Friend of Mine I Am Always With You Take my hand and walk with me When I am gone, release me, let me go Across the sands of time. I have so many things to see and do. Hand in hand and heart to heart You mustn’t tie yourself to me with too many tears Together, friend of mine. But be thankful we had so many good years. We will share the solitude I gave you my love, and you can only guess And walk in quiet peace How much you’ve given me in happiness. For my heart hears what your heart says; I thank you for the love that you have shown It listens when yours speaks. But now it is time I traveled on alone. The years have brought us to this place So grieve for me awhile, if grieve you must Across the sands of Time Then let your grief be comforted by trust. And we will walk here til the end That it is only for a while that we must part Together, friend of mine. So treasure the memories within your heart. -Allison Chambers Coxsey I won’t be far away for life goes on And if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can’t see or touch me I will be near And if you listen with your heart you’ll hear High Flight All my love around you soft and clear Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And then, when you come this way along And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; I’ll greet you with a smile and a “Welcome Home.” Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds---and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of-wheeled and soared and swung I Did Not Die High in the sunlit silence: Hov’ring there, Do not stand at my grave and weep, I’ve chased the shouting wind along and flung I am not there, I do not sleep. I’ve topped the windswept heights with easy grace I am the sunlight on ripened grain; Where never lark, or even eagle flew I am the gentle autumn’s rain. And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod When you awaken in the morning’s hush, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, I am the swift uplifting rush Put out my hand and touched the face of God. Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die. Hope is the thing with feathers Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without the words, My Way and never stops at all And now, the end is near; -Emily Dickinson And so I face the final curtain. My friend, I’ll say it clear, I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve traveled each and every highway; And more, much more than this, I did it my way.

Peace My Heart Peaceful Retreat Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet. Down a narrow hidden path Let it not be a death but completeness. Sought out by Wisdom’s eye Let love melt into memory and pain into songs. A peaceful place of refuge calls Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the To come rest awhile beside wings over the nest. Listen to the waters Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the Falling over mountains steep flower of the night. To gently flow for endless days Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say Through eternity’s retreat your last words in silence. And on the far horizon I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on Of the never setting sun your way. Remember Me To the living, I am gone, To Those I Love To the sorrowful, I will never return, When I am gone, release me, let me go. To the angry, I was cheated, I have so many things to see and do. But to the happy, I am at peace, You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears, And to the faithful, I have never left. Be happy that we had so many years. I cannot speak, but I can listen. I gave you my love, you can only guess I cannot be seen, but I can be heard. How much you gave to me in happiness. As you look upon a flower and admire So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must, its simplicity- Then let your grief be comforted by trust. Remember me. It's only for a little while that we must part. Remember me in your heart: So bless the memories within your heart. Your thoughts, and your memories, I won't be far away, for life goes on. Of the times we loved, So if you need me, call and I will come. The times we cried, Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near. The times we fought, And if you listen with your heart, The times we laughed. you'll hear all of my love around you soft and clear. For if you always think of me, And then, when you must come this way alone, I will never have gone. I'll greet you with a smile and "welcome home."

The Garden of Promise We Never Walk Alone There is a place, I have been told, The time comes when those Beyond an open gate whom we have loved All have been invited the longest and the best Where friends and loved ones wait will travel far ahead It holds eternal promise into a place of joy and rest… Of everlasting peace And we must walk a lonely path No pain or sorrow ever comes through shadows for a while And teardrops there have ceased without a certain kindred voice, Abundant life is evident a dear, familiar smile-- Constant, fresh and new Yet each day brings us nearer A garden of provision to horizons yet unknown With eternity in view and even when they way is dark, The promise is awaiting we never walk alone, A place we can abide For memories travel with us Fulfilled for all who answer toward the happy destination The call to come inside where we will join our loved ones in eternal celebration.

When I must leave you When I must leave you for a little while, The Meaning of True Love Please do not grieve and shed wild tears The Meaning of True Love And hug your sorrow to you through the years, It is sharing and caring, But start out bravely with a gallant smile; Giving and forgiving, And for my sake and in my name Loving and being loved, Live on and do all things the same. Walking hand in hand, Feed not your loneliness on empty days, Talking heart to heart, But fill each waking hour in useful ways, Seeing through each other’s eyes, Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer Laughing together, And I in turn will comfort you Weeping together, and hold you near; Praying together, And never, never be afraid to die, And always trusting For I am waiting for you in the sky! And believing -Helen Steiner Rice And thanking God For each other… For love that is shared Is a beautiful thing – You Can Shed A Tear It enriches the soul You can shed a tear that he is gone And makes the heart sing! Or you can smile because he has lived. -Helen Steiner Rice You can close your eyes and pray he’ll come back Or you can open your eyes and see all he’s left. Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him Or you can be full of the love you shared. Cancer You can turn your back on tomorrow and live Cancer is so limited… yesterday It cannot cripple love, Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of It cannot corrode faith, yesterday. It cannot eat away peace, You can remember him and only that he’s gone It cannot destroy confidence, Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on. It cannot kill friendship, You can cry and close your mind, be empty It cannot shut out memories, and turn your back It cannot silence courage, Or you can do what he’d want: It cannot invade the soul, Open your yes, smile, love, and go on. It cannot reduce eternal life, It cannot quench the Spirit, It cannot lessen the power Of the Resurrection.
