Vedu and His Ommacchi Thatha ( Volume-1 )
Vedu and his OmmAcchi ThAthA ( Volume-1 ) Lakshminarasimhan Sridhar Copyright © 2017 Lakshminarasimhan Sridhar All rights reserved. 1 FOREWORD Dear AastikAs ! I am delighted to know that Sri Lakshminarasimhan Sridhar is releasing a new book entitled, “ Vedu and OmmAcchi ThAthA –Volume I” . This book is the first of the series of books covering the Vaibhavams of the illustrious AchAryAs of Srimad Srirangam Andavan Guru Parampara in an innovative manner to meet the existing information needs of the younger generations of the global Sri VaishNava Kudumpam . It is a bhAgyam for Sriman Sridhar to have received the niyamanam of the Current pontiff of Srimad Andavan Asramam , Srimad SrimushNam Andavan Swami to create this series of informative books on Andavan Asrama guru Parampara to reach out to the younger generations . This book and its sequel releases are set in a unique and delightful conversational style that Sriman Sridhar has developed successfully during the past decade . The earlier releases on Chitra Desikeeyam covering the divya charitram of Swamy Vedantha Desikan the Pilgrimage to many famous temples in Karantaka with links to AchArya RaamAnuja in Melnaadu are examples of such books and web sites . I am happy to learn that Sriman Sridhar’s book on the DasAvatarams of Sriman NaarAyaNa set in his inimitable style is getting ready for release soon. Sriman Sridhar addresses very well an existing gap in information identified by our current AchAryas of our Sri VaishNava darsanam especially as it relates to the information needs of the younger generations regarding our noble sampradhAyam . Such books help the Vedu and OmmAcchi Thatha –Volume I elders of the Family also to use them as information resources/teaching tools to introduce the greatness of our AchArya paramparai founded and nurtured by Sriman Narayana . -

AUTHOR'S COPYRIGHT ALLAHABAD LAW JOURNAL PRESS, ALLAHABAD PRINTER M. N. PANDEY DEDICATED WITH PROFOUND RESPECT AND ADMIRATION TO THE MEMORY OF GENERAL SIR ALEXANDER CUNNINGHAM, C.S.T. 1814 1893 FATHER OF INDIAN ARCHAEOLOGY Colonel A. Cunningham, whale he was the Chief Engi- neer of the North-Western Provinces, laid betore Lord Canning in November 1861, a memorandum praying for a complete and systematic archaeological investigation of the ancient historic ruins of Upper India. This led to his appointment as the first Archaeological Surveyor to the Government of India. As director of the Archaeological Survey (1870 1885) he brought to light the immense importance of the archaeological ruins of more than fifty ancient cities including KauSambi in the United Provin- ces. (A.S.R. Vol. I). PREFACE A few of my articles on the early history of KauSambi were published in papers and journals from time to time, and a paper on a controversial point of its history in the second century B.C. was read at the SIXTH ORIENTAL CONFERENCE, held at Baroda. All these formed the nucleus of the present monograph. In it I have endeavoured to present an account of the ancient greatness of KauSambi, now reduced to a ruined fortress. The facts have been arranged to give the story a con- tinuous form, which, however, has been broken on account of the paucity of materials available on the subject. The materials for these pages have been drawn mainly from primary sources Sanskrit and Pali literature. The references in the ancient texts have been used after careful sifting in the light of epigraphic, archaeological and numismatic evi- dences. -

Srirangam – Heaven on Earth A Guide to Heaven – The past and present of Srirangam Pradeep Chakravarthy 3/1/2010 For the Tag Heritage Lecture Series 1 ARCHIVAL PICTURES IN THE PRESENTATION © COLLEGE OF ARTS, OTHER IMAGES © THE AUTHOR 2 Narada! How can I speak of the greatness of Srirangam? Fourteen divine years are not enough for me to say and for you to listen Yama’s predicament is worse than mine! He has no kingdom to rule over! All mortals go to Srirangam and have their sins expiated And the devas? They too go to Srirangam to be born as mortals! Shiva to Narada in the Sriranga Mahatmaya Introduction Great civilizations have been created and sustained around river systems across the world. India is no exception and in the Tamil country amongst the most famous rivers, Kaveri (among the seven sacred rivers of India) has been the source of wealth for several dynasties that rose and fell along her banks. Affectionately called Ponni, alluding to Pon being gold, the Kaveri river flows in Tamil Nadu for approx. 445 Kilometers out of its 765 Kilometers. Ancient poets have extolled her beauty and compared her to a woman who wears many fine jewels. If these jewels are the prosperous settlements on her banks, the island of Srirangam 500 acres and 13 kilometers long and 7 kilometers at its widest must be her crest jewel. Everything about Srirangam is massive – it is at 156 acres (perimeter of 10,710 feet) the largest Hindu temple complex in worship after Angkor which is now a Buddhist temple. -

Sri Ranganatha Kalyanam & Sri Mahalakshmi Jayanthi
Sri Ranganatha Kalyanam & Sri Mahalakshmi Jayanthi Tuesday, March 22, 2016 Program Details 9:30 AM - Thirumanjanam (Abhishekam) & Alankaram for Sri Lakshmi and Utsava Vigrahas 7:00 PM – Kumkum Archana for Sri Lakshmi 7:30 PM - Kalyana Utsavam for Lord Ranganatha & Ranganayaki Thayaar 8:30 PM - Sri Ramanuja's Gadya Trayam Recital 9:00 PM - Aarathi & Prasad Sponsorship: $51 for Kalyanam and $21 for Kumkum Archana The foremost of the 108 Vaishnavaite Divya Desams (holy places for the followers of Lord Vishnu) is Srirangam, in Tamil Nadu. The reigning God is Sri Ranganatha (the reclining form of Lord Vishnu) with Goddess Ranganayaki (Lakshmi Devi). The Uthra Phalguni nakshtram (star) in the month of Panguni (Phalguna) is the birthday of Goddess Ranganayaki. The wedding of Lord Ranganatha and Ranganayaki Thaayaar (the mother Goddess) is also celebrated on that day. This is the only day in the year when Lord Ranganatha and Ranganayaki Thaayaar are seen together. When Srimad Ramanujacharya, the great Acharya of Srivaishnavas and the proponent of Visishtadwaita, visited the Srirangam temple on that special day, he was greatly moved by the majestic sight of the Divya Dampati (divine couple). He poured his heart out and recited the Sharanagati Gadyam (his surrender to the Lord) and the Sri Ranga Gadyam (in praise of the Lord). As a result of this, the Acharya was blessed with a beautiful vision of Sri Vaikuntam which he has brilliantly described in the Sri Vaikunta Gadyam. The Gadya Trayams – Sharanagati Gadyam, Sri Ranga Gadyam and Vaikunta Gadyam - are recited on every Panguni Uthiram after the Kalyana utsavam (wedding). -

Full Story of Ramayana in English Pdf
Full story of ramayana in english pdf Continue Rama with Lakshmana, killing Ravana Ramayana (pronounced roughly as Raa-Maye-a-na), resembles an Odyssey, while Mahabharata is somewhat reminiscent of the Iliad. Composed around the same time as Mahabharata, Ramayana is written in 24,000 pairs. In fact, it is a story of love and exile. The symbolism of history has been interpreted in several ways, but is widely seen as a story of good overcoming evil, with dharma or duty. (Source: BBC) Valmiki or Sanskrit Ramayana contains about 50,000 lines of verse. It's much longer than both iliad and Odyssey. The narrative is divided into seven books. There are numerous translations of Ramayan available in English. One popular but extremely condensed version based on the Tamil language of Kamban is the R.K. Narayan version (Penguin Books); in India, just as popular version, also in prose, but longer, K. Rajagopalachari (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan). Another easily available abbreviated version in William Buck's poems. The most scientific and complete English translation of Ramayana is a multivolume version of Robert Goldman, Sheldon Pollock and others, published by Princeton websites and Hindu resources: Hinduism today hinduismtoday.com; The Heart of Hinduism (Krishna Movement) iskconeducationalservices.org; India Divine indiadivine.org; Religious tolerance of the Hindu page religioustolerance.org/hinduism; Hindu index uni- giessen.de/~gk1415/hinduism; Wikipedia article Wikipedia ; Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies ochs.org.uk; Hindu-web-hinduwebsite.com/hinduindex; -
