BRIDGES Safe & Respectful Schools A Year in the Life of BRIDGES Schools: Loara High School Garden Grove High School Newport Harbor High School In 2014-15 the Loara BRIDGES Program The BRIDGES Safe & Respectful Schools Newport Harbor High School BRIDGES launched an anti-violence campaign to team at Garden Grove High School students focused their school year on build empathy, provide resources, and unified their campus during the 2014-15 teacher appreciation and engagement, offer alternatives to violence. Newport-Mesa Recognizes Six High School Seniors for Character Traits Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) recognized and honored six high school seniors for their character and leadership traits. “We have a wealth of incredible students and it is gratifying to annually recognize a few of them,” said Superintendent Dr. Fred Navarro. “Getting to know students and their genuine good natured approach to life is something I look forward to each year,” he added. The Character Trait Award Programs aims to highlight six seniors, one from each high school, who symbolize one of the six pillars of character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Staff members from the six NMUSD schools nominate a student for each category and the final award choices are decided on by a small committee steered by Superintendent Dr. Fred Navarro. Kaitlynn Kistler, Early College High School – Trustworthiness Selected for the Character Trait Award of Trustworthiness, Kaitlynn is a dedicated, thoughtful, and hardworking student. She is a member of the National Honors Society and dedicates her time to assist struggling classmates and goes above and beyond to offer her support. Ryan Kassel, Corona del Mar High School – Respect Selected for Character Trait Award for Respect, Ryan is unfailingly courteous, kind and respectful to his peers, teachers, and coaches. He is captain of the Varsity Cross Country team and participates as an intern in the Biorobotics Lab at UC Irvine. Menzin Echols, Back Bay High School – Responsibility Selected for the Character Trait Award for responsibility, Menzin has maintained excellent attendance, stellar grades, and earned the respect and friendship of his peers as well as the Back Bay faculty and staff. -

A survey was sent to 375 randomly selected districts throughout the State requesting information about model programs dealing with any of the following: curriculum, staffing patterns, office organization, gifted programs, slow learner programs, programs for the emotionally disturbed, individualized learning, advisory committees, career and vocational education, the use of department chairmen, or other innovative programs. The returned data were organized into a taxonomy of educational programs in order to facilitate easyAetrieval. The six major categories of 1) alternative education, 2) career-vocational education, 3) curriculum, 4) instructional techniques, 5) management, and 6) special education were developed; subcategories were constructed for each of the foregoing and programs arranged alphabetically in each class. Each of the more than 800 citations in the taxonomy supplies information on the program's title, a description of its features, the district's name, location and chief characteristics, and the person to contact for additional details. -

LAS VEGAS AREA HIGH SCHOOLS August 2008 Page 1 of 6 INTRODUCTION The following driving instructions to Las Vegas area high schools are based upon per- sonal observations, and are meant to assist high school sports officials with finding the desired school quickly. The route given is usually the easiest one, written for somebody who is driving across town and has never been to the school before, and may not always be the “best” or shortest route. Because you didn’t have to pay anything for this guide, no liability is accepted for errors of any sort. If you do find obvious errors, please send them to <[email protected]> so that they can be corrected (if you don’t, they won’t be). TERMINOLOGY 1) “US95” is coincident with US93 and I-515 at various places. 2) “I-215” is used to refer to the beltway which circles throughout the outer portions of the Las Vegas Valley. This entire roadway will be under construction for many years to come. Some parts are officially called “Clark County 215” for now, but it is all the same road. 3) Distances were measured from the center of each intersection. Some urban intersec- tions are 0.1mi to 0.2mi wide, and may affect your readings. Allow for tiny errors in the distances indicated. WASC 2019 Self-Study Report
1 I PREFACE The North Orange County Regional Occupational Program (NOCROP) 2019 WASC Self-Study Process has been a collaborative effort over the last eighteen months involving various stakeholders. During this time, the WASC Leadership Team facilitated opportunities to reflect on NOCROP’s mission of student success and the Career Technical Education experience we offer. NOCROP’s self-study process began in October 2017 with the review of accreditation criteria by Dana Lynch, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. In December 2017, the WASC Executive Team was formed to facilitate the process and Jennifer Prado, Patient Care Pathways Instructor was selected to serve as the 2019 Self-Study Coordinator. The self-study process was officially launched with a WASC Executive Team Meeting in February 2018, where Focus Group Chairs and Co-Chairs were assigned, and timelines were established. Focus Group work related to students and instruction commenced via Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings during March, April, and May 2018. Individual meetings for the remaining Focus Groups were held during those same months. The focus on reviewing data and reflecting on its meaning has become more important and work was started early. The Educational Services Department provided data updates to instructional staff at the start of PLC meetings and guided them to reflect on its meaning, impact on them individually, and impact to the organization. Further review of data took place during NOCROP’s Back-to- School In-Service in August 2018 and at Spring In-Service in January 2019, which resulted in the implications identified in Chapter 1 of this document.
