Shatin Section Shatin to Central Link Shatin Section February 2014 MTR Projects Team, together with contractor Penta Ocean Construction of the Construction Co. Ltd, Sha Tin District Council, local community representatives and relevant government departments, Shatin to Central Link Project celebrated the commencement of the construction of Hin Keng Station and approach structures at the works site at Hin Tin Playground on 13 November 2013. Over the course of construction, it is inevitable that our works will bring certain inconvenience to nearby residents. We sincerely express our gratitude for your kind understanding and generous support that allows the project to be smoothly implemented. Our construction team and the contractor will keep striving to adopt mitigation measures so as to minimise the impacts to the community. The implementation of the SCL certainly would not have happened without the valuable inputs and advocacy of District Council, local communities and residents over the years. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your input to the project. We would appreciate your continual support and understanding as we turn SCL into a reality. My construction teams and I will strive to provide “the next generation rail connection” that links the “East West Corridor” and “North South Corridor” in the near future. To facilitate the construction of Hin Keng Station, part of Hin Tin Playground has been temporarily closed as the works site, while part of the closed area will be permanently occupied as the future Hin Keng Station. Site clearance and foundation works are underway in Hin Philco Wong Tin Playground, and related track works are also being General Manager – SCL carried out during non-traffic hours. The reprovisioning work was conducted smoothly from September 2012 and was completed two months ahead of schedule, which marked the first milestone of the SCL project in Shatin. The new facilities were handed over to Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department on 29 November 2013 and are now in service at the new location. The old facilities were demolished for the construction of the new Hin Keng Station. Hin Tin Playground – Reprovisioning of Hin Keng Estate – The approach recreational facilities structures and tunnel construction Preparation works, such as site clearance and surveying works, are in progress at the works site near Hin Yau House of Hin Keng Estate to facilitate the construction of the elevated and at-grade structures. A temporary site access and a working platform will be set up for building the railway track and structures. In response to the community’s concern about the recreational facilities in Hin Tin Playground, the Corporation has worked closely with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department on the reprovisioning of the affected facilities, which include a jogging path, elderly fitness equipment, walking tiles and park benches. The reprovisioning works are expected to be completed in March 2014. ◄ To facilitate works on the elevated and at-grade structures, temporary traffic management schemes and surveying works are being carried out at the roundabout on Keng Hau Road and Che Kung Miu Road. Shatin to Central Link Shatin Section Ma On Shan Line Stations Platform Modification Works To allow for the future eight-car train operation of the SCL, platform modification works are underway at the nine stations along the Ma On Shan Line, which include roof and platform extensions, retrofitting of the automatic platform gates (APGs), and enhancing the electrical and mechanical facilities. To avoid affecting the normal railway services of the Ma On Shan Line, most of the works are required to be carried out during the overnight hours after the end of normal train service. Temporary traffic management schemes are implemented for carrying out the abovementioned works during the construction period. The Corporation closely oversees the construction and applies appropriate mitigation measures to minimise the construction impact to the environment and traffic near the construction sites. Wang Elderly Community Centre in December 2013 and January 2014 respectively. During the visits, our Projects Team introduced the new railway projects and proper train etiquette, and engaged in festive activities to celebrate the holidays with community members. Hin Keng Information Counter Opens The “Shatin to Central Link Hin Keng Information Counter” is now open at the Hin Keng Shopping Centre to keep the public abreast of the latest progress of Hin Keng Station construction and related
