For Immediate Release: Thursday, May 29, 2014 NCAA Division I All-Americans TUCSON, Ariz. — The Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American baseball teams and National Player of The Year were announced today by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. The 17-man first team, chosen by performances up to regional playoffs and picked by the staff of Collegiate Baseball newspaper, features 11 conference players or of the year, including: • RHP , Louisiana St. ( of Year ). • LHP , Oregon St. (Pitcher of Year Pac-12 Conference). • RHP Andrew Morales, U.C. Irvine (Pitcher of Year Big West). • LHP , Virginia (Co-Pitcher of Year Atlantic Coast Conference). • LHP Chris Diaz, Miami, Fla. (Co-Pitcher of Year Atlantic Coast Conference). • C , Kennesaw St. (Player of Year Atlantic Sun Conference). • 1B , Wichita St. (Player of Year Missouri Valley Conference). • 2B Jace Conrad, Louisiana-Lafayette (Player of Year Sun Belt Conference). • OF , Oregon St. (Player of Year Pac-12 Conference). • OF Michael Katz, William & Mary (Player of Year Colonial Athletic Association). • UT A.J. Reed, Kentucky (Player of Year Southeastern Conference). Kentucky’s A.J. Reed is Collegiate Baseball’s National Player Of The Year after one of the best seasons in college baseball history. He leads NCAA Division I players with 23 home runs (more than 193 NCAA schools) and also leads the nation in percentage (.768) and OPS (1.259). He also .351 with 17 doubles and 70 RBI. He leads the rugged Southeastern Conference in homers (23), RBI (70), walks (47), wins (11), total bases (162), OPS (1.259), on-base percentage (.491) and slugging percentage (.768). As a pitcher, he has an 11-2 record and 2.10 ERA. He has wins over Virginia, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, , Alabama, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Auburn and Georgia. The first team features one pitcher with 127 (LSU’s Aaron Nola) and another who only gave up 45 hits in 95 innings ( of Oregon St.). Both closers (Michael Cederoth of San Diego St. and of Louisville) have that hit 100 mph. The first team offense features remarkable power, line drive hitters and speed. Six hitters collected 17 or more doubles led by Michael Katz of William & Mary with 24. of N.C. State has 26 stolen bases on the season to lead first teamers.
