them the new status was proposed. Morphological variation of A. anthora and its subdivision onto infraspecific taxa (subsp. anthora and subsp. jacquinii) are discussed. The new key for identification and maps of distribution are represented. Keywords: Aconitum, Slovakia, morphology, phenetics, distribution, taxonomy Introduction different morphological traits of monkshoods were considered for genus taxonomy by In spite of long history of investigation, different authors, and therefore very often taxonomy of the genus Aconitum L. is still taxonomic ranges vary significantly for the much discussed and remains unresolved. Many same taxonomic units (Götz 1967; Kmeťová taxonomic problems arise from the notorious 1982; Skalický 1990; Kadota 1987; Voroshilov hybridity within the genus and subsequent 1990; Tamura 1995; Tzvelev 2001). Taxonomy and Ecology of the Genus Aconitum L. in the Ukrainian Carpathians Andrew V
© Landesmuseum für Kärnten; download www.landesmuseum.ktn.gv.at/wulfenia; www.biologiezentrum.at Wulfenia 18 (2011): 37– 61 Mitteilungen des Kärntner Botanikzentrums Klagenfurt Taxonomy and ecology of the genus Aconitum L. in the Ukrainian Carpathians Andrew V. Novikoff & Józef Mitka Summary: In the Ukrainian Carpathians 12 species of the genus Aconitum occur, circumscribed by three subgenera. General descriptions, ecological characteristics, chorology and threat of 20 Aconitum taxa are given based on herbarium materials and fi eld investigations. It was found out that all studied taxa belong to three ecological groups, which are distributed in diff erent altitudinal belts, to four biomorphological groups and to two main life forms. Keywords: Aconitum, Eastern Carpathians, Linnaean taxonomy, chorology In spite of the long history of investigation, taxonomy of the genus Aconitum is still much discussed and perhaps will remain unresolved. Many taxonomical problems arise from the notorious hybridity within the genus and subsequent origin of putative genetic hybrids, which form a morphological continuum between the parental species (Kadota 1987; Starmühler 2001). In the Ukrainian keys for the species identifi cation often labile and indistinct features as shape of leaves, size of fl owers and height of plants are used. For example, in one of the most popular Ukrainian keys, the 'Plants identifi cation guide for Ukrainian Carpathians' (Chopik 1977), ten species of the genus Aconitum are cited. In another work 'Identifi cation guide for higher plants of Ukraine' (Prokudin 1987) eleven monkshood species are recognized. In both cases, some species were not taxonomically clearly sound. They were clarifi ed in recent taxonomical revisions of the genus Aconitum by Mitka (2000, 2003, 2008) and Starmühler & Mitka (2001). -
