Body-coloured door mirror shells and door handles are standard. The impression of strength and robust character created by the front-end design is continued along the flanks. The flowing lines are set off by strongly sculpted shoulders and slightly concave doors which sit flush with the sills – a pointer to the build quality and taut fit and finish of the car. Connected and customisable The Kadjar also uses technology to take the stress out of parking. From Dynamique S Nav, it has front and rear parking sensors. Handsfree parking R-LINK 2, available from Dynamique Nav upwards, is the Kadjar’s control – capable of parallel, perpendicular and even angled steering into parking centre, giving access to all the car’s technologies, including navigation, phone, spaces – is standard on Signature S Nav and available on Signature Nav. apps and radio using the 7-inch colour instrument screen in the centre console. It is intuitive and easy to use, as with a smartphone or tablet, icons can be moved by tapping and dragging, and to read text, drivers can scroll or zoom in and out.
R-Link 2 allows drivers to choose from four dashboard display modes – classic, with a needle rev counter and digital speed readout; sport, with the speed displayed in the centre; economy, with a graph illustrating the consumption range and streamlined, with graduation of speed and no rev counter. There’s also a choice of five display colours.
New customisable home pages provide easy access to favourite functions for up to six different user profiles. At the touch of a button, everyone can restore their own personal navigation and multimedia settings, their activation of driving assistance function or the ambience of ‘their’ dashboard.
Because it’s connected, R-Link 2 gives the driver access to the R-Link Store and its range of apps dedicated to motoring. A free package provides a 12-month subscription to TomTom® Traffic, the R-Link store and up-to-date European maps.
For entertainment, the Expression+ comes with a 4 x 20W DAB radio with fingertip controls and AUX input. Dynamique Nav adds a 4 x 35W Arkamys 3D digital audio system. The Signature Nav and Signature S Nav benefit from a Bose® Energy Efficient sound system. Delivering deep bass and treble frequencies for a realistic sound experience, the Bose® sound system turns the cabin into a concert hall. Seven high-performance speakers and a subwoofer emit a panoramic sound, assisted by a specially configured digital amplifier. With clear tones, tight rhythms and subtle chords, the sound is rich, balanced and precise in the front and the rear.

Renault regards a top Euro NCAP safety rating as a necessity rather than a luxury with every new model it introduces, and the Kadjar achieved a full five-star rating in summer 2015. Renault’s excellent active and passive safety has been applied across the range. It begins with the extremely tough and rigid construction of the bodyshell, and its protective deformable impact zones front, rear and at the sides. Occupants are protected with six airbags, side impact protection bars, seat belts with load limiters and front pretensioners, and ISOFIX child-seat mounting points on the two outer rear seats. The all-disc brakes – 296 x 26mm at the front and 290 x 13mm at the rear – feature anti-lock with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Emergency Brake Assist. They deliver maximum retardation in all weathers on all surfaces regardless of the force applied to the pedal by the driver. A number of unobtrusive driver assistance technologies help stabilise the Kadjar in all conditions. These include standard ESP Electronic Stability Programme with ASR (Anti-skid Regulation) and UCL (Understeer Logic Control), cruise control, speed limiter and Hill Start Assist. The Visio system on Dynamique Nav and above provides lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and automatic headlight beam adjustment. Advanced Emergency Braking is available on Signature Nav as part of the Safety Pack Premium, along with Blind Spot Warning. All models are equipped with LED daytime running lamps and front foglights. The CMF platform is a highly flexible method of building cars with great efficiency, high levels of automation and exceptional quality. The Kadjar has undergone static and dynamic testing to ensure it complies with Renault’s performance standards. It has been run over a distance of more than 400,000 miles to prove its reliability and durability. An international vehicle, it is designed to meet the challenges of harsh cold, satisfy expectations in hot countries and adapt to diverse road conditions. Because it has been tested to the limits in all conditions, it has proved it is robust and ready for adventure.

Three modes can be selected by turning a selecter knob: Two-wheel drive, Auto and Lock. Two-wheel drive powers only the front wheels and optimises your fuel consumption.
