As a part of the above mentioned endeavor, National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has been entrusted with the assignment of Consultancy Services for Carrying out Feasibility Study, Preparation of Detailed Project Report and providing pre-construction services in respect of 2 laning with paved of Pallel-Chandel Section of NH-102C in the state of Manipur. National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. is the employer and executing agency for the consultancy services and the standards of output required from the appointed consultants are of international level both in terms of quality and adherence to the agreed time schedule. -

PLP 2016-17 Imphal East District EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Theme of the PLP is “Accelerating the pace of capital formation in agriculture and allied sector” The valley district of Imphal East (709 sq km) has two separate valley areas i.e. Imphal valley and Jiribam which is about 222 km away from state capital, Imphal. Jiribam is the only place, which is connected by rail line from Silchar in Assam. Proposed railway line from Jiribam to Tupul is expected to ease transport problem of the state. The Loktak Lake in the valley, which covers an area of 216 sq km is the biggest fresh water lake in the North Eastern Region of India. The Valley area is known as the ‘Rice Bowl’ of Manipur. The total population of Imphal East District is 456113 of which male is 226094 and female is 230019. Rural population is 272906 and Urban population is 183207. The Literacy rate is 83 per cent. The district has three blocks viz. Imphal East I, Imphal East II and Jiribam block which lies southwest of Tamenglong District and bordering the State of Assam, as part of Imphal east District. District H.Q. is at Porompat. The total number of village is 195. The total number of Cultivator is 27895 out of these 9398 is agriculture labourer. The total gross irrigated area is 47900 ha. The district is equipped with 2 Dispensaries, 10 Primary Health Centre, 53 Primary Health Sub-Centres, 1 Hospitals, Post Offices in 46 villages, 154 villages got electric supply. Director of state veterinary and Animal husbandry Dr Chaoba Singh said that the disease has been detected in the Salungpham area in Thoubal district and Nongmaiching Chingkhong(Wakha) area in Imphal East district. “So the said areas have been sealed and sanitised. One km radius of the area has also been contained to prevent further spread of the disease,” Dr Chaoba said. “The surveillance is going on within 10 km radius of the areas too.” Singh suspected the illegal import of pigs as the reason behind the disease. Last year, the ASF killed many pigs in Assam, subsequently the import of the animal was prohibited in Manipur. Chapter 1: Introduction 1.1. District Profile The district of Kakching came into existence on the 8thDecember 2016 when the State Government announced the formation of 7 new district through a notification of the Government of Manipur, (Secretariat: Revenue Department Order No. 16/20/2016-R dated 8th December 2016), (Manipur Extraordinary Gazette No. 408 of 9.12.2016). It is situated in the southeastern part of Manipur. It is bounded by Thoubal and Imphal West districts on the north, Tengnoupal and Chandel districts on the east, Bishnupur districts on the west and Chandel district on the south. Its average elevation is not very much different from the rest of the Manipur Valley, which is about 790 metres on an average above the mean sea level. Although the district is a part of the valley, the area of the district is not entirely plain. Many rivers flow through the district and many lakes dot its surface, some of which are closely inter-twined with many folk tales and stories. 4(four) Assembly Constituencies namely Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency, Wabgai Assembly Constituency, Sugnu Assembly Constituency and Kakching Assembly Constituency fall under the District.Kakching district comprises of two sub-divisionsnamely Kakching and Waikhong. It has 3 Municipal Councils namely, Kakching, Sugnu and Kakching Khunou. The district has two community development blocks one each at Kakching and Waikhong sub-division. 1.2. Administrative Setup The District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner (Collector) is the head of the district. He is assisted in this work by other officers and staff as are appointed from time to time. -

Chapter – 3 (Three) Research Methodology 3.1 Introduction The present part of the study is about the methodology that has been adopted in order to carry out the present study. Methodology acts as a guide in conducting research studies and hence, mentioning the methodology is required to know the research design on the basis of which the research study would be carried out. The present chapter begins with the identification research questions, delineates the objectives aimed to be achieved and the hypotheses to be tested. The chapter also presents the framework of the study and the research design adopted in order to derive at the result and inferences with regard to the “Marketing Practices of Women Entrepreneurs of Manipur with reference to select Marketing Mix”. The framework of the study delineates the step wise process through which the study has been conducted. The relevant research methods and tools which have been employed are also mentioned in this chapter. It is structured in such a way that it begins with the identification of the nature of present research study, then continues with the identification of the respective tools and techniques that can be used under the specific type of research, also the identification of the data that are required for the study and the procedure of collecting the required data; and next is the verification of the sources from which data are to be obtained involving identification of the population of the study and from it, obtaining the required sample size of the study, designing of the tool for obtaining data from the sources such as questionnaire and personal field interview, and finally ends with the framing of the design for analysis and interpretation of the collected data so as to enable to form a basis [97] for drawing conclusions and then making suggestions to the women entrepreneurs of Manipur for better performance and effectiveness in marketing their products. -
