  • Membership Letter2021
Hyannis Athletic Association Proudly Supporting the January, 2021 Dear Friends: What a year 2020 was- who would have thought that the Cape Cod Baseball League would not play for the first time in so many years? We are hopeful that in the summer of 2021 we will see a baseball season with spectators and are planning for just that! Our roster is being signed, coaches are preparing to work with some of the best collegiate talent our nation has to offer and our volunteers are hard at work getting the field ready for your enjoyment. All of these efforts require time and money. Last year was particularly trying for so many individuals and businesses as they navigated the uncertainty of each passing day. The impact of our national pandemic has been felt far and wide, including within the Hyannis Athletic Association. We are an entirely volunteer run nonprofit organization that was formed to support the Hyannis Harbor Hawks baseball team. Without the revenue from seasonal attendance, merchandise sales, advertising and snack bar sales in 2020, the organization saw a significant decrease in available funds. Please consider becoming a member of our group and making a donation to help fund our various needs. Your membership will defray the cost of uniforms, equipment, supplies and transportation for our players while they showcase their tremendous talent in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. Now more than ever we need your support as we put behind us a year without any baseball and look towards a new chapter in Harbor Hawk history. Help us keep our longstanding baseball tradition afloat.

  • The Barnstable Bulletin
The Barnstable Bulletin FROM THE TOWN MANAGER Dear Reader: All seven villages in the Town of Barnstable have been bustling with activity. There are so many choices it is sometimes difficult to choose which activities will be included in our weekend plans. There are free, evening concerts in Barnstable Village, Osterville and Hyannis. As the only Town with two teams – the Cotuit Kettleers and Hyannis Harbor Hawks – the Cape Cod Baseball League provides us with plenty of excitement. The John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum has a special exhibit this summer – Cape Cod Remembers JFK Jr. Be sure to walk the Kennedy Legacy Trail and visit the beautiful John F. Kennedy Memorial and the Korean War Memorial on Ocean Street. Discover Barnstable at Bismore Park and the Harbor Overlook is a great way for you to know more about how different Town Departments and Divisions work for you. If you want to “be in the know” be sure to visit www.ArtsBarnstable.com - Seven Villages - One Town - All Things Arts & Culture. Another great summer time activity is the Cape Cod Lifeguard Competition. Lifeguards from across Cape Cod compete in a number of events, testing their swimming, running, agility, and lifesaving skills. Last year our Town of Barnstable Lifeguards claimed first place in the non-surf division. This year’s event will be held in Chatham on Friday, August 2nd. Also on Friday, August 2nd, the Town of Barnstable, the Barnstable Police Department and People of Action are proud to announce the 4th Annual Barnstable Unity Day Celebration on the Hyannis Village Green from 4:00-7:00 PM.

The Boys of Summer Hop Aboard CapeFLYER Invite Fans to Swing into Father’s Day Weekend Contact: Sean Gonsalves, Regan Communications (508) 420‐5566 ext. 118 (w) 617‐308‐8393 (c) [email protected] HYANNIS, MA – For fans of the Cape Cod Baseball League and passengers aboard the CapeFLYER, Father’s Day weekend this year promises to be a fun, family‐friendly experience. On June 18 ‐ the Saturday before Father’s Day ‐ the morning train from South Station in Boston will make a special stop in Wareham to pick up the Wareham Gatemen. The Gatemen will ride the CapeFLYER into the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) Transportation Center in Hyannis where the West Division team will come face‐to‐face with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks, their afternoon opponent. But before the Gatemen and Harbor Hawks settle the score on the diamond, the boys of Cape Cod summer will mix it up and mingle with fans, followers, and local Little Leaguers during an open‐to‐the‐ public reception at the transportation center. “A train, hot dogs, peanuts, the country’s top college baseball players, and Father’s Day ‐ I can’t think of another place I’d want to be,” said Cape Cod Baseball League Commissioner Paul Galop, adding that any Little League player in uniform will be able to ride the train into Hyannis for free. With a chance to shake hands or get an autograph from a Cape Leaguer, plus a special appearance of the Boston Red Sox 2004 and 2007 World Series trophy, a quintessential Cape Cod scrapbook moment is there to be had.

  • Cape Cod Player Interviews
CAPE COD PLAYER INTERVIEWS Luke Mann rd 3 Baseman / Pitcher University of Missouri Sophomore Studying Sports Management When Luke was about six years old, he would spend summers on the Cape with his uncle, who would often take him to games hosted by the Cape Cod League. As he got older, Luke realized how prestigious it was to play for the league, and as a sophomore, he was given the opportunity to play for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks. After having surgery his freshman year and missing out on his first opportunity to play collegiate summer ball, Luke was eager to get to know and play against some of the best guys around. Once the pandemic hit, he was hopeful that everything would calm down and go away by the beginning of summer. With many of his friends having the same summer plans at the Cape, Luke looked forward to playing against them in a heightened atmosphere. Since his sophomore year at the University of Missouri was cut short, Luke had been doing everything he could to keep up with his side of the game. He had been taking reps of ground balls and batting practice and had also been competing in simulated games against other college and professional ball players in the St. Louis area. Shortly after Luke received the email that the season at the Cape had been cancelled, he was given the opportunity to play in the Coastal Plains League in North Carolina. However, just recently, he found out that their season had been cancelled as well. Going forward, Luke is hoping to play for the O’Fallon Prospect League in Missouri.
