In this article there discusses the question of advisability high- rise construction, the reasons for its use, both positive and negative sides of it. On the one hand, a number of authors believe that it is difficult to avoid high-rise construction due to the limited areas in very large cities. On the other hand, a number of other authors draw attention to the problems associated with high-rise construction. The author of the article analyses examples of high-rise construction in several countries (UAE, Dubai "Burj Khalifa"; Japan "Tokyo Sky Tree"; United States of America, "Willis Tower"; Russia "Federation Tower") and proves the advisability of high-rise construction in the city. 1 Introduction Nowadays high-rise construction is becoming more and more actual in the world. This is due to the fact the urbanization urban space is increasing and there is also accelerated development of construction technologies and technology of engineering support of buildings. As it was considered in USSR and then in Russia, high-rise buildings have height of 75 m that is more 25 floors. As for other countries, high-rise buildings have height from 35 to 100 metres. -

Proskurin1 Orenburg State University, 460018, Orenburg, prospect Pobedy, 13, Russia Abstracts. The evolutionary process of high-rise construction is in the article focus. The aim of the study was to create a retrospective matrix reflecting the tasks of the study such as: structuring the most iconic high-rise objects within historic boundaries. The study is based on contemporary experience of high-rise construction in different countries. The main directions and regional specifics in the field of high-rise construction as well as factors influencing the further evolution process are analyzed. The main changes in architectural stylistics, form-building, constructive solutions that focus on the principles of energy efficiency and bio positivity of "sustainable buildings", as well as the search for a new typology are noted. The most universal constructive methods and solutions that turned out to be particularly popular are generalized. The new typology of high-rises and individual approach to urban context are noted. The results of the study as a graphical scheme made it possible to represent the whole high-rise evolution. The new spatial forms of high-rises lead them to new role within the urban environments. Futuristic hyperscalable concepts take the autonomous urban space functions itself and demonstrate us how high-rises can replace multifunctional urban fabric, developing it inside their shells. 1 Introduction It's impossible nowadays to imagine the world without high-rises, which is the mainstream in the forming of high dense urban landscapes. -

118 Pietrzak1:Layout 1 2015-09-08 17:34 Strona 1 Shaping and structuring of high-rise office buildings in Europe Joanna Pietrzak Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Structural Design, Construction and Technical Infrastructure Koszykowa 55, 00-659 Warsaw, Poland, e-mail: [email protected] The subject of the study were high-rise office and mixed-use buildings in Europe, with a height exceeding 150 meters and realized after the year 2000. The aim of the analysis was to examine the correlation between form and structure of the overground parts of this buildings. The skyscrapers were categorized according to the analysis of the core location and the form of the building. The article presents the results of analyses of skyscrapers with a single, inner core. The analyzed high-rise buildings’ forms are highly varied. Although the skyscrapers of biaxial symmetry plans seem to dominate, one can observe the increasing forgoing of design forms with regular, repetitive floors. However, translating the projects with free-form shapes into the material form constitutes a significant problem. The most important parts of the skyscraper are the ground floor and the top part, which is often shaped as a structure between a flat ending and a spire. The structure of high-rise buildings in Europe almost always rely on the cooperation of the core with the peripheral supports. The cores, frames and ceilings are based on different material solutions, but the most common combination is the whole structure made of the monolithic reinforced concrete. The core is usually placed in the central part of the plan and its area on the average equals 23% of the ground floor’s area. -

CTBUH Year in Review: Tall Trends of 2013 Small Increase in Completions Marks Return to Upward Trend Report by Daniel Safarik and Antony Wood, CTBUH Research by Marty Carver and Marshall Gerometta, CTBUH By all appearances, the small increase in the total number of tall-building completions from 2012 into 2013 is indicative of a return to the prevalent trend of increasing completions each year over the past decade. Perhaps 2012, with its small year-on-year drop in completions, was the last year to register the full effect of the 2008 / 2009 global financial crisis, and a small sigh of relief can be let out in the tall-building industry as we begin 2014. The tallest 20 buildings completed in 2013 © CTBUH Please see end of report for a more detailed 2013 skyline At the same time, it is important to note that 2013 was the second-most successful year ever, in terms of 200-meter-plus building completion, with 73 buildings of 200 meters or greater height completed. When examined in the broad course of skyscraper completions since 2000, the rate is still increasing. From 2000 to 2013, the total number of 200-meter-plus buildings in existence increased from 261 to 830 – an astounding 318 percent.
