Dear Commodores Fans:

Welcome to Cape Cod and the 2017 season of the featuring the Falmouth Commodores here at Arnie Allen Diamond! Just in case this is all new to you, the Cape Cod Baseball League attracts the best collegiate players in the nation year in and year out with nearly 300 former CCBL players currently playing in . You are watching the best of the best! Special thanks go out to Falmouth Field Manager Jeff Trundy, General Manager Eric Zmuda, Commodores President Mark Kasprzyk and the dedicated and unselfi sh legion of Falmouth volunteers who work year-round to bring you this “Norman Rockwell moment” all summer long. We are extremely proud of the role that the Cape Cod League has played in the growth and success of these fi ne young men. It is so much fun to closely watch the players and try to guess who will be the next major leaguers that will play right here at Fuller Field this summer. Our sincerest wish is that you, our guests, totally enjoy this wholesome entertainment and together we make a memory for your family that you will talk about for years to come. Could there possibly be anything more Americana than free baseball, family bonding, reasonably priced refreshments and souvenirs, free autographs and the best college baseball in the country? Probably not, so sit back and enjoy the journey with us as every night something special and memorable seems to happen. The Falmouth Commodores organization is all volunteer and any support you can provide this legendary franchise is gratefully accepted. We are so grateful you have chosen to spend some quality time with us. Thanks for coming out and supporting us. Have a wonderful evening and let’s play ball!

Very truly yours,

Paul A. Galop, Commissioner Cape Cod Baseball League

4 2017 FALMOUTH COMMODORES Welcome to the Arnie Allen Diamond and the 2017 Cape League Season,

As I start my 31st year in the league, with over 20 of those years right here in Falmouth, I look at how the Falmouth Commodores have grown as an organization and I am extremely proud. The Commodores Committee has worked hard all year to provide its fans with the best summer college baseball in the country. The improvements to the press box area and scouting area are superb and top notch. The additional plans for new dugouts and safety netting will only improve the experience for their fans and players, a welcome addition to the Arnie Allen Diamond. I urge all of you who are reading this and enjoy attending Commodores games to be generous and donate to the team so they can continue to make Arnie Allen Diamond one of the best fi elds. I would also like to encourage anyone who loves baseball to join the franchise. They are always looking for new members. We these teams with volunteers and you can never have enough volunteers to fi eld a team and run an organization. They are always looking for host families as well. Having a player join your family for the summer is an experience you will never forget and a bond that lasts a life time. So pull up your lawn chair, spread your blanket on the hill, have a hot dog and enjoy the great game of baseball.

Sincerely,

Chuck Sturtevant

8 2017 FALMOUTH COMMODORES FROM THE PRESIDENT Déjà vu is the best way to describe the feeling as we prepare for the 2017 baseball season. Just like this year, the frenetic pace in May continues as Board members and volunteers fi nalize the Program book, track down sponsors, recruit new host families, order equipment and merchandise, and schedule events so we can be ready for June . Soon other duties – coordinating players to host families, guidance for the new interns, gate coverage before games, staying on top of media events, task after task – will become the daily routine. And by mid-August another season will be over, and the planning for next year will begin. But fi rst, let’s refl ect on these past 12 months and the amazing things accomplished by the Commodores family. First and foremost, under Coach Trundy and his Coaching team the Commodores won the President’s Cup for the best record in the Cape Cod Baseball League and went on to make a run for the Championship, taking it to the fi nal game. And we hosted record numbers of fans who came and enjoyed all that the Falmouth has to offer. During that incredible run our dedicated Board members and volunteers worked on operations: we improved the tracking of merchandise sales, introduced and tried new products, increased the versatility of our broadcasting and media system, and successfully revamped the Intern Program by giving them a sense of ownership. In September we started the Press Box renovations for Pat’s Loft. But instead of just remodeling the broadcast booth as planned, we looked at the feasibility of moving the press box to get more room between the building and backstop. The support from the local business community was amazing: not only were we able to move the building, we also excavated and poured a new expanded foundation and created much needed extra space. In addition to grant funding, so many people and businesses donated time and materials that it isn’t possible to list it all in this letter: keep reading this Program Book to fi nd out how this project was made possible. But that’s not all. With our ever-evolving Board members’ talents and commitments, we also now have a brand new Website, our Golf Tournament has returned, and we are already planning for future improvements to make the Town of Falmouth’s Guv Fuller ball fi eld one of the best on the Cape. My sincere thanks go to the Town, business community, our dedicated volunteers and the Cape Cod Baseball League for their contributions and continuing support. I hope you enjoy the changes we have all made and look forward to seeing you at the games. Let’s do it again!

10 2017 FALMOUTH COMMODORES FROM THE HEAD COACH The Falmouth Commodores are ready to embark on the 2017 campaign. What kind of excitement will this summer bring? Last year the Dores provided their fans with an exciting brand of baseball, moving forward to the champi- onship series while capturing the Commissioner’s Cup for best overall league record. There will be a few returning players from the success- ful 2016 team, ready to pass on their experiences to the players who will be on the Cape for the fi rst time. They will share their insight on what they can expect from Cape League baseball, as well as what the summer will be like while living in the friendly town of Falmouth and the Cape in general. Most certainly, though, they will share with their new teammates how last year’s team developed a sense of respect for one another, forming a strong brotherhood that went well beyond description. The last game of the year refl ected this bond, with a fl ood of emotional good- byes during their fi nal team meeting. The Cape brings great baseball, for players and fans, as well as great experiences off the fi eld. But ultimately, after the dust settles for the season, anyone involved with the Commodores knows that it is about the people and the relationships that are formed during the journey. I am for- tunate to have formed wonderful relationships throughout Jeff Trundy with athletic trainer Laura Murphy the league, and every summer gives me the chance to see many dear friends once again.
