Airport Development Commission Meeting Minutes – April 3, 2012

Attendance: John Bath, Bill Hochstedler, Brad Hyslop, Rick Kirton, Dennis Leney, Ed Linkewich, Traci Roy, Allan Schofield, Henry Wall

Meeting Opened: 5:16 pm

Business Arising:

- The strategic plan meeting is scheduled for Saturday, April 21st at 9:00 am and will be held in the airport boardroom.

- A site visit with Keewatin-Aski is being planned regarding the drainage issues in front of Wasaya’s & Skycare’s hangars as well as the silt deposits on the golf course property. The commission members will be notified of the date and time. It was mentioned that a large contractor is currently in town with necessary equipment and perhaps the airport could get a good price on the drainage project if the tender gets out soon.

Old Business:

- The commission made a few changes to the Procedure By-Law. The commission agreed to review the By-Law at their next meeting.

- Henry gave a brief overview on how the taxes are levied on airport property. There is one roll number and each property is assessed and taxed accordingly. Because our airport is municipally owned, tenants are taxed the commercial rate. MPAC has 3 years to assess new properties (for both new construction and additions) and the tenants for these properties are responsible for taxes during this time.

New Business:

- We received an invitation for the annual Bearskin Airlines Charity Golf Classic being held on June 21st, 2012. This charity does a lot of good in our community and the airport has attended this event in the past as it provides an opportunity

for the airport to support one of its tenants and meet with various airport users in a social forum while promoting the airport.

Airport Managers Report:

- “Expression of interest” for capital projects should be sent out prior to sending out tenders. As this would help in finding companies that are genuinely interested in our projects.

- In regards to the ATB expansion project, when the tender goes out for the consultant, the commission would like the tender to state that the consultant must contact the airport tenants to get their input for design ideas.

- The commission would like to congratulate Ben on being our new Airport Manager!
