Yes, even a black and tan styled beer with its name from a brewery with the same name. According to the USGS, Mississippi mud has over 80 forms of sand, stone and other mineral deposits. A Mississippi Geological, Economic and Topographical Survey Bulletin (Jackson Mississippi, 1963) states that the mud can be yellow, red, blue to jet black in color. It also can contain numerous types of clay, other sediment and rock strata. Human interaction with the river has affected its flow, direction, quality and even potential destruction of wet lands and aquatic life. Furthermore, industrial pollution has added unwanted and undesirable toxic wastes. This influences water quality, especially to communities using the river for drinking water.
