CARRIED EXEMPLARY PRACTICE: EXCELLENCE IN TEACHER/EDWIN PARR/POST-SECONDARY ACHIEVEMENTS Recognition of Post-Secondary Achievement Centered on the principle that building capacity increases the collective efficacy of a group to improve student learning, Rocky View Schools believes that educators have a responsibility to be both teachers and learners. In order to equip today’s learners with the critical competencies needed to succeed in tomorrow’s changing global society, educators first must understand the world that they are preparing them for. Through ongoing learning, collaboration, and research, Rocky View Schools’ educators are acquiring the requisite skills that not only are influencing students’ thinking and learning, but are successfully helping bring about transformational change for a 21st C learning organization. The Board of Trustees would like to recognize the accomplishments of these staff members who have demonstrated their commitment to life-long learning. Not only do these individuals exemplify the jurisdiction’s vision that we are all learners, but they also demonstrate leadership in learning. SCHOOL STAFF Alison Turner, Teacher - C.W. Perry School Graduate Diploma in Design Thinking for Innovation - University of Calgary “Alison is truly a life-long learner, and an individual who takes great joy in learning. Possessing a well of seemingly endless energy, she is always looking for ways to extend and better herself in order to make the most of her time, both personally and professionally.” ~Jim Forrest, Principal Bonnie Kelly, Child Development Advisor - Chestermere Lake Middle School Bachelor of Social Work - University of Victoria “Bonnie joined CLMS staff four years ago as Child Development Advisor and in that time has built meaningful relationships within our community to support students and families. Bonnie shows compassion and kindness in her daily work and has been instrumental in supporting some of our most vulnerable students. She balances her job with the demands of being a single parent of four lovely and active boys. Bonnie loves running - or maybe the medals for the running - and hiking. We are very proud of Bonnie and her academic accomplishments.” ~Tammy Rahn, Principal Colleen Bushrod, Teacher - Westbrook School Masters in Leadership - University of Calgary “Colleen has been a teacher with Rocky View since 2002, teaching at Ralph McCall and Nose Creek before landing at Westbrook where she wears many hats: Grade 6 Humanities, Literacy Coach, Early Literacy and Learning Support. Colleen is a perfect model of a lifelong learner and is a master teacher who readily shares her love of learning and teaching. His talents in the arts are obvious but he also is a technology buff, a ballroom dancer, an outdoors man and hunter, and a great athlete. Pursuing a graduate degree is consistent with his life-long learner philosophy. Congratulations, Dan!” ~Brad Walls, Principal Erin Tysowski, Teacher - Springbank Community High Master of Fine Arts - Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Vancouver “Erin Tysowski serves as our art teacher and co-academic lead for the multidisciplinary department (PE, Art, Drama, Languages, Music) at Springbank Community High School. Erin connects well with students and is able to draw out their inherent talents and further develop their artistic skills.
