BUYOUT 2001 309,690 340 The circuit layout was modified with corners being reworked or removed and new ones created to provide numerous RENOVATION configurations. In 2002, the Circuit Paul Ricard High Tech Test Track broke new ground with an innovative alternative DISTANCE COVERED (KM) MAXIMUM SPEED (KM/H) to gravel pits: large run-off areas were installed on the outside of the corners. These zones adopted the Blue Line concept: namely, abrasive lines that slowed the cars down. It set a new standard in terms of safety that was soon adopted by several circuits. It was an artistic choice, which gave the site a new identity. 54 301 2007 SPEED CHANGES PER LAP TOP SPEED IN THE DOUBLE DROITE The Circuit Paul Ricard HTTT was designated the first centre of excellence by the FIA Institute for safety in motorsport. After significant work at the beginning of 2018, the winter break at the end of the year allowed for some new 2018 improvements to the Circuit Paul Ricard. Changes were made to the pit lane and to the track. Following the complete 1 min 34 s 225 resurfacing of the track ahead of last season, other work was carried out this winter to remove the “patches” in the ADJUSTMENTS turns. Regarding the pit lane, changes were made to improve the safety of the drivers. First, the entry to the pit lane RECORD FOR BEST LAP IN A RACE was moved to before the Virage du Pont. This change led to the construction of an additional bridge and the addition , MERCEDES – 2018 of TecPro barriers and triple slide rails. The exit lane from the pit lane was extended to the second overpass allowing 1 PRESS FILE FORMULA safer re-entry to the track in the braking zone of the first bend.

The Circuit Paul Ricard will host the 60th Formula 1 Grand Prix de France.

Juan Manuel Fangio, the very first winner of the 1950 Formula 1 Grand Prix de France, was born on 24 June, which was the date of the 2018 Formula 1 Grand Prix de France Le Castellet.

With 59 contests since 1950, the Formula 1 Grand Prix de France is among the oldest of the World Championships and logically among the most raced, just behind Great Britain (69), (68), (65) and (62).

Twenty-nine of the 59 editions of the Formula 1 GP de France were won by the driver crowned the world champion for the same season. Victory in France is therefore synonymous with the world title in 49.2% of cases.

Kimi Raikonnen will celebrate his 300th Grand Prix at the 2019 Grand Prix de France.

McLaren will celebrate its 850th Grand Prix at the 2019 Grand Prix de France.
