For more than 115 years Renault has embraced the challenge of motorsport in multiple guises. It recognised the value of competitive activities for technical and commercial gain: in December 1898 Louis Renault drove the Type A Voiturette up the steepest street in Paris, the rue Lepic. The first orders for the ground-breaking car with direct drive flooded in. In 1902 the nimble, lightweight Type K, fitted with Renault’s first 4-cylinder engine, took victory in the Paris-Vienna rally. Again, many more cars were sold. Going through the years, in 1977 Renault introduced the first-ever turbocharged car to F1.

We won in the very first grand prix in 1906 and, 110 years since then, our enthusiasm for motorsport burns as deep inside as ever. Today, Renault Sport leads all of our activities in both motorsport and our performance road cars. From the Renault Clio Cup, through the mighty 550hp R.S.01, Formula Renault 2.0, the all-electric Formula E up to our Formula One team, we have an undeniable passion for competition running through our veins. Renault’s name appears in the career history of so many great drivers. Half of the grid of the British Touring Car Championship started their career in the UK Clio Cup. Over half of the drivers on the current Formula One grid have raced in our championships. This passion for performance at the highest level translates into our sports road cars with today’s Clio Renault Sport and Mégane Renault Sport. Renault Sport: Passion and Performance 3 Hall of Fame Buying a Renault Sport today is to buy more than just a car. It is to drive the latest in a long line of class-defining products, each pushing the boundaries of engineering expertise and driving dynamics in their respective eras.

  • Press Release
Press Release OCTOBER 22, 2012 Seven meetings and a whole lot more in 2013 World Series by Renault turns nine in 2013, and the calendar for the year will feature seven meetings, all organised by Renault Sport Technologies, including a first visit for WSR to Austria and the Red Bull Ring. Also on the schedule are three European Le Mans Series events, while Formula Renault 3.5 Series will make stopoffs at Monza and Monaco, where it will provide the warmup act for the most prestigious Formula One Grand Prix of the season. Not to be outdone, Eurocup Clio has also been given additional slots at Imola and Navarra. As is now the tradition, the forthcoming World Series by Renault season will get under way at Motorland Aragon in late April, by which time the battle for the Formula Renault 3.5 Series will have already commenced at Monza, the home of motorsport, on the first weekend of the month. FR 3.5 Series has another key date to keep at the end of May when it decamps to Monaco for the Formula One Grand Prix weekend, giving the drivers another opportunity to test their skills on the principality’s streets, with the movers and shakers of F1 looking on. The four WSR categories will reconvene in early June at SpaFrancorchamps, before heading east to Russia’s Moscow Raceway and swinging back west for their very first gettogether at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The first stop after the midsummer break is Hungary, with the season then coming to a close with the Paul Ricard meeting in France and the big finale at Spain’s Catalunya circuit.

  • Press Kit 2018 // FOREWORD
Press Kit 2018 // FOREWORD It is a great source of pride for Groupe Renault and its employees to see the Renault name once again working its way to the sharp end of Formula 1. Motor racing is an intrinsic part of the Renault DNA and from Formula E races in cities to rallying through to Formula 1, we have always achieved outstanding results. Renault Sport Formula One Team’s ambition is clearly to uphold the outstanding record of the past and the 2017 season has confirmed we are on the right track. We are a team on the rise. We have two very talented drivers who are hungry for results. Enstone is regenerated and the workforce has already increased by more than 35%. At Viry, our long-term commitment in several motorsport categories allows to develop a detailed plan for our facilities. Our investment has so far been successfully translated to the track as we rose from ninth to sixth in the Constructors’ Championship in 2017 and ended the year with the fourth fastest car. The success of the programme in just two years is testament to the resilient plan laid down early in the creation of the team and the strong job done by Cyril and the entire Renault Sport Racing teams. I am convinced year three will take us one step closer to the long-term aim: winning races and challenging for championships. We are equally satisfied with the results we are seeing off-track. Formula 1’s new owners, have developed various marketing initiatives that have enabled the sport to grow into an even bigger brand and engage more closely with fans; steps forward which are incredibly important for us as the only mass market car constructor in the sport.
