Slovenian golf courses are among the most stunning in Europe due to the country’s remarkably diverse landscape. Seek out your favourite golf course surrounded by the summits of Alpine Slovenia, the healing waters of thermal Pannonian Slovenia, the Adriatic Sea and the Karst features of Mediterranean Slovenia or in Central Slovenia with Ljubljana, the capital city. In Slovenia, the only European country where the Alps, the Mediterranean, the Karst and the Pannonian Basin meet, nothing is far away, and you can add to your golf experience by exploring the diverse Slovenian landscape. Golf has been present in Slovenia since 1937, and today you can enjoy a round on 16 golf courses across the country. Many amateur and professional tournaments – and even European championships in various categories – have been hosted by many of these courses. In 2015, the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) declared Slovenia the Undiscovered Golf Destination of the Year 2015. Slovenia is proud to be hosting the prestigious IGTM – the International Golf Travel Market in 2018. Golf is one of the most prestigious sports you can enjoy in Slovenia’s great outdoors. No matter which part of the country your desire for golf takes you to, there are ample opportunities for other outdoor sports and for exploring green Slovenia’s special features. One of them is certainly its cuisine. Golfers interested in cuisine could indulge themselves in the culinary diversity of Slovenia’s 24 gastronomic regions all year round. And try something new every day! Culinary diversity is one of the most important reasons why visitors come to Slovenia and provides additional motives to play golf between the Alps, the Adriatic Sea, the Karst, and the Pannonian Basin. Using recession curve analysis, the extent of the Glijun spring catchment area has been determined. Catchment areas, draining, and the location of a karst watershed depend on the quantity of water in the aquifer. Due to the overlapping of the catchment areas of various springs, the dumping of dangerous wastes in the high mountains can cause the pollution of many springs. Because the aquifers in the limestone and dolomite Kanin massif are closely linked to those in the Quaternary sediments of the Bovec Basin, pro- tecting the high mountain karst also protects the sources of potable water in the valley.
