Sri Ranganatha Kalyanam & Sri Mahalakshmi Jayanthi Sri Ranganatha Kalyanam & Sri Mahalakshmi Jayanthi Tuesday, March 22, 2016 Program Details 9:30 AM - Thirumanjanam (Abhishekam) & Alankaram for Sri Lakshmi and Utsava Vigrahas 7:00 PM – Kumkum Archana for Sri Lakshmi 7:30 PM - Kalyana Utsavam for Lord Ranganatha & Ranganayaki Thayaar 8:30 PM - Sri Ramanuja's Gadya Trayam Recital 9:00 PM - Aarathi & Prasad Sponsorship: $51 for Kalyanam and $21 for Kumkum Archana The foremost of the 108 Vaishnavaite Divya Desams (holy places for the followers of Lord Vishnu) is Srirangam, in Tamil Nadu. The reigning God is Sri Ranganatha (the reclining form of Lord Vishnu) with Goddess Ranganayaki (Lakshmi Devi). The Uthra Phalguni nakshtram (star) in the month of Panguni (Phalguna) is the birthday of Goddess Ranganayaki. The wedding of Lord Ranganatha and Ranganayaki Thaayaar (the mother Goddess) is also celebrated on that day. This is the only day in the year when Lord Ranganatha and Ranganayaki Thaayaar are seen together. When Srimad Ramanujacharya, the great Acharya of Srivaishnavas and the proponent of Visishtadwaita, visited the Srirangam temple on that special day, he was greatly moved by the majestic sight of the Divya Dampati (divine couple). He poured his heart out and recited the Sharanagati Gadyam (his surrender to the Lord) and the Sri Ranga Gadyam (in praise of the Lord). As a result of this, the Acharya was blessed with a beautiful vision of Sri Vaikuntam which he has brilliantly described in the Sri Vaikunta Gadyam. The Gadya Trayams – Sharanagati Gadyam, Sri Ranga Gadyam and Vaikunta Gadyam - are recited on every Panguni Uthiram after the Kalyana utsavam (wedding). Any of the following items for Prasadam (without onion or garlic) would be very welcome: Coconut Rice, Tamarind Rice, Sambar Rice, Vegetable Rice, Curd Rice, Sundal, Chakkarai Pongal. Vedu and his OmmAcchi ThAthA ( Volume-1 ) Lakshminarasimhan Sridhar Copyright © 2017 Lakshminarasimhan Sridhar All rights reserved. 1 FOREWORD Dear AastikAs ! I am delighted to know that Sri Lakshminarasimhan Sridhar is releasing a new book entitled, “ Vedu and OmmAcchi ThAthA –Volume I” . This book is the first of the series of books covering the Vaibhavams of the illustrious AchAryAs of Srimad Srirangam Andavan Guru Parampara in an innovative manner to meet the existing information needs of the younger generations of the global Sri VaishNava Kudumpam . It is a bhAgyam for Sriman Sridhar to have received the niyamanam of the Current pontiff of Srimad Andavan Asramam , Srimad SrimushNam Andavan Swami to create this series of informative books on Andavan Asrama guru Parampara to reach out to the younger generations . This book and its sequel releases are set in a unique and delightful conversational style that Sriman Sridhar has developed successfully during the past decade . The earlier releases on Chitra Desikeeyam covering the divya charitram of Swamy Vedantha Desikan the Pilgrimage to many famous temples in Karantaka with links to AchArya RaamAnuja in Melnaadu are examples of such books and web sites . I am happy to learn that Sriman Sridhar’s book on the DasAvatarams of Sriman NaarAyaNa set in his inimitable style is getting ready for release soon. Sriman Sridhar addresses very well an existing gap in information identified by our current AchAryas of our Sri VaishNava darsanam especially as it relates to the information needs of the younger generations regarding our noble sampradhAyam . Such books help the Vedu and OmmAcchi Thatha –Volume I elders of the Family also to use them as information resources/teaching tools to introduce the greatness of our AchArya paramparai founded and nurtured by Sriman Narayana .

How can I speak of the greatness of Srirangam? Fourteen divine years are not enough for me to say and for you to listen Yama’s predicament is worse than mine! He has no kingdom to rule over! All mortals go to Srirangam and have their sins expiated And the devas? They too go to Srirangam to be born as mortals! Shiva to Narada in the Sriranga Mahatmaya Introduction Great civilizations have been created and sustained around river systems across the world. India is no exception and in the Tamil country amongst the most famous rivers, Kaveri (among the seven sacred rivers of India) has been the source of wealth for several dynasties that rose and fell along her banks. Affectionately called Ponni, alluding to Pon being gold, the Kaveri river flows in Tamil Nadu for approx. 445 Kilometers out of its 765 Kilometers. Ancient poets have extolled her beauty and compared her to a woman who wears many fine jewels. If these jewels are the prosperous settlements on her banks, the island of Srirangam 500 acres and 13 kilometers long and 7 kilometers at its widest must be her crest jewel. Everything about Srirangam is massive – it is at 156 acres (perimeter of 10,710 feet) the largest Hindu temple complex in worship after Angkor which is now a Buddhist temple.

  • Ramayan Ki Kathayen, Pandemic and the Hindu Way of Life and the Contribution of Hindu Women, Amongst Others
Hindu Sevika Samiti (UK) Mahila Shibir 2020 East and South Midlands Vibhag FOREWORD INSPIRING AND UNPRECEDENTED INITIATIVE In an era of mass consumerism - not only of material goods - but of information, where society continues to be led by dominant and parochial ideas, the struggle to make our stories heard, has been limited. But the tides are slowly turning and is being led by the collaborative strength of empowered Hindu women from within our community. The Covid-19 pandemic has at once forced us to cancel our core programs - which for decades had brought us together to pursue our mission to develop value-based leaders - but also allowed us the opportunity to collaborate in other, more innovative ways. It gives me immense pride that Hindu Sevika Samiti (UK) have set a new precedent for the trajectory of our work. As a follow up to the successful Mahila Shibirs in seven vibhags attended by over 500 participants, 342 Mahila sevikas came together to write 411 articles on seven different topics which will be presented in the form of seven e-books. I am very delighted to launch this collection which explores topics such as: The uniqueness of Bharat, Ramayan ki Kathayen, Pandemic and the Hindu way of life and The contribution of Hindu women, amongst others. From writing to editing, content checking to proofreading, the entire project was conducted by our Sevikas. This project has revealed hidden talents of many mahilas in writing essays and articles. We hope that these skills are further encouraged and nurtured to become good writers which our community badly lacks.

Jai Srimannarayana! Saints of the World Quiz Contest Bhagavad Ramanuja Jai Srimannarayana! 1 of 158 Jai Srimannarayana! Message from HH Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji! “If my act of revealing the Manthra, redeems the whole world, from the horrendous clutches of karma, and for that Infernal Hell will be the result, I have absolutely no objection to go to that Hell” Who else can show such a convivial concern other than Acharya Ramanuja? Nearly a thousand years ago, a savior, a marvelous philosopher- saint appeared on this Earth, announcing to this world, the advent of a scintillating era in the world of philosophy and spirituality. His vibrant philosophy “tri-une Monism”, Visishtadwaitham, raised curtain for ushering an era of social, as well as, philosophic revolution. Bhagavad Ramanuja was instrumental for the revival, growth, amplification and vivification of “Visishtadwaitha school of thought” which had been in existence from time immemorial. Humanity all over the globe, barring religion, caste, creed, territory etc. should be indebted to this ‘great savior’ whose philosophy penetrated and enlightened millions and millions of Truth Seekers Bhagavad Ramanuja, was the beloved son of the couple Sri Asuri Keswava Yajvi & Kanthimathi. He sanctified this Earth with his appearance, in Sri Perumbudur, near Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu, during 1017 AD. Being a precocious and brilliant child, he gave out beautiful and true explanations to the Vedic texts even as a lad. His studies were profound and his thinking was deep. He turned out to be a great learner under the tutelage of several Acharyas. In the process of learning, he suffered several privations and indignities and he withstood them all with a burning zeal for studies and reverence to his preceptors.
