Dear parent, We understand that this is an unprecedented time for our students and we wish to support them with their post 16 transition. With this in mind, please find information from local colleges about virtual events, course content and other links that may be relevant for your child. Applications to college are done online via the college website. Students can and should apply to more than one college. St John Rigby College: Student Information Hub and Online Virtual Open Event- Tuesday 3rd November. At St John Rigby College we are passionate about working with and developing young people. To aid the transition from school pupil to college student we have developed our Student Information Hub. Here, you will find a wealth of information regarding the courses, facilities and support on offer at St John Rigby College. Unfortunately, this isn’t possible at the moment. However, on Tuesday 3rd November we will host our first ever Online Virtual Open Event. Our specialist School Liaison & Admissions Team will be supporting schools to offer advice and guidance and to help pupils explore the range of suitable courses on offer. They will be working with partner schools while your son/daughter is in year 11, but can also be contacted directly on 01942 761111. We have a College community where each person can flourish and we are extremely proud of our students. This year, more than 400 of them secured places at some of the very best universities, while others found that their course had equipped them with the skills and confidence to gain employment or an apprenticeship. We will be holding virtual Open Events on Monday 12 October and Monday 9 November, where you will have the opportunity to view tutor presentations online and take part in a live Q and A. You will also be able to take a virtual tour of our learning centres to see for yourself why so many young people choose to study with us. We also host a special daytime, Saturday Open Day in September too. These events are held at our Leyland Campus. Our next Open Event is scheduled for Thursday 8th October 3.30pm – 7.30pm where you will gain access to all our fantastic Open Day materials online, including 3d tours, videos, course searches and teacher profiles, as well as the chance to apply for September ’21! Register here: https://openday.runshaw.ac.uk/ St Helens College: Virtual Open Event Wednesday 21st October Cowley Sixth Form College will be running Virtual Open Evenings this year for prospective students and their parents/carers. We know that you want to visit us in person and we are going to miss the opportunity to meet every one of our prospective students in person. However, this year, we need to do things a little differently. From today, Thursday 1st October, our trailer video is live on social media and the website and registrations are now open for you to attend our Virtual Open Evenings (click here). On Monday 5th October, the brand new 2021/22 Prospectus will go live on the website and online applications will be open. Virtual Open Evenings will take place on Wednesday 14th October and Thursday 19th November from 5:00-7:00pm, Southport College Throughout the year we offer a huge range of exciting events, including brilliant open days packed with wonderful ways to experience life at Southport College and a plethora of workshops, taster days and master classes. Staff from all our subject areas across our Preston, Liverpool, Blackburn, Warrington and Manchester Centres will all be online throughout the morning, along with staff from Admissions, Finance, Accommodation, Apprenticeships and Inclusive Learning.
