Apprenticeship levels

No matter what level of apprenticeship you are on, you will receive both ‘on the job’ and ‘off the job’ training from your employer. Apprenticeship entry requirements

Entry requirements vary depending on your apprenticeship level. It is certainly advantageous to have a minimum of grade 4 in English and Maths, although in most cases this is not essential. If you have not already achieved a grade 4 in English and Maths, you will need to study towards these as part of your apprenticeship. In some courses, you will have to achieve a certain level of English and Maths to be able to complete your apprenticeship. A number of courses also require you to study ICT if you have not previously achieved a grade 4 or above. It is not essential to have had previous work experience, although this is definitely beneficial and could boost your chances of securing an apprenticeship. What happens if you don’t offer the level of course I want to do? There are different ways to progress. You can start on a related course and then progress to the next level the following year. Ask our tutors or admissions team for advice.

What is the difference between applying and enrolling? Applying refers to the process of choosing a course and submitting an application, either by completing an application form on the college website online or filling out a paper application form (see back of this prospectus for a copy). You will then be invited for an interview and if this is successful, you will be invited back to the college on GCSE results day to enrol onto the course.

HELP! I did not get the grades I wanted? What do I do? Don’t worry! If you didn’t get the grades you wanted, there are other options available. It may be that you need to start at a level below or an alternative course. Speak to our friendly tutors who will advise which is the best course for you.

Will you be able to interview me at school? Yes, absolutely. We offer interviews in schools, either during the lunch break or immediately after school.
