    Natur & Kultur als Partner der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung Vorwort 2 Liebe Leserinnen und Leser, die Region Odermündung hat einige versteckte und noch unerkannte „Schätze“ vorzuweisen. Allen voran eine einzigartige Natur- und attraktive Kulturlandschaft mit einem hohen Freizeit- und Erholungswert. Aber auch eine bewegte Geschichte, landwirtschaftliche und handwerkliche Traditionen sowie eine Vielfalt an Bräuchen, deren Spuren überall zu sehen sind, wenn man nur genau hinschaut. Akteure aus den beiden auf der deutschen Seite der Odermündung liegenden Landkreisen Ostvorpommern und Uecker-Randow waren davon überzeugt, dass es sinnvoll ist, diese Stärken als Entwicklungsmotor für die Region zu nutzen. Sie haben deshalb erstmals gemeinsam und kreisübergreifend eine Strategie zur Entwicklung des ländlichen Raums erarbeitet und unter dem Thema „Natur und Kultur als Partner der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung in der Region Odermündung“ im Rahmen der EU-Gemeinschaftsinitiative LEADER+ umgesetzt. Wichtigstes Ziel dabei war, den „Schatz“ unserer Region - die einzigartige Naturlandschaft - zu erhalten und zu verbessern, sie aber gleichzeitig in Wert zu setzen und so die Attraktivität unserer Kulturlandschaft weiter zu erhöhen, für die Einwohner ein liebens- und lebenswertes Umfeld und für die Touristen lohnenswerte Ausflugsziele zu schaffen. Dazu haben 34 durchgeführte Projekte, über die Sie etwas in dieser Broschüre erfahren können, ihren Beitrag geleistet. Unser Dank gilt an dieser Stelle allen, die uns bei der Umsetzung der LEADER+ Initiative geholfen haben. Insbesondere bedanken wir uns beim Ministerium für Landwirtschaft, Umwelt und Verbraucherschutz des Landes Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und den Landkreisen Ostvorpommern und Uecker-Randow für die finanzielle und beratende Unterstützung. Though the possibilities for settling in Germany were rather limited until 2011, more and more Polish citizens became interested in living on the German side of the Oder- Neisse border already shortly after 2004 (upon Polish accession to the EU). Particularly attractive were areas relatively close to Szczecin. The analysis of interviews with inhabitants there – Germans citizens, Polish newcomers and local politicians – enables the article to discuss the current situation in the district Uckermark in Brandenburg. The author focuses her attention on three administrative units: the town of Gartz and the villages Tantow and Mescherin. She presents elements in the social infrastructure redirected to the needs of newly arrived Polish families (for example kindergartens and schools), and subsequent efforts to ease their integration into German society. “I have one foot in Poland, and the other one in Germany, but I have to admit I’m quite satisfied that way.” – a phrase which expresses the pragmatic feelings of the many Poles who participated in the research conducted by the author in the years 2011–2013. The author’s presentation on this new form of coexistence and integration between Poles and Germans will be completed by an account of the opinions of native German residents about the current situation.

    Ausschreibung Dorfresidenzen Uecker-Randow 2021 Kulturlandbüro Uecker-Randow. Kunstdünger aus Bröllin. Das Kulturlandbüro Uecker-Randow auf Schloss Bröllin ist Beratungs-, Service- und Netzwerkstelle für Kultur in Uecker-Randow. Mit seinem partizipativen Ansatz und Kulturförderformaten geht es aber über das Beratungsangebot hinaus: Kunst vor Ort soll gestärkt werden und als Antriebskraft für Vernetzung und Regionalentwicklung wirken. Mit den Dorfresidenzen werden Künstler*innen aller Gattungen dazu eingeladen, in den Dörfern und Städten Uecker-Randows zu leben und mit ihrer Arbeit in einen offenen Austausch mit den Bewohner*innen zu treten. Während des Arbeitsaufenthalts sollen zu den individuellen Themen und Anlässen der Orte künstlerische Werke und/oder Aufführungen geschaffen werden. Leitidee der Dorfresidenz ist, mit dem künstlerischen Blick von außen die Auseinandersetzung mit der Innenperspektive der Bewohner*innen und dem regionalen Selbstverständnis anzuregen, um neue Impulse in das Dorfleben hineinzugeben. Fishery in Poland and Germany is regulated by laws containing regulations of closed season, minimum catching size, spawning and fish protection areas as well as regulations for the use of fishing gear. Both countries collect regularly data of their landed fish but an exchange of data besides the scientific level does not exist. The three mostly caught species are roach, bream and perch. Other important target species are pikeperch and Baltic whitefish. Neither Poland nor Germany undertakes the atteempt of aquaculture in the lagoon. Environmental conditions are the main reason. However, in Germany Baltic whitefish is restocked, as are various fish species in Poland. In addition, scientific research of the cultivation of zebra mussels for water quality improvement takes place on the German side. Communication and cooperation between the two countries is low. A cross-border workshop organized within AQUAFIMA has shown that on both sides the demand for the implementation of a common cross-border and sustainable fishery and aquaculture management does exist. 1 Introduction 1.1 Szczecin Lagooon The Szczecin Lagoon (Stettiner or Oder Haff in German, Zalew Szczeciński in Polish) is about 687 km² and consists of two shallow and tidal-free basins: in the west the German Kleines Haff (“Small Lagoon”) with 277 km² and in the east the Polish Wielki Zalew (“Large Lagoon”) with 419 km² (60 % of the total area).

Notes for David Benjamin Bogenschneider Sr.: He changed the name of his family to Bogenschneider 1772 or later. He and his sons were born as Babenschneider and died as Bogenschneider. Information compiled by grandfather and great uncle of Heiko Bogenschneider before WWII and supplied by Heiko on Sept. 5, 1998. David Benjamin Babenschneider, in spite of his rural background and the time he lived, was an educated man. In 1751 he assumed the office of teacher and sexton in Krackow. At that time, probably coinciding with the start of his new occupation, he married Christina Elisabeth Grücher, who died within one year, in July 1752, while giving birth to twins. To care for the infants, David Benjamin eentered in the same year into a second marriage. He selected 19-year-old Maria Elisabeth Panko'en, who became our ancestral mother. As a neighbor in Krackow and as a friend, she already had held the abandoned twins at their baptism.
