The end result has been the creation of an international marketplace for goods and servv S vices that seems indifferent to national borders and state regulation. From an economic perspective, progressive Globalization has created new envv vironment for Trade Promotion Organs (TPOs) and challenged their initial misv sion since nowadays, we talk more and more about internationalisation and mentoring and coaching of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) rather than simple exporting. But Globalization also brings new challenges notably, the fierce competition in global and domestic markv kets in OIC Countries which make the survival of domestic industries and local agricultural a difficult task. Internationalisation of firms especially SMEs has become increasingly important for the competitiveness of enterprises of all sizes in order to take advantage of crossvborder activities, which provide opportunities not only for revenue growth but also the exchange of knowledge and the enhancement of capabilities, which strengthen the longkterm competitiveness of the firms. Although internationalization may be necessary for firms to grow and survive in the long run, it does not guarantee the firms survival. The risks and costs involved in the process are substantial. Smaller firms find it hard to overcome these challenges, and often suffer from their limited size and resources. SMEs, in addition of encountering more difficulties in financing their international activities, often have limited international experience in their management team. In this context ICDT, the OIC branch in charge of promoting trade and investments among the OIC Countries, has along the years enlarged its scope of assistance to OIC SMEs to new areas like the export auditing, assessment of export strategies and the issue of Non Tariffs Barriers (NTBs) that face exporters. Cooperation between ICDT and OIC TPOs which started since ICDT’s inception in the early eighties encompasses trade fairs and exhibitions, capacity building and trade information. Indeed, aware of the significant role of these TPOs in encouraging SMEs internationalisation, our Centre initiated the launching of the OIC TPOs Global Network during the Forum of OIC TPOs it organized in collaboration with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, State of the United Arab Emirates, and the International Isv lamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) in Sharjah on 17th v18th March 2014, under the theme: “Towards more synergies with the Private sector”. With the creation of the above mentioned Global Network, the OIC TPOs will use new tools and innovative solutions in order to cope with the Globalization and alleviate negative impacts, notably on local SMEs. By implementing the “Framework for cooperation among the Network of the Trade Promotion Organs of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation” adopted in Sharjah during the above mentioned Forum, OIC TPOs will benefit from the best practices and experience sharing; the reinforcevk ment of their capacities through the organization of dedicated training seminars; the improvement of their participation in activities relating to Trade and Investments Promotion such as the Islamic Fair of the OIC Member States and specialized exhibitions; the information about the economic and trade policies of the Member States and market access and the existing trade opportunities; the organization of B2B, trade missions, meetings and the sharing of sector based and market studies. On the other hand, OIC TPOs would also be able to promote the services provided by the OIC institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the fields of trade and investment; to provide Consultancy services to economic operators in order to facilitate trade and improve the market access ; to contribute to the monitoring of nonvtariff barriers to trade and receive the complaints of economic operators and to act as a bridge between policy makers and businesses to design better policies for SMEs and to promote the benefits of trade agreements and investment among Member States.
