FFORTS towards unity among certain Protestant groups E have been considered newsworthy of late by the secular press. One has in mind the projected unity among Presby­ terians and the Protestant Episcopal Church of America and the apparently accomplished unity among the divisions of Methodists last year. Many reasons may be assigned for these attempts and successes, but it would be impossible to under­ stand adequately this movement among the denominations without some idea of the missionary development of these groups. The rapid geographical extension of denominational* ism, almost exclusively the work of a century and a quarter, with its consequent enormous expenditures of money and per­ sonnel has had two effects upon denominationalism. In the first place, it has impressed upon the groups the necessity for unity in view of the weakness of division, and secondly it has at the same time complicated the attainment of the unity. Confronted with the millions of pagans in a country such as China or India, the denomination eventually realized the futility and practical impossibility of cutting into such a large mass of error and ignorance by its own individual efforts. The 210 THEOLOGICAL STUDIES denomination necessarily looked about for kinship with other forms of Christianity for the sake not merely of numerical advance but even of survival in the face of such overwhelming odds. It soon became painfully obvious, after the first rush of zeal, that such a mass could not be Christianized by the Lutherans alone, nor the Baptists alone, especially when the de­ nomination had to face the opposition both of paganism and of divergent groups of Christianity.

    Indresh Kumar had given all co-operation to the CBI : Dr. Vaidya By : INVC Team Published On : 12 Mar, 2011 12:51 AM IST INVC,, Puttur, RSS national annual meet Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) was inaugurated today morning at Vivekananda College Premises, Puttur. Mohanji Bhagwat, Sarasanghachalak, lighted the traditional lamp as well as unfurled the coconut flower as part of the local tradition. Vedic chanting along with traditional panchavadyam were resounding the premises. Mr Suresh Joshi, Sarakaryavah was also present in Dias. Around 1400 delegates from across the country are participating in this 3-day annual meet.     Preface Pilgrimage places like Varanasi, Prayag, Haridwar and Vrindavan have always got prominent place in any pilgrimage of the devotees and its importance is well known. Many mythological stories are associated to these places. Though Orissa had many temples, historical places and natural scenic beauty spot, but it did not get so much prominence. This may be due to the lack of connectivity. Buddhism and Jainism flourished there followed by Shaivaism and Vainavism. After reading the lives of Sri Chaitanya, Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and direct disciples we come to know the importance and spiritual significance of these places. Holy Mother and many disciples of Sri Ramakrishna had great time in Orissa. Many are blessed here by the vision of Lord Jagannath or the Master. The lives of these great souls had shown us a way to visit these places with spiritual consciousness and devotion. Unless we read the life of Sri Chaitanya we will not understand the life of Sri Ramakrishna properly. Similarly unless we study the chapter in the lives of these great souls in Orissa we will not be able to understand and appreciate the significance of these places. If we go on pilgrimage to Orissa with same spirit and devotion as shown by these great souls, we are sure to be benefited spiritually. This collection will put the light on the Orissa chapter in the lives of these great souls and will inspire the devotees to read more about their lives in details. This will also help the devotees to go to pilgrimage in Orissa and strengthen their devotion.

    The Journey of Atheist Centre & its Founders Key Milestones Compiled by VIKAS GORA, Atheist Centre 1902-1912: Birth of Atheist social reformers 1902 November 15: Gora, born in Chatrapur, Ganjam District, Orissa. 1912 September 28: Saraswathi Gora, born in Vijayanagaram, Andhra Pradesh, India 1913-1923: Early Life, Marriage & Education May 7: Marriage of Gora & Saraswathi Gora. 1922 Gora travels to Madras to study M.A. Botany at Presidency College. 1923 Gora volunteers in All India Congress organized in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh. 1924-1934: Employment & Dismissals in India & Sri Lanka, becoming atheists, challenging blind beliefs, demonstration for social equality and social reform activities. 1924 Gora studies science and religion and human behavior and gives lectures on Atheism across India. 1925 Gora becomes a Lecturer in American College in Madurai, Tamil Nadu Gora lives in a haunted house in Madurai, to prove that ghosts are unreal. 1926 Gora serves as a Lecturer at Agricultural College, Coimbatore and Saraswathi joins him in August. Gora joins Ananda College, Colombo as a Lecturer. 1927 Saraswathi joins Gora on September 26, defying the taboo that pregnant women should not see eclipse and views the solar eclipse in Colombo. Saraswathi views lunar eclipse at Vijayanagaram, Andhra Pradesh. September: Gora joins his alma mater P.R. College, Kakinada as Lecturer and Head. Gora removes his so-called sacred thread which is a caste symbol and has differences with his father on this. 1928 Eldest daughter Manorama (b. July 29) without any deformity even after Saraswathi views the eclipse. Gora is ex-communicated from his caste. Saraswathi Gora follows him.
