The Srirangam Temple: 750 meters from Hotel Sri Hayagriva Srirangam Ranganathaswamy temple is one of the oldest religious complex in the world. It is the first of 108 Special Vishnu temples (108 Divyadesams) Srirangam Ranganatha Swamy Temple is the biggest functioning Hindu temple in the world. It covers an area of about 631,000 square metres (6,790,000 sq ft) with a perimeter of 4 km (10,710 ft). The Srirangam temple complex is composed of 7 concentric walled sections and 21 towers gopuram. The main gopuram of the temple is called the Rajagopuram and is 236 feet (72 m) tall, the tallest in Asia. Being the biggest religious complex Srirangam Temple has more than 25 shrines. 2. The RockFort Temple: 4.0 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva. The Tiruchirapalli Rock Fort is a historic fort and temple complex built on an ancient rock. It is constructed on a 273-foot high rock. There are two Hindu temples inside the Rockfort, the Uchchi Pillaiyar Koil and the Siva Temple (Thayumanavar Temple). Geologically the 83 m high rock may date to over one billion years ago. Tiruvanaikkaval Temple: 2.5 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva. The most famous temple in Trichy that is dedicated to Lord Shiva is the Tiruvanaikkaval Temple located in Srirangam Island. One of the rulers of the Early Cholas dynasty, Kocengannan (Kochenga Chola) built this temple more than 1,800 years ago. Also known as the Jambukeswara temple, this temple has an underground water stream that apparently does not get exhausted even after extensive pumping out of water from this stream. 4. Samayapuram-Mariamman Temple: 12 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva The Mariamman temple at Samayapuram near Trichy is dedicated to the Goddess Mariamman (Durga Devi) who is widely believed, by the Hindu community, to possess the mystical powers of curing illnesses. The main deity, Samayapurathal Mariamman is made of sand and clay like many of the traditional Mariamman deities. 5. Vayaloor Temple: 15 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva The Vayaloor temple is a very important Hindu shrine situated near Trichy that considers Lord Muruga (Shanmuga) as the primary deity. The temple is considered to be built 1,200 years ago during the 9th century when Trichy was being ruled by the Cholas. Later on saint Kirupananda Variyar provided his support to renovate the temple. Gunaseelam Temple: 18 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva This famous Vishnu temple is located at about 20 miles from the city of Trichy in Tamil Nadu on the banks of the river Cauvery. Interesting legends regarding the making of the temple have prevailed among the folks for centuries. The most distinct feature of this temple would be the service that the temple provides in order to care for the mentally-challenged group of people. 7. Uthamar Kovil: 4.0 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva Uthamar Kovil (Bhikshandar Kovil) a village in the outskirts of Tiruchirappalli is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, the temple is glorified in the Divya Prabandha the early medieval Tamil canon of the Azhwar saints from the 6th–9th centuries AD. It is one of the 108Divyadesam dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Purshottamar and his consort Lakshmi as Poornavalli. 10. Erumbeeswarar Temple: 13.5 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva Erumbeeswarar Temple in Thiruverumbur, Tamil Nadu, India, is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva. Built on a 60-foot (18 m) tall hill, it is accessible via a flight of steps. The temple's main shrines and its two prakarams (outer courtyards) are on top of the hill, while a hall and the temple tank are located at the foothills. Shiva is believed to have transformed himself into an ant hill and tilted his head at this place to enable ants to climb up and worship him. Vekkali Amman Temple: 6.5 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva Vekkali Amman Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Vekkali, a form of Hindu deity Parvathi. It is located in Woraiyur, a suburb in Tiruchirapalli. The central shrine of the temple houses the image of Vekkali Amman and the major feature of the temple is the absence of roof over the sanctum. The temple is known from the period of early Cholas. 13. Lady of Lourdes Church: 3.0 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva The Our Lady of Lourdes Church is located in the city of Tiruchirapalli in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The Church is devoted to Our Lady of Lourdes. Our Lady of Lourdes is a venerated title of the Blessed Virgin Mary invoked by Roman Catholics in honor of the Marian apparitions. The church is decked out in Gallo-Catholic design, from neo-Gothic spires to anguished scenes of crucifixion and martyrdom painted inside. Icons of Virgin Mary are garlanded in flower necklaces. Brahmapureeswarar Temple: (Yoga - Padanjali Samadhi) 22 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva The Brahmapureeswarar Temple is located in Thirupattur. Worshippers believe that a person can change his fate by seeking the blessings of Lord Brahma at Sri Brahmapureeswarar Temple. The presiding deities are Lord Brahmapureeswarar in the form of Swayambu Lingam and Devi Brahma Sampath Gowri. There is a separate shrine for Lord Brahma. The idol of Lord Brahma is in meditative pose sitting in Padmasana on a lotus. The temple complex also has the Jeeva Samadhi of Yogi Patanjali, the author of Yoga Sutras. 16. Madurakaliamman Temple: 40 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva The Mathura Kaliamman Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Kali located in the village of Siruvachur in the Perambalur talukof Perambalur District, India. Siruvachur is located at a distance of 5 km from Perambalur, its nearest town. The Car festival and the annual Panguni festivals are important festivals celebrated. The prime deity is Mathura Kaliamman. The temple is open to devotees only twice a week – Monday and Friday. It is believed that the main deity, Mathura Kaliamman, stays with Chelliamman during the remaining days of the week. Manthurai Amravaneeshwarar Temple: 17 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva The Manthurai temple is a very ancient temple .It is one of the Paadal petra sthalams. The temple is praised in the Thevaram hymns of Tirugnanasambandar and in Tirupugazh hymns of Arunagirinathar. This is the 58th Lord Shiva shrine on the northern bank of Cauvery praised in Thevaram hymns. To Reach: On the Trichy Lalgudi road after crossing Valadi just before lalgudi about 14 kms from the toll gate look for the left turning to the temple it is about 500 metres away. 18. Koviladi Appakoduthan Temple: 25 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva The temple is one among the Divya Desas of Lord Perumal and also one of the five Pancharanga Sthalas. The Lord of the temple is praised in the Mangalasasanam hymns of Saints Periazhwar, Tirumazhisai Azhwar and Tirumangai Azhwar. Car festival on Panguni Uthiram star day Theerthavari in March-April; Vaikunta Ekadasi in December-January; Navarathri in September-October and the butter pot breaking utsav-Uri Adi- are the festivals celebrated in the temple. The temple is open from 8.30 a.m. and 12.00 a.m. and from 4.30 p.m. and 8.00 p.m. 19. Thinniyam Sri Subramanya Temple: 22 Km from Hotel Sri Hayagriva Thinniyam is a village in the Tiruchirappalli (12 kms from Pullampadi). Main Deity is Sundareswarar and Periya nayaki ammal.Subramanaya swamy Valli and Devayanai are on indivudual peacock which is seen only in this place.
