This report contains information about specific shales across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and China from which hydrocarbons are currently being produced or shales that are of interest for hydrocarbon exploitation. New in this report is a section on the Niobrara Formation, an entire section on China, and an expanded section on EMD Gas Shales Commitee, Mid-Year Report, November 7, 2011 Page 1 Europe. The inclusion in this report of shales from which any hydrocarbon is produced reflects the expanded mission of the EMD Gas Shales Committee to serve as a single point of access to technical information on shales regardless of the hydrocarbons produced from them (e.g., gas, oil, condensate).
