Since its inception on 18 November 2011, the centre has actively played its role as a one- stop information and activities centre to promote practical cooperation between ASEAN and China in the areas of trade, investment, tourism, education, culture and information and media. Tema tahun ini yaitu “Memajukan Kemitraan Parlemen untuk Komunitas Berkelanjutan”. Menginjak usianya yang ke-52 tahun sejak pertama kali didirikan, terlepas dari berbagai tantangan regional dan global terhadap eksistensinya, ASEAN sebagai sebuah organisasi regional, telah cukup berhasil dalam memelihara stabilitas dan perdamaian di kawasan Asia Tenggara sebagai sebuah pra-kondisi yang mutlak diperlukan untuk pertumbuhan ekonomi dan pembangunan berkelanjutan. Berkaitan dengan pencapaian tersebut, DPR RI menyambut baik visi para Pemimpin ASEAN yaitu “Partnership for Sustainability”, melalui kebijakan yang berorientasi keberlanjutan dalam menciptakan stabilitas keamanan, pembangunan dan pertumbuhan ekonomi, serta keamanan manusia, melalui kemitraan dengan para pemangku kepentingan di ASEAN dan Komunitas Internasional. Terlepas dari pencapaian-pencapaian tersebut, tantangan yang harus dihadapi oleh negara- negara ASEAN juga semakin meningkat. seiring dengan menguatnya ancaman keamanan non-tradisional di kawasan seperti; terorisme dan ekstremisme, perdagangan narkoba, perdagangan manusia, bantuan kemanusiaan dan kesiapsiagaan bencana, keamanan maritim dan ancaman dunia maya. Untuk mengatasi berbagai tantangan global dan regional ini, DPR RI mendorong terciptanya kerjasama dan kemitraan yang lebih erat antara negara-negara di ASEAN. Oleh karena itu tema yang diambil dalam Sidang Umum AIPA ke-40 ini, yaitu “Advancing Parliamentary Partnership for Sustainable Community”, sangatlah relevan.

    PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN MANAMA PARTICIPATES IN THE 2ND ASEAN BOWLING TOURNAMENT 2016 The participants of 2nd ASEAN Bowling Fun Games led by the HOMs of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines) 23 September 2016 – The five (5) ASEAN Embassies in Bahrain namely Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines, held the 2nd ASEAN Bowling Fun Games at the Funland Bowling Center, Muharraq, Kingdom of Bahrain, on 23 September 2016. This event was organized to foster unity and camaraderie among ASEAN communities in Bahrain and was participated by a total of 16 teams from various ASEAN Communities of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Philippines. Each team played a 3-game series to determine the winners. The Brunei Darussalam Team won the team championship, while the 2nd and 3rd places went to the Team of Malaysia and Team of the Philippines, respectively. Mr. Socimo F. De Guzman and Mr. Edwin S. Guzman Jr. from the Philippine Embassy Team won the Doubles High Game champions, while the 2nd and 3rd places went to Mr. Johari Hashim and Mr. Motty Corre of Team Brunei Darussalam and Mr. Md. Khaizul Yusoff and Mr. Mohd Nazri Wagiman of Team Malaysia. Mr. Edwin S. Guzman Jr. from the Philippine Embassy Team also won as 2nd Runner up in the Singles High Game for men, while Ms. Mina Salazar also from Team Philippines won as the Singles High Game Champion for Women. The tournament was organized by the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam under the patronage of the Embassy of Malaysia. Dr. Dhafer Ahmed Al Umran from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs graced the event as the tournament’s guest of honor.
