Kline, Sr., and his wife, Hattie E. Kline, their children, 2nd the larger Kline family. Elder John Kline, a farmer, physician, and free-will minister in Rockingham County, was martyred during the War between the States because of his impartial ministrations to persons on both sides of that conflict.Elder John Kline, who had no children reach maturity, was the great uncle of John M. Kline, Sr., a minister in the Church of the Brethren and the operator of a large dairy farm at Manassas. A largepart of the Kline familygift is the transfer of halfof that farm, now located in a rapidly developing industrial area, to the College, by Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer M. Kline. The other eight members of the family have also indicated their intentions to make signifi cant contributions to the College in the years ahead. They are Mr. and Mrs. JohnM. Kline, Jr., of Mt. Crawford, Va., Mr. and Mrs. ClaronE. Kline, of Mathews, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Alvin T. Kline, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie R. Kline, Mr. and Mrs. Orrin M. Kline, Mr. and Mrs. Everett L. Kline, Mrs. Eleanor Kline Secord, and Mr. and Mrs.Paul E. Kline, all of Manassas. At the time his giftwas announced, Mr. Wilmer M. Kline stated that the College "presents a unique opportunitv to invest in a great cause and in futuref!enerations of young people." These generous g1fts are greatly appreciated by Bridgewater College.
