Principal’s Desk Our Institution believes that the purpose of education is to broaden the vision, and as such is focused not only on academics but also on providing opportunity to each student to explore his or her own capabilities and their area of interest - curricular, co-curricular or extra-curricular. The English and Marathi departments conducted intercollegiate workshop on translational skills, the Botany and Zoology departments conducted syllabus related workshop in collaboration with University of Mumbai and the Chemistry department conducted National Seminar on Advances in Material Science. I am proud that Dr. Aniruddha Patil has successfully completed his Post-Doctoral degree from Xiamin University, China and Dr. Saujanya Jagtap has completed her Ph.D. from Mumbai University. Principal Dr. C.S. Panse We do encourage undergraduate students to take up research activities which help students mature as thinkers and doers. Congratulations to the students who have excelled in Dramatics and Sports. The play “Bhramasta” has received the best play award at the intercollegiate level. The play was also selected for finals in SAWAI competition and won audience choice award. Miss Vidhisha Kamble won the Miss University title and Mr. Ashish Naidu won the Mr. University first runner up in the competition conducted by University of Mumbai. To add a feather on our cap, three of our alumni Mr. Rishank Devadiga, Miss Sonali Shingate and Sonali Gite have received the Shiv Chattrapati Award for excelling in Kabbaddi. We aim to develop soft skills that will equip the students to manage and face the varied opportunities and challenges of the society with an added edge. We have been collaborating with Times of India for English speaking course since last four years. The students are encouraged to develop interpersonal skills through interaction with knowledgeable resource persons. Various modules are chalked out to make them ‘industry ready’. Placement of young energetic budding students is of prime importance to all of us. A systematic development and overall confidence building through bridge courses and monthly programmes is the unique feature of our institution. This has been an unusual year with everyone in the world amid this pandemic. The Covid -19 pandemic has disrupted the normal lifestyle of people and the virtual world has come to our rescue. We have shifted to virtual platforms to conduct online classes. We have also conducted a 10 day workshop to make our teachers be prepared for online teaching. We believe that complete development of a student into a holistic person requires active participation of the parents too. Thus the institution is in constant touch with parents informing them about the performance of their wards through correspondence and dialogues. STAY HOME, STAY SAFE, SAVE LIVES echnology has been considered central to the reform in education and has Tgained unprecedented momentum during this pandemic. It is being perceived Editorial as a panacea to combat all the education related issues. No matter how simple a technology or plan is being used to provide education to all, some learners will remain left out during critical situations due to multiple causes such as poverty, migration, family problems and so on. Hence our college conducted a survey to find out the availability of sufficient technology amongst students to participate in virtual classroom. Accordingly, we are trying to find various means of dealing with the situation keeping the welfare of the students in mind. While the mysterious pandemic is doing its allotted duty, we the people all over the world are doing our own duties. Only, the place, time and style of our work have changed, but not ceased. We at MD too have done our best, and so here is Dayanandite 2019-20.
