Silloth Carnival 2007

Report by: Carnival Chairman John Hope Once again we were favoured with fine weather for Silloth Carnival. A very big thanks must go to all who helped in any way. The large crowd who turned out made all the hard work over many months worthwhile. Thanks also to the many people who took part in the parade, without them there would not be a carnival. May I welcome you all back again in 2008 when we will do our best to have another exciting day.

Silloth Music & Beer Festival 2007

David Wallace, Chairman of Silloth Music & Beer Festival would like to thank all those involved in working towards making such a success of this years festival. With an even larger tent, more beers and ciders than before and the best ever line-up of both famous and local bands, around 6,000 people enjoyed this wonderful event on Silloth Green. It is too early to know whether it was a financial success, however, everyone should realise that this event is the main fund raiser for all the other events financially supported by Silloth Festivals throughout the year. All the headline bands who attended this year (The Commitments, Wilko Johnson and the Cavern Beatles) congratulated the organisers on a wonderful venue. This is becoming an event for the whole town to be very proud of. Local residents put in many hours of work over the year to make it so good, without their help the whole town would miss many other activities which are supported by the profits. The winner of the £300 Karaoke prize is Wendy Paisley from Maryport.
