Chapter 1: Introduction 1.1. District Profile The district of Kakching came into existence on the 8thDecember 2016 when the State Government announced the formation of 7 new district through a notification of the Government of Manipur, (Secretariat: Revenue Department Order No. 16/20/2016-R dated 8th December 2016), (Manipur Extraordinary Gazette No. 408 of 9.12.2016). It is situated in the southeastern part of Manipur. It is bounded by Thoubal and Imphal West districts on the north, Tengnoupal and Chandel districts on the east, Bishnupur districts on the west and Chandel district on the south. Its average elevation is not very much different from the rest of the Manipur Valley, which is about 790 metres on an average above the mean sea level. Although the district is a part of the valley, the area of the district is not entirely plain. Many rivers flow through the district and many lakes dot its surface, some of which are closely inter-twined with many folk tales and stories. 4(four) Assembly Constituencies namely Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency, Wabgai Assembly Constituency, Sugnu Assembly Constituency and Kakching Assembly Constituency fall under the District.Kakching district comprises of two sub-divisionsnamely Kakching and Waikhong. It has 3 Municipal Councils namely, Kakching, Sugnu and Kakching Khunou. The district has two community development blocks one each at Kakching and Waikhong sub-division. 1.2. Administrative Setup The District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner (Collector) is the head of the district. He is assisted in this work by other officers and staff as are appointed from time to time.

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Sector: (i) Setting up of Industrial Estates: The Department of Trade, Commerce & Industries, Manipur is committed to set up industrial estates in each of the 16 (sixteen) districts of Manipur with the financial assistance of the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises and the NEC. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India provides fund for development of infrastructure such as land development, power supply, roads, fencing etc. whereas NEC provides funds for construction of work sheds. Prior to 2017-18, only the Industrial Estate at Takyelpat in Imphal West District was functional. With the guidance of the new Government, more efforts were made and construction of two Industrial Estates of Bishnupur District at Tera Urak and that of Thoubal District at Kuraopokpi have been completed and commissioned during September 2017 and January 2018 respectively. There are 27 Nos. of Worksheds in each of the Industrial Estates. In addition, construction of Industrial Estates at Chandel, Ukhrul and Churachandpur districts have been started while the required lands have been acquired in the districts of Imphal East, Senapati and Tamenglong. Funding pattern in respect of MSME and that of State Government is 80:20 while that of NEC is 90:10. (a) Industrial Estate at Khopibung in Churachandpur District: Construction of Industrial Estate of Churachandpur District at Khopibung has been started with the assistance from MSME since the year 2016 and it is under rapid progress. He is the one of the major God of Manipur and has been told either by oral or written books but no one can fix the life span of Khamlangba. He was the leader of Kakching community who was committed his life to his occupation as the iron producer. He made many settlements when he searched for the raw materials. Khamlangba became the ancestral God which is still devoting in Kakching community as a major God and few places in Manipur. Different manifestations of Khamlangba in different places have told in this research. Keywords: Khamlangba, Kakching community, Kangleipak Methodology The historical fields of this particular area of study has been analysed and questionnaires had been conducted to different elderly people of the Kakching community. They gave the good oral sources as per them and many books had been analysed to write this article. These methods were conducted after the objective of the article was framed. But after the use of these methods, the process has reframed to continue because there were many new ideas that emerged while conducting the said methods. INTRODUCTION: As to enable to address the increasing trend of drug abuse in the state and to meet the challenges & issues with having full dedication in related activities to provide maximum possible services related with HIV/AIDS & drug used the Health For All Organisation (HFAO) come exist as a non-political and non-profitable voluntary organization and become a registered body under the Manipur Society’s Registration Act 1989 (Manipur Act I of 1990) vide state Government’s notification No. 46 of 1992 dated 24th Oct. 1992. The Health For All Organization (HFAO) was established in the year 1992 and has completed 29 years of voluntary service dealing with different issues on different fields. The organization has fully strengthened with having PAN CARD bearing no. AAAAH4946F and registered of Income Tax bearing Regd. No. OC- 447/12A/CIT/JRT/2010-2011 also having 80G bearing Regd. No. ITBA/EXM/S/80G/2019- 20/1016424916(1). The organization have been implementing the Targeted Intervention (TI) project under Manipur State AIDS Control Society since May 2002 at Wabagai & Sekmaijin and completed 19 yrs. working in the field of HIV/AIDS and drug used with an expansion of a Sub DIC at Sugnu in the year July 2017 with a target of 200 followed by a satellite OST treatment center at Wabagai DIC w.e.f Dec. 2020. As an initiative to extend philanthropy support and showing gratitude towards the section of older person in the society by addressing them with love and care, Health for All Organisation (HFAO) have been implementing a Senior Citizen Home, at Arong Khunou, Kakching Dist.

ABSTRACT: The economy of Manipur is based on Agriculture, forest products, industries, mining and tourism sector. The state is divided into two geographical areas, i.e. the hills and the plains. The main economy of the hill areas is the agriculture and allied activities and forest products with prospects of tourism. Economically, the hill area which is inhabited by the tribal consisting of the Nagas and the Kukis are more backward, while the valley predominantly inhabited by the Meiteis are more advance and developed. Rural industries, if developed and planned properly will enhance the economy of the hill people of Manipur.The present paper is an attempt to criticallyanalyze the presence of rural industries in Ukhrul District of Manipur. It is also an attempt to study the factors for lack of rural industries in Ukhrul district. The various impacts resulting out of this problem in the economic growth and sustainable development of Ukhrul District is also critically analyze in the present paper.
