Ahadith

None among you is a true believer unless he likes for his brother (in faith) what he likes for himself (Bukhari, Kitab ul Eeman).

Al-Bara bin Azib said: "The Messenger of Allah used to go between the rows from one side to another, patting our shoulders and chests and saying: 'Do not make your rows ragged or your hearts will be filled with enmity toward one another” (Sunan an-Nasa'i).

Abdullah reported Allah's Messengersaw as saying: “If you are three, two amongst you should not converse secretly between yourselves to the exclusion of the other (third one), until some other people join him (and dispel his loneliness), for it may hurt his feelings” (Sahih Muslim).

The height of excellence is that you should strengthen the ties of relationship with the one who severs them and be generous to the one who is miserly to you and be forgiving to the one who abuses you (Masnad Ahmad).

Abu Hurairah relates that the Holy Prophet saw said: “On the Day of Judgment, Allah the Exalted will call: Where are those who loved each other for My Glory? Today I shall give them shelter in the shade of My Mercy. Today there is no shade besides My shade” (Muslim).

Writings of the Promised Messiahas

Be kind and merciful to humanity, for all are His creatures; do not oppress them with your tongue, or hands, or in any other way. Always work for the good of mankind. Never unduly assert yourselves with pride over others, even those who are placed under you. Never use abusive language for anyone, even though he abuses you. Be humble in spirit, kind and gentle, forgiving and sympathetic towards all wishing them well, so that you should be accepted…. You cannot be accepted in the presence of the Lord unless you are pure, both on the outside and inside.

Immediately compose all your differences and make peace among yourselves: forgive the transgression of your brothers for indeed he is evil who is not willing to make peace with his brother…. Leave off all vanity and emphasis on self and all mutual resentments, all unpleasantness. Though truthful and justified in your stance, be humble in your demeanor as though you were in the wrong, so that you yourself should be treated with forgiveness (Our Teaching).

Message from Sadr Lajna, Saliha Malik Sahiba

In this issue of Lajna Matters, we are reminded about the wonderful Jalsas of the past few months and the extraordinary spiritual uplift they bring. Our Beloved Huzooratba has explained that these are training opportunities for our self- reformation, our individual and communal progress. Allah guided the Promised Messiahas to hold Jalsa Salana with the elevated purpose as follows:

….to be attracted towards God, to advance in knowledge and understanding, to bring about positive changes making them part of one's life, to save oneself from the desires and futilities of the world, to make a pledge and a promise to spread the message of Islam in the world, and to fulfill it with all of one's abilities and capabilities, and to enhance the relationship of love, affection and brotherhood (Friday Sermon, Jalsa Salana Germany 9/2/16).

One of our goals in this quarter is to make our homes, families and communities shine with True Sisterhood. Therefore, please join me in reviewing and reflecting on the wonderful and inspiring Khutba selected for this issue: Review of Jalsa Salana Germany (9/9/16) and let us all strive to make our daily lives, our homes and our meetings filled with ‘service, love and cheerfulness’. We must overcome ill feelings of rancor and resentment for others because we wish to please Allah, make our hearts ready for Him and be counted as one of the companions of the Promised Messiahas, Insha’Allah. The Holy Prophetsaw admonished us:

Entertain no ill will or envy nor indifference nor cut off interaction; be servants of Allah, brethren to each other. It is not permissible for a Muslim to keep away from his brother for more than three days (Bukhari and Muslim).

May Allah enable us all to do so, as this is the true face and essence of Islam, which we are entrusted to bring to mankind, Ameen.

Selection of Huzoor’s atba Sermons

Review of Jalsa Salana Germany 2016 - September 9, 2016

Today Khalifatul Masih Vatba delivered the Friday Sermon from Ba'itus Subooh, Frankfurt, Germany.

After Tashahhud and Surah Fatihah, Huzooratba said that by the Grace of Allah the Jalsa Salana of Jama'at Ahmadiyya Germany completed its three days of programs, which ended last Sunday. He said efforts are made throughout the year to prepare for the Jalsa Salana. Hundreds of workers start their work a few days earlier but once Jalsa begins it seems to end suddenly. Three days pass in a blink of an eye. People living abroad may think that here Jalsa is conducted in a huge constructed hall. They get everything readymade so what work do the volunteers have? Despite their huge halls, efforts have to be made, which may need really hard work also. Despite the huge halls, arrangements for sleeping, cooking, and serving food all have to be made. And then there are many other temporary arrangements that need to be arranged. All this work is done outside the main building and marquees are also erected. Then inside the halls seating arrangements, sound systems and many more things need to be arranged, which are done by volunteers mostly from Khuddam, and some from Ansar and Lajna. Then during the Jalsa days there are arrangements for cooking, serving food, cleaning, parking, security, checking in, and MTA, who also arrange and telecast many programs along with the Jalsa proceedings.

The volunteers take care of all these things; among them are men, women, youth, girls, and children. Huzooratba said that all these volunteers deserve the special prayers of the Jalsa participants and generally from all the Ahmadis living anywhere in the world that Allah the Exalted through His volunteers made it possible to participate, listen, and watch the proceedings of the Jalsa. Thus all these volunteers deserve gratitude from all of us. May Allah abundantly reward them all. Huzooratba also thanked all those who made this event successful in every sense and got the chance to serve the guests of Promised Messiahas with all their capacities. May Allah, the Exalted, give them the ability to serve in an even better way in the future.

On one hand, this Jalsa becomes the source for our training, especially the training of the Jalsa participants and generally of those who watch it on MTA. On the other hand, it becomes the source of spreading the message to those non-Ahmadis and non-Muslims who attend the Jalsa and others who are in contact with Jama'at or watch MTA. Many Ahmadis express that their relationship with non-Ahmadis and non-Muslims becomes stronger due to the Jalsa and many of them have come closer to the Jama'at and they show interest in knowing more about it.

The Jalsa environment so impressed some non-Ahmadis and non-Muslim Jalsa participants that they took the Bai'at and entered into Ahmadiyyat, the true Islam. Thus there are innumerable blessings of Jalsa, which are evident and expressed in every Jalsa of all countries. Jalsa Germany also created many such impressions on visitors and I will

Lajna Matters November 2016 narrate some of them here. For the last few years the International Bai’at ceremony has been included in the Jalsa Salana Germany. This year people from 14 countries, 83 men and women took Bai'at and entered into Ahmadiyyat, the true Islam. For some of them, their hearts inclined towards Ahmadiyyat due to the Jalsa proceedings, the environment and the good conduct and behavior of the Ahmadis.

Ibrabim Musaib a Bosnian said, "Ahmadiyyat is the real truth, which is on the precepts of the Holy Qur’an. The Friday sermons of Huzooratba and the speeches impressed me so much and I received answers to all my questions. My heart was fully satisfied and I took Bai'at and entered into Ahmadiyyat. I wanted to be Khalifatul Masih's servant and wished to be near to him. I am impressed by the organization, love, and peace." Another friend of Jama'at Mr. Riaz, who is from Iraq and lives here said, "I was introduced to the Jama'at by an Ahmadi. I attended two Arabic meetings in Jamia Ahmadiyya with my family. The Local Missionary introduced me to the Jama'at's beliefs, which were new to me and were based on truth and touched my heart. Then I attended Jalsa Salana where I was astonished to see the best organization, spirit of service, human values, brotherhood and fraternity among people from different nations. I think this can't be seen anywhere else other than here in Ahmadiyyat. Here I saw love everywhere. The sermons of the Khalifa reflected heartfelt emotions. I declare on oath that the true picture of Islam is here and nowhere else with any other sect of Islam. After seeing all that, my family and I had no hesitation in accepting Ahmadiyyat. And when we came back to our relatives and told them that we have accepted Ahmadiyyat, they said, why didn’t you take us with you? We also want to experience these beauties and join this Jama'at." Then there is another friend of the Jama'at Mr. Salman, who said, "I was introduced to Ahmadiyyat by an Ahmadi and I was very impressed by his morality, so I wanted to know more about the Jama'at and attended the Jalsa. The Jalsa environment impressed me very much. I have never seen such a coordinated gathering in my life. I have not seen such morality of the people in their dealings and conduct, and such an atmosphere of love and respect anywhere else. All these beauties are only seen in Ahmadiyyat and due to that I announce my acceptance of Ahmadiyyat today." Thus he took Bai'at and entered into Ahmadiyyat.

Ahmadis should be exemplary in good moral conduct because this is the reason for propagation. There was another Bosnian Mr. Byran, who said, "This is the first time I attended the Jalsa Salana and experienced Ahmadiyyat and got introduced to the Jama'at. This is the true Jama'at, which is on the precept of the straight path. When I listened directly to the Khalifa I decided to take Bai'at." This is how he took Bai'at and entered the Jama'at. Mr. Byran further said, "now I consider myself lucky that the Khalifa made me near to him with his words. Now I am part of the Jama'at and I promise that I will spread this message further." There was a guest from Belgium Mr. Ghrio he said, "I have never seen a gathering of such grandeur, a spiritual gathering. It seemed like we had known each other for a long time. First I took Bai'at through a letter but today my heart is racing, due to eagerness and fear. I will say this to all Muslims that this is a true Islam; enter into Ahmadiyyat, the true Islam. It is unbelievable for me that I stand before the Khalifa to take Bai'at. I remember from the age 14 I used to hear a Hadith from Malwis that Mehdi Almuntazar will descend. Today my desire is fulfilled and I saw all this with my own eyes." Jalsa becomes a silent source of propagation or the environment becomes the

Lajna Matters November 2016

source of propagation. Speeches become the source of propagation and affect the hearts of the people. Thus all our actions, and not only the speeches, should be such that they touch others’ hearts. All Ahmadis should make their actions such that it should affect others. And not just for show, but in reality, all our actions should be a resonance of our heart and beliefs.

The European people who attend our Jalsa are impressed by it. Some of them may not accept Ahmadiyyat but they are impressed by it. Rather some of them become ambassadors of the Jama'at and spread the message also. This year, delegations came from many different countries such as Lithuania, Macedonia, Latvia, Malta, Bosnia, Albania, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Romania, Belgium, Croatia, and Hungary. The delegations met with Huzoor also. A woman named Ms. Maria who came from Lithuania who was a project manager in a legal accountancy firm said, "Attending this Jalsa is the best experience of my life. For my work I often meet with Muslims from Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, and Dubai. My friends always tell me that Islam is a religion of terrorism. But after attending this Jalsa I am forced to believe that Muslims are very good people and help each other. During Jalsa days I have felt as if I am living in my own home. So when I go back I will change the opinion of my friends." Then there was a guest from Lithuania, who was a foreign minister of one of the regions in Lithuania. He said, "It is a great gathering and has changed my thoughts about Islam forever. Before this I did not have much information about Jama'at Ahmadiyya. People of this Jama'at are very hospitable and loving. In the exhibition I liked the idea of writing the Holy Qur’an by different people. It gave me a very good feeling to see people from different countries gathered in one place." A guest from Belgium who was originally from Morocco said, "My father Abdulqadir accepted Ahmadiyyat during Jalsa Salana UK and he brought me here to attend Jalsa Germany. This is the first time I have attended any Jalsa and as a youth I say to all the youth that they must attend Jalsa Salana! It has increased me in spirituality and I feel very good. We youth when we walk on the road hardly anyone says Salam to us but in the Jalsa everyone was conveying Salam to each other and it was very impressive. I am thankful to Allah the Exalted that he gave me the chance to attend such a spiritual gathering. When I first arrived I was thinking what will I do here for three days? But when I took part in the Jalsa proceedings and saw such brotherhood, such loving and caring I lost count of the time, and on the third day I took Bai'at."

Mr. Tony from Macedonia who is a Christian and a friend of the Jama'at said, "I am a journalist and have attended Jalsa Salana UK and Germany. Last year for the first time I attended Jalsa Salana UK and I was very impressed by such a large gathering of people and yet all the arrangements were running smoothly. Everybody was disciplined; they were respectful to each other. First I thought that it is by chance, I was confused or maybe I was dreaming. This Jalsa is a great gathering of people. Then in August I attended Jalsa Salana Germany and I believe the arrangements of the Jalsa were perfect. He further said I am 52 years old and I have never seen such an organized gathering. I did not see any weakness neither in UK nor in Germany." Huzooratba said that journalists see things very minutely but it is the beauty of Ahmadiyyat that he saw the same thing everywhere. Then there was another non-Ahmadi Muslim journalist guest who said, "I am very impressed by the arrangements of Jalsa. When I accepted the invitation for the

Lajna Matters November 2016

Jalsa Salana I did not realize that it would be such a successful gathering. Many things left a very positive impact on me. It is the first time in my life that I have seen so many people gathered at one place and they are all civilized; nobody had any hatred or anger on his face or considered others inferior. All people behaved very nicely with me. The speeches from the Khalifa were very powerful and touched people's hearts. I was surprised to see high standards of cleanliness. Despite such a huge gathering, the toilets were clean all the time. A Christian friend accompanied me, who was impressed from the very moment he came here. As I am writing my comments my Christian friend is reading books about Islam. This is how he is learning about the Jama'at. He is also listening to the poem which was sung at Jalsa." Huzooratba said that as I mentioned earlier the Jalsa is a source of silent propagation.

A friend from Bosnia named Dr. Adil said, "All the programs and arrangements of the Jalsa were unique. As a doctor for the last 25 years I have attended many programs but I have never seen such arrangements and discipline anywhere else. The basis of Islam is obedience and discipline and this is what I have seen here in this Jalsa." A guest named Mr. Daniel said, "This Jalsa was a source of life for thousands of spiritually dead. And among those spiritually dead people I am one who by attending this Jalsa came to spiritual life once again. Though I was in this Jama'at for many years, I have never felt the spiritual warmth in my heart that I felt this time and now I am spiritual renewed." There was a non-Ahmadi guest who said, "I have listened to Jalsa but never got chance to attend. This year after attending Jalsa I have a strange feeling, which is difficult to explain. I feel that I have changed from inside."

Some people come to test Ahmadis. One such person Mr. Ammar, who was Syrian, lives here in Germany and said, "I am a staunch opponent of Jama'at and came here to attend Jalsa to find weaknesses so as to defame the Jama'at. For that I left my cell phone intentionally on a table for three days but nobody stole it. I minutely checked everything and people but did not find any weakness and now I am forced to change my opinion about this Jama'at." Huzooratba said that it is not valid to test people in this way as sometimes people are tempted. But now we know that some people come with bad intentions so all the Ahmadis should be very careful.

A guest from Syria, Mr. Ali said, "I was introduced to the Jama'at by an Arab Ahmadi and have attended a Jama'at meeting also where a very detailed discussion took place and I got some level of satisfaction there. I attended the Jalsa Germany with family and was astonished to see the organization of the Jama'at and the spiritual environment of the Jalsa. It was a great opportunity to spend time with you (Huzoor). I am so thankful for the hospitality and brotherhood, how the guests were welcomed, and how the volunteers sacrificed their nights for the service of the guests. Most certainly Jama'at Ahmadiyya is a Muslim Jama'at and exhibits the most beautiful teachings of Islam and shows its beauties to others. It is our duty that through research and pondering we expound its beauty to others." A new convert from Romania said, "I am so impressed by the organization of the Jalsa; all the arrangements were exact and everything seemed to be measured. I cannot say that any of the arrangements had a weakness or a defect. It requires hard work, experience and years of planning to arrange perfectly for such a huge gathering. He said

Lajna Matters November 2016

that little children after serving water with a smile on their faces, danced with joy as if they had found their lost precious thing. Every worker was lost in joy for serving the guests. I am a new convert and attending the Jalsa for the first time. The first lesson that I have learned from the airport to the end of the Jalsa is that service, love, and cheerfulness should be adopted." Then he joined the Bai'at also and further said, "It was a very joyous moment which is difficult to explain in words; my heart had a special feeling. During the Bai’at I felt a magnetic field around us, which raised all my body hairs and I felt as if we are encircled by an absorbing attraction. It was no less than a dream for me."

Another guest from Kosovo said, "I have heard from many people about Jalsa but thanks to God that I am here and now I am an eye witness of these things. I have observed the organization and discipline, the virtue of morality, and the strong system of the Jama'at." He asked Huzoor, "What is the secret of the strength in the Jama'at?" Huzooratba said, “this Jama'at is not created by any person. Rather it is created according the prophecy of the Prophet Muhammadsaw and according to the promise of Allah the Exalted in which it was said that there come a time when Promised Messiahas will appear and he will create a Jama'at. Thus this Jama'at is created by Allah; that is why you see all these things. This Jama'at, which is created by Allah the Exalted through Promised Messiahas, has woven the members of the Jama'at and the Khalifa in a cord, and has created such a system, which is developing and spreading under the Blessings of Allah the Exalted. Had humans created it, it would have been destroyed a long time ago as for the last 125 years many attempts were made to destroy it.

A large delegation comprised of 76 people came from Bulgaria. Only 25 were Ahmadis and the rest of the people were non-Ahmadis. Among them there were doctors, businessmen, retired high military officials, teachers and other educated people also. One of the lady guests, Ms. Megda said that in European countries many people are migrating from other countries and local people hate them and an uneasy situation is being created. She said that Huzoor's guidance provides contentment of the hearts and is a solution to all the troubles in this regard. She said similarly, she was very impressed by the guidance Huzoor provided about the rights and responsibilities of women and men. Huzooratba said that it demands more from us when others are impressed, in that we should understand our responsibilities more than before and our actions should sustain us. One of the guests said, "This is the first time I have attended Jalsa and I have learned something from each speech. Huzoor's speech on the women's side especially impressed me as Huzoor painted a beautiful picture of Islam, which is much needed today."

There was a delegation from Malta also with a Nigerian doctor among them, who said,

To understand Islam many years ago I did a six-month course, which made me feel that Islam is the only place for me to go, but the actions of some Muslims blemish the beautiful image of Islam, which worried me. But Jama'at Ahmadiyya is the only Muslim organization, which not only talks about Islam but acts upon its beautiful teachings. If all other Muslims would accept the definition of Jihad of Jama'at Ahmadiyya then the world would become the cradle of peace, and love and brotherhood would prevail. Jama'at Ahmadiyya believes that God is Rabbil

Lajna Matters November 2016

Alameen and does not restrict God only to Muslims and this is what brought me nearer to Jama'at Ahmadiyya. Those people who say that God used to speak and does not speak now are wrong and Ahmadiyyat is in the right, which proclaims that Allah the Exalted talks to His servants today also. I attended the Jalsa Salana to find answers to my questions about Islam and after attending the Jalsa and listening to Huzoor's speeches, especially the second day's speech to non- Muslims, I can say that I got the answers to my questions. The Ahmadiyya Jama’at’s definition of Jihad must be printed in a book and non-Muslims must read it. Similarly, non-Muslims should be informed about the reality of Jihad. Now I will spread the message to the people of Malta and will inform them that the real Islam is with Jama'at Ahmadiyya and Islam is the message of Peace. Now we will collaborate with Ahmadis and spread the message of Ahmadiyyat.

Three Christian women from Malta also attended the Jalsa. At the end of the second day they told our Missionary in-charge that today you put us with women on the women’s side, where we enjoyed the Jalsa much more freely and more confidently and it is our desire to spend the rest of the Jalsa time on the women's side. Huzooratba said thus it is a lesson for those Ahmadi girls who under the influence of European culture say that there should be no segregation between men and women and they all should sit at the same place and they have polluted the thinking of many young men.

A lawyer from Latvia commented, "It is the first time I had the chance to attend Jalsa. Before this I did not have much information about the Jama'at. But during these days I have learned a lot about Islam. I have never in my life seen more loving, caring, and helping people than you. Attending the Jalsa is an honor for me. I will rethink about myself when I will go back. A woman guest commented, "In the Jalsa Salana Germany the speech about the women's rights and the benevolence of the Prophet Muhammadsaw made a great impression on me and now I can say that women have a great status in Islam. After listening to the second day's speech I was very happy and was astonished at how beautifully Islam has created a balance for women and between men and women and has explained their rights. From this speech my knowledge about Islam has increased many fold. A non-Ahmadi guest form Belgium who is originally from Senegal commented,

I have attended many meetings and programs of non-Ahmadis but the system, which I witnessed here, I have not seen anywhere else." He mentioned an incident, which took place in Jalsa Gah and said, "A person fell from their chair and all the workers in the Jalsa Gah rushed towards him to help him as if he was the most important person. Seeing this I thought that here everyone gets full attention and respect and everyone is treated equal - for me it was a testimony that this is the revival of Islam. At present it is the Jama'at Ahmadiyya, which is acting upon the teachings of true Islam." He further commented, "I want to testify another thing also that in Europe mostly Police guard all events or Police and local guards are evidently visible everywhere during such events. However, although there were forty thousand people gathered here during these three days, but there was no hue and cry or any bad incident nor was there any presence of

Lajna Matters November 2016

the Police. I even do not know the color of the dress of the local Police. It is evident from this that Ahmadiyyat understands the true teachings of Islam and is acting on it and that is why the environment of the Jalsa is peaceful.

A lady guest from Lithuania commented, "In my country, Lithuania, there is a saying that always learn, learn, and once more learn. In these three days I have learned a lot about Islam and I have got the sense that Islam puts special focus on human rights. On my return I will spread the message of Islam to others. Moreover, I am thankful to you that due to Jalsa I feel a big change in myself. My best wishes are with you and I hope that I will come again to attend Jalsa.

There was a guest, who was an accountant, he commented, "Jalsa Salana has generated a love in my heart for the Muslims that they want peace and not war. ISIS does not paint the correct picture of Islam. Whatever they are doing it is for their personal interests. Huzooratba commented that this is about the virtue of morality and Ahmadis must have high moral standards and not only for outsiders and new converts, rather between us also we must have benevolent relations and must remove all grievances, as I said at Jalsa also. Mr. Nadeem commented, "Two months ago I came to Germany to look for a job. One day I wanted to come to Bai'tus Subooh for prayer. I came by taxi and incidentally the taxi driver was an Ahmadi and the way he embraced me it was unmatched. From this I believed it was a glimpse of the love, which Promised Messiahas wanted to see between his followers."

I have mentioned before also that by the Grace of Allah the Exalted there are many more good comments from attendees. It is the sheer Grace of Allah that He covers our faults. But some people have drawn our attention towards weaknesses and have pin pointed them also. Some attendees said that the translation should be improved as it was noisy and sometimes other languages were mixing in. Huzooratba said that he himself had experienced this when he was listening the speeches of the German guests during the Urdu translation other languages were mixing with it and intermittently disturbance was coming back. Huzooratba said administration should pay special attention towards this and instead of saving money must have a better arrangement and buy better devices.

A lady from Macedonia in her comments said, "It is not worth mentioning but still I mention that we were served with food, which we don't have the habit of eating so some of us got ill. The food contained such spices, which we don't eat so it was very difficult for us to eat that food." Huzooratba said that it should not be difficult for the administration to arrange separate food for the foreigners as at this time a small number of people come. We make pasta and think that everybody will eat pasta while not everybody likes pasta. People of some areas like broth and it should not be difficult to know the eating habits of people from the Missionaries of their areas – attention should be paid towards this. Huzooratba said that then I came to know that the women's guest’s marquee got crowded due to Ahmadi girls and women eating there. The administration should pay attention towards this and our women and girls should eat in their own marquee. This will make it easy to serve food to the guests. Huzooratba said that a woman asked me directly as a question but her intention was evident that she wanted to make a

Lajna Matters November 2016

complaint. She wanted to tell me that even during the prayer time the appearance of some women was not appropriate. Some did not have head covering, some didn't cover their head properly and some women were showing their hair. Huzooratba said that she had a right to complain. Huzooratba said that hair should be covered from front to the back.

Some mothers had written to me, may be as a complaint or may be as a prayer that next year the arrangements may get better. Huzooratba said that there should be a separate area for the mothers with small children and the children who make noise and a separate area for the mothers with older children. Because of the noise the speeches cannot be heard so they should not be sitting in the same area. My intention was also drawn towards this that during the distribution of certificates to women the MTA camera showed close ups of the girls. He said that I have clearly instructed on this issue to show only from a distance and faces should not be shown. He further said that actually every girl should have a proper covering but even if it is not then MTA should be careful. If new workers are not experienced then they should be properly briefed and trained and MTA should take care of it. Huzooratba said that regarding the observance of Purdah he will brief the Lajna Presidents as it is redundant to mention it here. During the Jalsa days where we get the blessings of the Jalsa and improve in education and training and become the source of propagation, there we should keep an eye on our weaknesses. It is not necessary for me mention weaknesses every time or pinpoint issues. But it is a reality that there are always some issues and weaknesses – there is no system which is perfect. Where we are thankful to Allah the Exalted that He had covered our weaknesses, but the administration should evaluate itself. The administration should critically analyze and find its weaknesses and errors. Many a times I have said to make a Red Book and note down all the errors and weaknesses and then try to eradicate them. This is how we can improve our system. It is the duty of the Officer Jalsa Salana to have a meeting with all the heads of departments at the end of the Jalsa. He should ask them to bring the weaknesses of their department and discuss them to find solutions so as not to have those in future. Issues raised by the attendees must be accepted open heartedly and complaints should be removed and then for future a proper planning should be made. May Allah the Exalted grant success, Ameen.

USA Delegates attend Jalsa UK

American Sisters from various Majalis throughout the USA attended the UK Jalsa as members of the USA Delegation, together with National Sadr Lajna, Saliha Malik. Including our American brothers, there were close to 100 delegates from the USA. Members and guests were deeply moved by the generous hospitality, the practical demonstration of unity amongst people from all over the world coming together in loving harmony and the inspiring speeches. In particular the International Bai’at was most moving and confirmed our commitment to faith.

After the Jalsa the delegates attended a Mulaqat with Huzooratba. It was a wonderful, memorable occasion to sit in Huzoor’s company and feel his encouragement. “You are the best man” one of the children exclaimed, expressing everyone’s thoughts out loud! We all left with feelings of deep gratitude for having accepted the Messiahas and for being an Ahmadi.

Impressions of Jalsa UK

This Jalsa Salana was a sight to behold! We were greeted as true sisters that had been away and were missed. The dedication, sacrifice, love, willingness to help in any way made me hold in my heart the deepest respect and humility. Love for all hatred for none!

The International Bai’at is from Allah Alone. The beauty, truth, light, the heart-wrenching tears, prayers, and Love for Allah was overflowing.

One experience that particularly stands out is my participation in the International Bai’at. I was overcome emotionally with the powerful feeling of unity with my Khalifa, my community and the MIGHTY ROPE OF Allah.

One of the most memorable moments from this trip was during the Bai’at ceremony. I felt so overwhelmed and was able to let out all of my worries right there on the prayer mat next to thousands of others. Experiencing a moment like this some people wait a lifetime. The feeling of peace, love and direction without judgment - my spirit has been restored.

Interacting with sisters from all over the world, allowed me to see first hand the world- wide growth of Ahmadiyyat. We prayed together, smiled and interacted with each other with no distinctions based on ethnicity or nationality. It seems as if I experienced the highest form of love and affection as the workers and volunteers assisted me with my questions. They were always cheerful and willing to go the extra mile for even the smallest concern. May Allah bless them generously for their service!

Being here felt like world peace…

UK Jalsa 2016 was very memorable. Learning about the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community as well as connecting with not only Muslims, but people from different religious backgrounds from all over the world, was extraordinary. The delegates and volunteers were very welcoming and helpful throughout the whole Jalsa experience. Seeing how much passion people had for "Love for all Hatred For None" was touching because it was clear that the message actually makes an impact on people. I really enjoyed my experience here … Sincerely, Amie Kamara, Detroit - guest ******************************************************************************************************************* I left the closing prayer of Jalsa on Sunday to a chorus of volunteers wishing us well, singing and waving their hands. My heart soared! It was a joyful end to three of the most thought provoking and delightful days of the year. I don't think there is anything else I could do this year that could make me feel better, stronger, more challenged and motivated than this Jalsa weekend. My life has changed in ways I do not know yet, but that I am thankful for. Thank you Erika Parkins - City – guest

Tarbiyat Matters

The Condition of Bai'at # 9 states: That he/she shall keep himself/herself occupied in the service of God’s creatures for His sake only and shall endeavor towards the beneficence of mankind to the best of his/her God-given abilities and powers.

Service to humanity, fulfilling our Haququl Abad (duty to mankind) is second only to our Haququl Allah (duty to Allah). This is clearly illustrated by the following hadith of the Holy Prophet saw:

Allah will say on the Day of Judgment, ‘Son of Adam, I was sick but you did not visit Me.’ ‘My Lord, how could I visit You when You are the Lord of the Worlds?’ ‘Did you not know that one of My servants was sick and you didn’t visit him? If you had visited him, you would have found Me there.’ Then Allah will say, ‘Son of Adam, I needed food but you did not feed Me.’ ‘My Lord, how could I feed You when You are the Lord of the Worlds?’ ‘Did you not know that one of My servants was hungry but you did not feed him? If you had fed him, you would have found its reward with Me.’ ‘Son of Adam, I was thirsty, but you did not give Me something to drink.’ ‘My Lord, how could I give a drink when You are the Lord of the Worlds?’ ‘Did you not know that one of My servants was thirsty but you did not give him a drink? If you had given him a drink, you would have found its reward with Me’ (Al-Bukhari).

In today’s challenging times, it is not difficult to find people who need a helping hand or who are sick, alone or troubled. But very often, in spite of our best intentions, it can be difficult to find the time to help because we may be so wrapped up with the challenges in our own lives. However, if we keep in mind that the chance to help others is in fact a gift from Allah, we would never fail to grasp such opportunities that enable us to come closer to Him.

Lajna Matters November 2016

Our beloved Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vatba has stressed the importance of service to humanity:

Serving humanity requires that a person does not rest until he has solved the problems of others and takes the weight of their burdens onto his own shoulders. It requires that a person’s heart is consumed by a love for others, whereby he cares not for his own comfort – but rather he cares only for the comfort of others. It requires that a person is ever-ready to personally absorb all forms of distress for the sake of others and to consider the pain and of others as though it is his own pain. It requires that a person is ready to bear personal suffering or anxiety so that others can live in peace and contentment (International Humanity First Conference 2015).

May Allah enable us to seize every opportunity to reach Him and to reach out to our fellow beings, Ameen.

Tabligh Matters

In the months of July, August and September concentrated on the goal to live by our Lajna pledge and constitution by incorporating the 7th and 8th conditions of Bai’at into our daily lives. Lajna members sacrificed their time and wholeheartedly prepared Tabligh events. They established relationships and engaged in extensive conversations about Islam. Lajna performed Tabligh, whilst exhibiting humbleness, cheerfulness, forbearance and meekness (Bai’at #7). In addition, members of Lajna Ima’illah USA demonstrated how we as Ahmadis hold our faith, the honor of faith and the cause of Islam, dearer than our lives, wealth, children and other dear ones (Bai’at #8). The Fourth Khalifa, Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmadrh reminded us: Conveying the message of Islam in a pleasant manner is taught by the Holy Qur’an. One must be courteous in speech and engaged in doing good deeds. Good conduct improves good speech, which has the power to change hearts (Khutba November 8, 1991). Lajna Ima’illah USA continues to follow his excellent advice. Dhiya Tahira Bakr National Secretary Tabligh

Milwaukee, WI On July 20, 2016 members held a Holy Qur’an Exhibition at a local Library to showcase the true teachings of Islam and clear any controversial misconceptions, conceived by the public regarding this revered and maligned book. v Introducing Islam at a Spanish Speaking Church: On Sunday, September 25th, members of the Georgia Jama’at were invited by the Reverend Ramon Betances of St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church to give a presentation on Islam. After the Reverend had finished his sermon, he invited us to the stage. Mr. Nafis ur Rehman Sahib gave the speech in English and Lajna member, Najia Humayun translated the presentation in to Spanish. The audience and the Reverend were from Spanish speaking countries. v Afterwards, we joined the International Festival they were holding the same day, outside the church. We set up a table with Jama’at literature in Spanish. Lajna offered henna designs and snacks, which many people enjoyed. Two Church members expressed their interest and took flyers and copies of the presentation with them. Alhamdulillah, this was a great opportunity to spread the message of Islam and Ahmadiyyat to the Latino community in our area. Masha’Allah.

The evening was informative and unprecedented in having different sects of Islam at the same presentation table. A table was set up with books published by the Ahmadiyya Jama’at, pamphlets, and true facts about Dr. Mohammad Abdus Salam and Hazrat Khadijara for the guests to read. The

Media Watch Matters

Alhamdulillah, the Lajna Media Watch team continues to defend Islam by following the guidance of the Promised Messiah as. Terrorism and extremism have not stopped and the war in Iraq and Syria is affecting countless innocent lives particularly those of young children. In the midst of the negative news of the actions of Muslims acting against Islamic teachings, the Lajna Media Watch team had the opportunity to publish articles about Islam and Muslims that are positive. At the Summer Olympics we saw Muslim women in hijab not only participating in sports but actually winning medals. Unfortunately, despite the encouraging strides made by Muslim women in sports and other arenas, the French government issued a ban on Muslim women from wearing the full-body swimsuit, known as Burkini, from their public beaches.

Here are some examples of the wonderful work of defending Islam by our talented writers:

Some expressed their passion and interest in making changes for future Jama’at activities, such as camping. Sadr Sahiba emphasized the importance in safeguarding their purdah when going out. She encouraged them to communicate and coordinate with their Local Sadrs on their interests and issues.

Northwest Region:

v Lajna 15-25 years, attended a Regional Camp that linked worldly and spiritual affairs. The main emphasis of the camp was to teach the young women to always place a great deal of their own efforts and hard work in praying for themselves and achieving their goals. Other prayers mentioned by Huzooratba were also discussed. The importance of giving sadqa prior to making a decision in life was also stressed. South Region v 20 young women from 5 Majalis (Houston South, Cypress Houston, Houston North, Austin & Dallas) assembled a ‘hygiene and convenience kit’ for the homeless at the Baitul Muqeet Mosque, Austin on September 3rd 2016. Members enjoyed doing this activity and expressed that when passing homeless people on the street it is natural to want to help them. However, rather than give them money, which can be spent on things we don't support as a community, we decided to assemble something useful and practical for them. Houston North v Houston North held a Youth Event in September. Our youth gathered for a casual Chick-Fil-A lunch to discuss the seventh and eighth Conditions of Bai’at. They shared examples in their lives, in which they chose faith over worldly matters, and discussed how this helps them to attain nearness to Allah. We further discussed arranged marriage and how it is one of the ways of choosing faith over the world. During the meeting, we used WhatsApp group messages as a tool to share each individual’s understanding of the above Conditions of Bait. It assured each girl had a clear grasp of the conditions and expectations from them.

LA Inland Empire v Our youth are making sack lunches once a month for the "Union Station Homeless Shelter Pasadena".

Fervent prayers are requested for the end of the persecution of our Ahmadi brethren throughout the world. The following are some reminders of our beloved Huzoor, Khalifatul Masih Vatba:

When supplications will be offered in earnest, they will be heard in the Divine threshold. Today, this persecution and hostility, which has reached its extreme, should arouse in us the fervor and ardor to offer humble supplications before God Almighty. Each Ahmadi should offer prayers like an agitated soul because God does not reject the prayer offered in such a state. The Holy Quran states:

“Or, Who answers the distressed person when he calls upon Him, and removes the evil, and makes you successors in the earth? Is there a God besides Allah? Little is it that you reflect.” (27:63)

The Promised Messiahas has taught us that unless there is absolute anguish and tenderness in the heart, which beseeches the Mercy of the Lord, that supplication will have no value in the sight of God Almighty. This anguish of the heart is a pre-condition for the acceptance of prayer.

Every Ahmadi should offer such prayers in pain and in humility, especially those living in Pakistan who experience these cruelties directly. Prayers are our only weapon, our only tool.
