Nach einigen Jahren spürten wir wieder Lust, uns mit seinem Werk auseinanderzusetzen. Insbesondere auch, nachdem in Mexiko 100 Jahre seines Todes gefeiert wurden. Mexiko ist eine wichtige Stätte lateinamerikanischer Kunst geblieben, man findet dort mehrere aktuell tätige Künstler, die von Posada inspiriert sind. Sadhus – sind das „heilige Aussteiger”, schaulustige Scharlatane oder ernstzunehmende Asketen, die sich um sprirituelle Belange kümmern? Wie bei vielen anderen Erscheinungen in Indien bleiben wir oft ratlos vor diesem Phönomen stehen und haben Schwierigkeiten, es einzuordnen. Viele Journalisten und Filmemacher haben sich in Indien ein Bild von den Sadhus gemacht. Daraus machten wir die kurze Einführung, die Sie ab Seite 48 lesen können. Caretos sieht man vor allem in Podence, Lazarim und Vimioso. ie Männer tragen eine farbige Maske mit einer großen Nase. Die Maske wird aus Holz, Leder oder Blech hergestellt und mit grellen Farben – Gelb, Rot und Schwarz bemalt. In Laza- D rim sieht man Masken aus hellem Holz, dekoriert mit Hör- nern. Der Ursprung der Maskierten soll mit früheren Kulte der Vor- fahren in Verbindung stehen, so vermuten einige Forscher. Die Maskierten sind die zentrale Figuren, sie stehen im Mittel- punkt des Festes und nehmen, je nach Ort, unterschiedliche Rollen an. Die Feste der Maskierten sind Rituale mit einer Symbolik, die seit vielen hundert Jahren besteht: Hier wird die Ankunft des Früh- lings gefeiert. Fern von den aktuelleren Fasching-Festivals, bleiben diese traditionellen Feste lebendige Teile der Volkskultur der Regio- nen des Nordosten, des Trás-os-Montes. Das Kostüm der Maskierten wird in der Regel aus dicke Jak- ken, Mütze und Hosen gebildet, die in Streifen mit farbiger Wolle bestückt sind. In manchen Gegenden wird das Kostüm mit breiten Gurten von Rindern ergänzt; Gurte, die mit Glocken bestückt sind. Mit diesen Glocken können die Caretos Frauen provozieren. In Trás-os-Montes, in den Dörfern von Vinhais, Bragança, Podence (Macedo de Cavaleiros) und Vimioso; im Alto Douro, in Lazarim (bei Lamego). Die Entrudos von Lazarim, Vinhais und Podence sind die bekanntesten. Bei den Karnevalsfeiern von Podence gehen die Caretos jedes Jahr auf die Strasse. Sie tauchen in Scharen aus allen Ecken auf, pfeifen laut und machen einen wilden Lärm mit den Rasseln, die in den farbigen Fransen der dicken Mäntel geflochten sind. Sie laufen durch das ganze Dorf und lassen nie- manden gleichgültig. Die Maskierten laufen insbesondere hinter den unverheirateten Mädchen und versuchen sie als „Braut” zu gewinnen. Die jüngeren Caretos, die Faca- nitos, verfolgen diese und versuchen sie nachzuahmen. Sie beobachten alles von den Fenstern oder Balkonen ihrer Häuser, mit einer Mischung aus Aufregung und Angst. Dieses ist ein fantastisches und faszinierendes Fest, voller Verführung und Geheimnis. n Macedo de Cavalheiros probieren die Gäste Schweinswürste mit Rübstielen, das Wildschwein- Eintopf mit Kastanien und Pilzen, den Rebhuhn mit I Reis und den Kastanien-Pudding. Weniger bekannt, aber beliebt in Trás-os-Montes, ist die Tradition vom Chocalheiro im Ort Bemposta do Mogadouro. Diese Gestalt erscheint am 26. If tomorrow Bin Laden were to come and get a darshan from Amma, Amma would hug him. Amma will not even say that, “oh why are you being a fanatic?” For her, everybody is her children [sic]. So in one sense, she embodies the compassion, compassionate aspect of everything. And so she cannot say that this person is wrong and this person is right. She will not say that. Because as I said, to her, everyone is an expression of the Divine. But that doesn’t mean that she says what they do is correct. And personally, I have seen Amma giving advice to people saying that this is not the correct path to follow, you should change. And so, I would say that, Amma, it is according to each person and their ability to understand and listen and to implement those things that Amma gives the advice. The Homa will be held at idyllic Ananda Ashram, a yoga retreat and spiritual educational center located just over one hour northwest of New York City. Sacred fire ceremonies have been performed for millennia to promote universal and individual peace and healing. Benefits extend to all those who participate and to our entire world family and the environment. Please plan on coming early, preferably by 8.30 a.m. The actual ceremony will be from 9.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. but we need to be settled down and quiet when it starts. The fire ceremony will be conducted under a large, open-air tent. A light lunch will be served after the ceremony. Come prepared to sit outdoors for an extended period of time. Be sure to protect yourself from the weather as well as insects. Bring hats, blankets, cushions, folding chairs, water bottles, insect repellents, sun screens, umbrellas and raincoats, as needed.
