It's 2017, and I just want to say one word to you, just one word. Are you listening? AUDIOBOOKS If your New Year's resolutions include more (exercise, reading) or less (road rage, sleeplessness), put AUDIOBOOKS at the top of that list. You won't feel like you're on a treadmill when you are engrossed in a mystery. Being stuck in traffic isn't so bad when you are catching up on your reading. When you can't sleep, stop thinking about whatever it is that's keeping you awake. Close your eyes, plug in your earphones and put the AUDIOBOOK on sleep timer. You don't have to pay, not even overdue fines, or even come into the library. You just have to have a Norwalk library card. If you don't have one, but live, work or go to school in Norwalk, Go online and get one! (Actually, that should be New Year's resolution #1). We have three databases from which you can choose your first audiobook, and that is not a free trial; they are always free. Be sure to download the books through their apps so you can listen wherever you are. Hoopla Enter your email; scroll down to Norwalk Public Library (CT); enter your library card number; download the app. Hoopla titles are all available all the time. One Click Digital Register with your library card #; set up a user name and password; give your email; download the app. One Click titles will not be available for you to download if someone else has them "checked out". In that case, you can put a title "on hold" for you to be notified when the AUDIOBOOK is "returned". Overdrive Sign in with your library card number; download the app. Using Overdrive is like checking a book out of the library. Be sure to check it back in when you are done so the next person on the hold list can be notified. For more info, call 203-899-2780 (main library) or 203-899-2790 (SoNo branch library) and ask to book a librarian for one-on-one assistance. We also have printed handouts available. You can download E-books and movies from these databases as well, but they won't help you with road rage, exercise, or sleeping. Now, about those ten pounds...
