FLORES, MEMBER • GREGG PETERSON, MEMBER Dear Charter Oak Holiday Parade Participant, We are excited to have you in the Charter Oak Holiday Parade! Enjoy the parade and then be sure to venture over to the Holiday Festival with great vendors and food trucks. End the evening watching the fireworks from your blankets on the field or in the bleachers. (No food, drinks or chairs on the field). General information: Parade date: Friday, December 8, 2017 at 6:00pm Parade will take place RAIN OR SHINE. We apologize but no refunds will be issued for inclement weather. Do not throw any items into the crowd. Check-in and Line-up: Line-up is in the Charter Oak High School Parking Lot. Enter at west side entrance and proceed to check in table (by baseball field). Follow volunteer directions to your spot. Entry line-up times are assigned as noted below and begin at 4:00pm. Line-up times are important. Please arrive on time. See attached Line-up List Line-up Times 4:00pm Entries 1-17 4:20pm Entries 18-34 4:40pm Entries 35-51 5:00pm Entries 52-65 5:45pm – Parade route roads closed to traffic 6:00pm—Parade begins 7:00pm - Parade ends; Holiday Festival at COHS begins 7:45pm/8:00pm – Raffle/Light Up the Night Entry Winner/Fireworks at COHS Stadium If you are a large group, you should send only one person to the check-in table. Entries with multiple vehicles and/or marchers/groups should arrange a meeting place and proceed to the line-up spot in a timely manner. It is your job to ensure adequate supervision for children. Leave driveways clear. Drivers must remain with their vehicles at all times. Disbanding/End of Parade: At the end of the parade, you should disband as quickly as possible. Marching groups – You should designate a meeting area and be sure parents are aware where to meet their child. Passenger vehicles can proceed through the COHS parking from the east entrance and follow staff direction to parking area or to exit through campus to Cypress Boulevard. Vehicles towing flatbeds or trailers are encouraged to park in the Viewing Area in the COHS parking lot along the stadium to allow spectators to view your hard work and fabulous creations. Please follow volunteer parking instructions. Parade Route: It is important to keep the parade moving. There is no stopping or handing out items along the route. Parade begins heading west on Covina Boulevard from Charter Oak High School parking lot to north on Mangrove, to east on Cienega to south on Bonnie Cove, to west on Covina Boulevard, ending at Charter Oak High School parking lot. Follow volunteer directions to disband, exit or park. Parade route is 1.3 miles. Maintain a safe distance of no more/no less than 2 car lengths from the group in front of you. Vehicles should have headlights off with just running lights on. Vehicles that do not have the ability to turn headlights off must cover headlights. Restrooms are available at Charter Oak Park, Adult Education Center (20350 E. Cienega Avenue) and COHS Stadium. Parking: Parking will be limited. Be sure to follow all regular parking restrictions on streets and in neighborhoods. There will be no parking on the parade route. Access to and from some parking areas will be limited but parking is available in the following areas until full: o COUSD District Service Center, 20240 E. Cienega Avenue, Covina, CA 91724 o Adult Education, 20350 E. Cienega Avenue, Covina, CA 91724 o Cedargrove Elementary, 1209 N. Glendora Avenue, Covina, CA 91724 Again, it is imperative that you understand regular parking rules will be in place and access to and from lots will be limited. Spectators, Holiday Festival, Fireworks: Tell your family and friends to set chairs up along Mangrove, Cienega, Bonnie Cove, Covina Boulevard to view the parade. (Parade starts and ends in the Charter Oak High School parking lot.) Browse the Holiday Festival and visit vendors at COHS following the parade! Bring blankets to set up in the COHS Stadium field to watch the fireworks display. (Blankets only; no chairs. No food or drinks allowed on the field.) Bleachers will be available for eating and viewing. o 5:45pm – Parade route roads closed to traffic o 6:00pm—Parade begins o 7:00pm - Parade ends; Holiday Festival at COHS begins o 7:45pm/8:00pm – Raffle/Light Up the Night Winner/Fireworks at COHS Stadium o (Don’t be on the Naughty List - No chairs, food, drinks on field!) The stadium bleachers will be available for people to sit, eat and view fireworks.
