EVERY GIFT MATTERS IN BUILDING OUR FUTURE

Dear OLLI Friend,

As we enter the 20th year of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Ringling College, our future has never looked brighter! In the fall we will be in our permanent home at the Sarasota Museum of Art. Also, we are expanding our services in Lakewood Ranch through a partnership with Schroeder-Manatee Lakewood Ranch. Our Strategic Program Committee is helping us develop programs for pre and new retirees. With 10,000 Boomers turning 65 every day, it’s an exciting time to be a lifelong learning provider. As we look to the future, we also want to acknowledge some important milestones: • In 1999 we provided lifelong learning services to 75 retirees; in 2018 that number rose to 2,648 retirees • We provided educational services in Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Longboat Key, and Anna Maria Island • Because of our excellent programming and stewardship of resources, we received The Bernard Osher Foundation Grant to become one of only 122 OLLIs in the nation • We celebrated our five-year partnership with Westminster Point Pleasant in Bradenton as its lifelong learning provider In addition to these milestones, our members continue to tell us what OLLI means to them:

“Retirement was not easy for me. The frustration of being retired was eased when I became an instructor and felt purpose again.” “Since we moved to Sarasota, OLLI has provided us the perfect opportunity to become engaged in our areas of interest as well as to meet new friends with similar interests. We continue to be impressed by the diverse class offerings.”

Last year, with the support of 197 individuals and businesses, we raised nearly $80,000 for scholarships and program enrichment. As our mission to serve retirees continues to grow, we encourage you to join us in building the future by making a gift to OLLI. Some of the many ways you can help are through annual giving, monthly gifts, planned giving, and charitable IRA rollovers. Your gift will help support new initiatives as we explore expanded outreach to retirees across our two-county region. This is YOUR program, and every gift matters.

We would like to thank—our members, instructors, volunteers, Advisory Council members—for all you have done for OLLI at Ringling College over the years. We wouldn’t be where we are without your support. We hope you enjoy our spring and summer courses and events. We look forward to seeing you in the halls!

With gratitude,

Janna Overstreet Susan Samelson OLLI Executive Director OLLI Development Committee Chairwoman INDEX
